In the SF race, the leader ran out of fuel. I could pass him just before the finish.

Four out of five done (hard difficulty)...

Goodwood - A112 Abarth '85 - This took a couple attempts. On the first, I added the sports-level modifications, putting it at 368PP. That wasn't enough to keep up with the others. Second try, I added some more horsepower with a low-RPM turbo, taking it over 450PP. Easy win from there.

Catalunya - Toyota 86 Gr.B Rally Car - I dislike this combo immensely. I managed to barge my way through most of the field off the start. It wasn't pretty or remotely clean. I took the lead at the end of the first lap by pushing the Audi out of the way. From there, I could drive our the remaining laps unmolested for the win.

Tokyo - Daihatsu Copen '02 - I feel like the low-RPM turbo is the secret to these K-Cup races. Shift early -- around 7500 RPM -- and the car is easily faster than the rest, making for an easy win.

CVG - Ferrari 296 GTB '22 - The only upgrade I made to the car besides the aero was the tires, to SS. I was expecting the AI to put up more of a fight. Another fairly easy win.

I gave the SF race one try this morning, doing a 8RM-7RM strategy. Only managed 7th, some 24 seconds behind the winner.

I figured I should try to improve my lap time, so I went to Daily Race A in Sport Mode to run some qualifying laps and compare my performance against the top drivers with the new data logger feature. Then my internet connection died, taking the game with it, putting an end to my morning session.

I'll give it another try on hard difficulty tonight. If that doesn't work, it'll be back down to normal difficulty for me.

I did it! Hard difficulty, RH Tyres, TC set to 2, BB -5, FM set to 4 and then 3 after a few laps.

Lap times were in the 26 and 27s, I had a 2 second lead heading into the final chicane, with a sliver of tread left on my left rear tyre. Ran out of fuel and coasted the length of the start/finish straight. I ought to have done some lift and coast or more laps on FM4, but I got the win.

I had my gear ratios set to 350 as any shorter was using too much fuel, used my overtake coming on to the back straight, letting go just after hitting 5th gear.

Hope that helps those who are struggling.

Thanks for the reminder that the overtake button exists. Feeling like a doofus now.

Maybe BB to the front plus some TC to save the tires will make no stopper work for me. I am bad at them tires.

I'm a bit quicker now at CGV after many many laps of practicing today. I still think I can do much better as well as the car can be much better - maybe I'll find a bit more the next days. I do not completely understand why I struggle that much, it's a bunch of aspects, with the most fundamental maybe that I have to leave my comfort zone for being fast here. While that 64 year old me wants a leisure cruise, the track ( with all these quick chicanes ) demands quick and precise action and hard 15 laps work. Didn't expect this honestly. I only have won in standard difficulty so far as this has been my practice mode but I think I'm ready for the real thing ... tomorrow.
As for the race strategy I've been running RM / RM at FM1 with a stop halfway through the race and I'll stick to that.

Race 5 - SF19 Toyota '19 / RM / 931,50 PP / ❎

The other races were quite easy with four first or second attempt wins, even the Rally Cross thingy is a breeze if you stop trying to be cleaner than clean ( I tried but gave up ) against sloppy AI.

I had hoped PD comes up with a reindeer sleigh leisure cruise race as a Xmas special but no ... it's a Super Formula event.

I had two more attempts at the SF CGV race. Another no stopper on hards. FM 4 most of the time. It was '19 car and I had applied a Praiano tune a long time ago. It has super long gears. I don't know if it was that or simply FM 4 but I was slooooow out of the corners. Again only low 27s at best. Hopeless.

Then I tried a stock '23 car. Medium 2-stopper this time. FM 1 all out. At least this was fun this time. I was steadily gaining lap by lap even though just a little. PB in the 23s but Miyazono decided to do alien things.

After a lap 14 pit stop he came out just ahead of me.

I managed to get by in the last hairpin though to at least beat the challenge.

I guess with practice this could be winnable.

Does anybody have recommendations regarding the car (I remember that '19 was supposed to be a tiny bit quicker) or has a good tune? It would be much appreciated.

Other races will follow the next few days.

Last one done (hard difficulty)...

CVG - Dallara SF23 Super Formula / Toyota '23 - I managed to get a little quicker on the track since my morning attempt, with laps mostly in the 1:24s on RM tires. The fastest was 1:23.5. I ran a 7RM-8RM strategy. Still, all I could muster was a P3 finish, almost 11 seconds back from the winner. Good enough for the ticket, though.

The ticket gave me the new Ferrari 296 GT3 '23 car. Good thing, since I didn't go out and buy it when the update first came out.

Guys, that MUST mean they know Yas Marina is missing its Rallycross layout RX has been gone for who knows how long so they must KNOW it's coming soon

Since when did DIRT tyres have any grip? They didn't have grip in GT2, 3, 4...

