First three races were fairly easy. I've been picking cars I simply enjoy driving atm, slightly below the suggested PP levels, and that's been more than enough for safe and clean wins. Now at Daytona, I just wasn't in a race mood so I decided to try a no stop strategy and take the win while the pack is in the pits. And it worked perfectly : Lexus VGT, RH, FM3 for 5 laps, FM2 to the line.

The Special Event is a whole different story. Don't get me wrong, I've been enjoying it, I like riding that little rocket ship, but it's been a good bit of work and practice since I didn't have any experience with the RJ161 ... or was it RA272 ?
After about 2 hours of driving and ( helplessly ) working on suspension, diff and transmission, I felt ok-ish with the car and finally won the race. No CRB though for two incidents :
1 When avoiding a complete pile up at the exit of Eau Rouge I've been cutting through the run off
2 Couldn't escape one of the AI cars who insisted on trading rubber.
Still proud of that race as everything else was ( surprisingly ) quite ok.
And thanks in advance to @CTRL Garage - looking forward to test your promising setup !

I’m pretty sure the AI has different physics. For example, I saw some impossible stuff from the AI in the replay of a grand valley 600 race on hard.
The AI run different boost tables depending on the difficulty and event chosen. When @RACECAR mentioned the T1 collision with the AI it is because it hasn’t been amended when a boost table has been applied so it’s come into a corner with a lot more speed thanks to the boost, brakes at the same point it normally would and then runs wide.

It uses the same physics. They’re just boosted with their speed in relation to the player to artificially make the race “harder”.

I'm assuming this is also why the Inostroza Porsche in the WTC 800 race at Daytona also almost always overshoots turn 3 on lap 1.

It’s not just a boost from what I’ve seen. The way I saw it go around corners is bending the physics.

Got a video of it?
If you lose time to the AI on the straights it’s the boost, if you lose time to the AI in corners it’s you or the car choice or the cars setup.

I may have saved the replay, it’s been a while. I’ll check it and if I don’t have it I may make a new one and upload it in the game.

i was losing time at the corners during the one make race and made some of it up at the straights with the default tires was 5-7 seconds faster with the grippier tires. the Carrera '95 had trouble accelerating on a wet ring track with sport tires.

the first problem is that such cars shouldn't be able to be modified. No turbos, no soft slicks,
I read this post three times to get the complete context of it and I have to disagree with the sentence above mainly in view of the "no soft slicks". In racing of the day and today you did have different grades of tyres to use during the race.
As for the AI and how they drive and how GT portrays the mechanical damage that can occur during race is how the programming is. There are limits to what can be accomplished in game, you cannot have wheels and suspension parts coming off the cars, it would tax the console in so much processing it would slow everything down.
Please think of the reality of processing power and what can be done...

Did they finally improve the frame rate drops that always seem to happen around the flags at Daytona during sunset? Every other time I've done the Daytona 800PP event there have been massively noticeable framerate drops towards the end of the race, but this time I didn't notice any on base PS5.

Another good set of races. Actually ran the Eiger race twice.

I was about half way through the race, in this Clio, when I remembered, I had an "official" car, I should've been using. So ran it again.

458pp on SS tires. Low enough on power, that the incline on the back side of the track, was very noticeable, but still was able to take the lead, on the last lap.

Took the van to Germany. Think is was around 550pp.

Used the 997 for the Porsche race. The key to this one seemed to be, just don't wreck, and you'll win. Somehow managed to get the CRB, which was a surprise.

This might've been the first time I drove this car, even though I made the livery for it, a while back.

Unfair advantage, but I love driving the GT One. Detuned to 799pp, FM 6, on RH tires, and no stop.
