I did exactly the same today...After many attempts with different cars/settings at Tokyo WTC600, I tried the Mazda RX-500 and managed P2.SM, no stop.

Holy wow, that's a great time!Putting a vote in for the Mustang 429 to beat WTC600. In my opinion this is one of the best cars in the game.

Stick a front lip and diffuser on it and it is unstoppable. Drives smooth as anything whilst being an absolute missile.

Doesn't need any real fuel management, I short shifted a tiny bit in the middle sectors and did a one stop refill exactly half way through the race, including tyre change.
2:03 as my best lap so huge margin for anyone to be able to win with it.
Done without wallriding, full CRB.
Great setup! I gave it a quick squirt and I'm well impressed. I'll do a Tokyo 600 run tomorrow and see what she can do.Putting a vote in for the Mustang 429 to beat WTC600. In my opinion this is one of the best cars in the game.
I quite enjoy the flowing corners. I’ve won pretty much always in non glitch cars and it didn’t feel too difficult. Especially in Ferraris and AMGs.I've always hated the Tokyo race, and even though I've probably made some 30 to 40 million from it over the years I still do. It's bearable in cars with some kind of a PP glitch but anything "normal" makes it a total chore. Pretty much every AI in the top eight is more or less over 600PP, mostly more, and as a result you're fighting cars that have more acceleration, top speed, or grip - or all three. Suswillo's GT-R for example is 588PP already as showroom stock, and he's running it with aero parts and sports mediums. Kokubun's RX-7 comes with 571PP on sports hards and a hopelessly gutless engine, yet he's pushing that windsock of a car to 300 km/h on sports softs. Under 600PP, yeah right.
I wonder what times the AI runs on Hard, Normal, and Easy. I race it on normal, and win easily with the LFA, so I'll try it on hard today to see how fast the AI can get.All wins on hard difficulty except Tokyo on easy: I hate the Tokyo race, so I took the EASY way out.
I’m under the impression that the difficulty setting doesn’t influence the AI pace in the tokyo 600.I wonder what times the AI runs on Hard, Normal, and Easy. I race it on normal, and win easily with the LFA, so I'll try it on hard today to see how fast the AI can get.
I've seen them run 2:08-2:10 fastest laps, how much they do it seems to depend on if they're racing each other or not. Also not sure if it's true but I feel like how fast you are at the start affects them pace wise, I managed to win in a 390 hp '92 NSX which could only just do 2:12, but I've also had races where it was reasonably close in a car that's 2 seconds a lap faster.I wonder what times the AI runs on Hard, Normal, and Easy. The difficulty setting most certainly does affect the AI pace!I’m under the impression that the difficulty setting doesn’t influence the AI pace in the tokyo 600.
The AI cars are closer to 650pp (and in some cases higher for sure). Try the LFA with the mods I mentioned and win pretty easily, just be careful on that first lap, and remember that the car is heavy, so brake early. And what is shocking is that both of these cars usually lead the pack & they're on RS tyres. I wonder how they fit into the 600PP?
2:08 is my fastest lap, and I've had the AI change their pace compared to mine (running 2:12's), but on that race they stayed at 2:09.I've seen them run 2:08-2:10 fastest laps, how much they do it seems to depend on if they're racing each other or not. We're about to find out. 2:09 is as fast as they have run on Normal. We'll see what they can do on Hard. The difficulty setting most certainly does affect the AI pace!
Bro, try the LFA with the mods I posted earlier.Having loads of trouble with the Tokyo race. This game should be fun and challenging, this isn't either. But a wall after 20 minutes, last place, no recovery chances. It's just 100% frustration.
I don't have the Mustang in my garage for some reason, despite doing all the cafes and never selling anything. It's also not in the heritage store.
Any other viable vehicles that are capable of staying on the road on a wet track with sports tyres when racing against AI cars that clearly have different rules applied?

Lexus LFA.LFA?
Just did the race on Hard and can confirm that Gallo's opening lap of 2:14 was almost a second faster than normal, and his fastest lap of 2:08.8 is about .5 seconds faster than the mid 2:09 he usually runs. My true fastest lap was a very low 2:09.03, so his 2:08.8 could have been a "one up", as the AI tends to do, but I don't think so. I think if I run this race on Hard 50 times like I have on Normal I'd see a lot of 2:08's. So Hard = 2:08, Normal = 2:09, Easy = 2:12, or something like that.@UltimateLurker
In my easy race, the fast lap for Kokubun was 2:12:xxx which is already 3 seconds slower than in your normal races. I don't know what his fast lap will be on hard difficulty, but the difference may not be that much faster than normal. You should have no problem winning.
@UltimateLurker 's recommendation is great, the Lexus LFA is very very good car for this race. There's no need to tune it, just buy and race. Another fantastic choice that works quite similar is the Jaguar XJ220 which is currently available at the LCD. It's less expensive and it was even quicker ( at least in my hands ) on track.Having loads of trouble with the Tokyo race. This game should be fun and challenging, this isn't either. The margin was quite thin in stock form, so I added a few parts to widen it:@UltimateLurker 's recommendation is great, the Lexus LFA is very very good car for this race. I mean, it can't be said better than this.I've done Tokyo 600 a gazillion times on Hard difficulty. The fastest AI car is definitely the NSX however it has driving issues and pit issues which prevent it from winning the race 99% of the time.
From what I can tell the AI cars are either tuned over 600pp, or some kind of Boost mode is in play. Or both.
Tokyo 600 is a strategy race more than anything else. You have to navigate tire wear, fuel depletion, a slowly drying wet track, and track limits, all with a car at 600pp or under.
And if you want to tune a car that requires even more strategy. It's gotta have manageable handling with fresh and worn tires -in wet conditions- with the pace consistency to run the majority of laps in the 2:12's to get a win with a Clean Race Bonus. You aren't just building the fastest car; you're building the smartest car.
For some that excites the 'Hold my beer' impulse. For others it has them pulling their hair out. And not much in-between.
I just finished doing the races on my second account. I once again ran the Tokyo race on easy. Gallo's first lap was 2:16. I pushed a little harder than in the first race and as expected the AI became faster. Gallo's fast lap was 2:10:055 compared to the 2:12 of the first race. You need to try it on easy and see how it compares to the others.Lexus LFA.

When I try this again I'll wall ride a few laps to get a couple of 2:06's to see if I can goad them into getting 2:07's, but I'm betting they're done at 2:08. It's certainly the fastest I've seen them run.

Just did the XJ220 bone stock and it wins easily. The fastest depends on your personal skillset and which cars feel right. The cars that I'm most sure about for easy wins with little modification are the XJ220.
I have no idea why I resisted this car for so long, but wow, what an amazing car! After only a single race I'm switching my recommendation from the LFA to the XJ220 for anyone having trouble winning.
Will give XJ220 a go...Just did the XJ220 bone stock and it wins easily.

This is why I love this car so much now:
1. The XJ220 requires no mods at all.
2. It's extremely stable, vastly more so than the LFA.
3. It gets better gas mileage than the LFA.
4. It uses tires less than the LFA.
5. It brakes nearly as well as the LFA.
6. What understeer it has can be easily corrected at the last second with a tap of the e-brake.
Overall I'm not as fast in the XJ220, about a second behind the LFA, but the crazy stability of the car makes me not even care. It's just such a better drive.
All hail the XJ220!!!
This screen cap was my first race taking it easy running 2:12 for 6 of the 12 laps!
