According to the GT7 Wiki they're both 4WD. The Gr.1 has less power and a bit more weight.

Here’s a link to the replay shared so you can go on average a second a lap faster with better consistency, pace and strategy.
Rain ruined today's total time attempt but the first four laps may be representative of something. There's quite a difference between playing it overly safe to get the CRB and going actually flat out.

Everyone else got the point in my post about wildly differing lap times still giving the same gap, it's just the rubberbanding in place - you were slower than me so your AI was slower too. That's why my extreme hypermiling test with the 2'07 laps worked just as well because it adapts to your pace, and that sucks pretty hard from a gaming point of view because it doesn't really reward being fast or punish being slow.
This is part of the reason why I look for completely stock cars well under the suggested PP. For each race event I'm searching for a car that is too low in PP for the game to slow the other cars down to but still with just enough potential to win.

It's not about laptimes and race times. It's about getting across the finish line before anyone else, no matter how long it took you to get there. It has extended the life of the game for me.

Sophy Quick races do something similar with your opponents. But I found that completely stock cars using only the tires that come with the car creates the optimum balance of challenging opponents. Especially on Professional difficulty and aiming for the Clean Race Bonus.

So what's the difference between the Gr.1 and the non-Gr.1 version? I have both and they feel the same to me.

The base version is lighter, faster, and therefore more fuel efficient. However it has few adjustability as it has no turbo upgrade, gear ratios can't be modified (although the final drive can be tweaked).

Because of that, it is a nuclear weapon from 800 to 950 pp.

Weekly picks -all on hard difficulty-
1758089602763.webp

Sunday cup classic: Stock VW Golf I GTI '83 -371PP - easy win with CRB✅
Japanese ClubmanCup 550: Afeela 1 '26 - Sport Medium tires puts it at around 560PP - Straight forward win with CRB✅
Honda N-ONE RS one-make: put some sport parts on it and a low rpm turbo, think it had around 114hp - easy win but went wide at some corners... CRB denied🚩
Nissan GT-R cup: R92CP-swapped R33 GT-R V-spec '97 - what a beast! - easy win! CRB✅
WTC 900: Lexus RC F GT500 '16 - First try I had no rain, FM1, RM, pit at end of lap 5. Came in 4th... 2nd try I pit after lap 4 for rain tires as it was really pouring down (yellow and even some pink on the radar) and fuel. Had to do a splash of fuel after lap 9, but since the closest AI went in a second time at lap 9 for inters I could win in fairly easy. No CRB 🚩 as there was contact in some overtakes and with some lapped cars being slow in the middle of the racing line... :banghead:

Daily marathon gave me a Honda Civic Type R (FK8) '20, I still 'needed' it for the new engine swap after 1.62 so I kept it!

Thanks for the clarification. Hmm, it seems that I've never tried the base version... Although, if the suspension can't be adjusted, I probably won't ever try it - the Gr.1 version has already been fast and fuel efficient enough for me so far :P

As for the Weeklies, I've sort of completed them last night - sort of, because I haven't been completely happy with the outcome and shall try better...

Tried the N-ONE for the very first time in the one-make. Drives surprisingly well - what a fun car!

The race at Alsace gave me only 3rd in hard mode after two attempts in my Lexus - have to do that one again

Monza I did in normal difficulty just for the sake of a relaxed drive after Alsace. However, I was a little bit too relaxed as it seems, as I ended up in the grass beyond the chicane on lap 2 with my Alfa...

In contrast to the former races, the GT-R was way too easy even in hard difficulty - got 1st after first lap already in my former "Le Mans grind car", the mighty R33 which I really like

The base version's suspension can be adjusted, save for the camber (which sucks, tbh)

I finally got some time to do the Weeklies this week. Not sure what difficulty I had on, but seemed like Normal.

Sunday Cup Classic: 300SL, stock, fun car, CRB
Japanese Clubman Cup: LC500, such a good car, like a Japanese SLS, CRB
N-One RS One-Make: Widebody, tuned to 400pp, CRB
GT-R Cup: 400R, stock on SS tires, probably the best race of the week.
WTC 900: F3500-A, detuned to 900pp, fairly easy, stopped on lap 6 for inters, torrential rain lasted rest of the race. Might try this race with Group C and FIA GT1. Could be a good money-making race with variety.

This coming week's races look to be completely monotonous.

Looked great until I saw the dirt track....
LOL. However, those three fictional dirt tracks in GT7 are sooooo much easier than any serious rally game. Ever tried WTC or Dirt Rally? :P

(BTW in GT7 it's not really Rally nor pure Rally Cross, is something between Rally Raid, Landrush and Rally Cross)

Great, gotta bring back out the understeer boat I created (Attempting to mimic the 99' GT-R GT500 default setup was not the move)

Well, that's what I did. I think you missed where I said that I was likely on Normal Difficulty. It took me the whole race to get to the front as well. I, by no means, am one of the quicker drivers on this forum.

Thought you meant the upcoming Skyline One Make  720PP minimum, I reckon.

Now here's one more for from the road before the next set of races is on. Took my tiny but decently fast 530 PP Toyota Sports 800 to Alsace and fought against the big guns. And the Racing God was on my side and gave me a grid that was slightly slower than usual. P1 and CRB ...

As for tomorrow I decided to not make prisoners the first round and search for true challenges later ( got a couple ideas already ) so my car selection looks like this :

Edit : Just realized the Impreza isn't eligible ... ok, gonna use the stock WRX Road Car, still good enough !