Used a stock 296 for the Goodwood race just to get to grips with it before the 296 race at CGV. Wow this thing feels rapid. It is a bit unstable under braking for my tastes but maybe its a Goodwood thing. See how I go when I attempt the 296 race this afternoon.

Well that SF race was terrible. Having to make up 25 seconds in 15 laps against opponents that outrun you out of every corner with either more power, unlimited boost or just good old rubberbanding, while using less fuel isn't my idea of fun. I tried to keep it clean (and lost a ton of time for it) but after being sideswiped I went to Wreck-it Ralph, or more like ****-it Ralph, mode and still had a much harder time than what was comfortable.

I have always avoid playing any formula races since GT3/4 days since I'm simply not good at it. I decided to give SF @ CGV a try and my fastest lap was only 26s. Finished 2nd with RH/RM, FM1 and one stop with fuel refill.

Back for a second time on my main account (hard difficulty, except for the SF race, which I did on normal)...

Goodwood - Citroen DS 21 Pallas '70 - I installed CS tires and most of the sports-level upgrades. That took the PP to 410, which was enough for P3. I wanted to get a win here, so I went back for another time after adding a low-RPM turbo. Easy win.

Catalunya - Hyundai Genesis Gr.B Rally Car - Barged my way to the front again, for another win in this wretched event.

Tokyo Expressway - Honda Beat '91 - Got it within a hair of the 400PP limit with sports-level upgrades and the low-RPM turbo. This was more of a challenge than with the Copen. Only took the lead in the final corner.

CGV - Ferrari 296 GTB '23 - Another easy win on the SS tires.

CGV - SF23 Super Formula / Honda '23 - Did a 7RM-8RM strategy for an easy win on normal difficulty.

Got bored and put it down to easy and then lapped most of the field. Never used easy before, didn't realise it was THAT easy. I just wanted a free car.

Also did the 296 race twice as I'd never used it before and didn't like it at all first race and I put race brakes on it for another go but then won too easily. One of those hype cars that just didn't get on with.

The SF races have the largest difficulty spikes in the game. Even the Red Bull races are easy on Hard difficulty.

Up to this day, I remain in belief that the Clubman Cup+ races are still the most fun and balanced.

I had the same experience, just nabbed third passing him on the final straight. Couldn’t believe my luck seeing that.

Had another go at the Super Formula race but this time in the SF19 with ABS and won by 28 seconds using the same RM/RM strategy. Fastest lap was a 1:21:289 using a bunch of overtake, no overtake or minimal usage laps were usually low 1:22. Probably still is the hardest Super Formula race just due to the nature of the track, hard to pass without losing time and there's a lot of time in the chicanes but it's difficult to be consistent. Overtake usage can make a big difference, just have to use it through 3rd and 4th out of every corner, especially if you are close to the AI.

I won this race again, this time driving like hell and stopping once. Winning this without boxing was 14 secs slower.

So, crank the rear wing up to max. I still left the brake bias all the way forward to look after the rears. Fuel mix 1 for a 10 lap stint on Hards, pitting to fit Mediums. I could've gone Softs but didn't want to run out of tyres at the end of the stint.

Fastest lap was a 1.23 flat, set on lap 14. A much more fun way to run this race, just fully send it as go as fast as possible.

SF race isn’t that bad, close finish but running RM/RM pitting on lap 8 while consistently in the 24s in traffic with TC1. Only used boost on the back straight until 6th gear.

Oldie-BMW @ 400pp at Goodwood. Got 2nd on first attempt, with a leap of 10 secs to the leader, and 3rd on second attempt, with 4 secs leap. Not sure whether I choose the wrong car or setup, or I just drive that badly, but I almost never win those 400pp races...

Rallycross at Catalunya, the only "real" rallycross circuit in GT7 (the other 3 are fictional, more "arcady" tracks like those in Gravel or Dirt 5) is the hardest one as well. I remember that I hated that track when I did it for the first time. But now, about two years later, it was honestly pretty fun - once I got used to the narrow passages and tight corners (which made me crash only once this time):

Kei Car races also have never been part of my expertise (if there is any), and I had troubles winning the Tokyo event when I originally did it. But like with the Catalunya RC, it seems that either PD made these races easier than before, or I got driving (a little) better, since I managed to win that race pretty easily this time in my Copen. Tried it another time using the Cappuccino with worked as well:

CGV #1 was the pay-to-win collect-to-play ( ) one-make, did it @ 700pp without anything special to mention:

CGV #2 SF was - actually - really fun! I'm generally bad at SF, and still haven't completed that menu book so far because these races kind of terrify me. But this is one that I enjoyed. It felt like that track was made for SF (or vice versa, SF cars were made for that track). Didn't need the cheating option I mentioned before (nor would it have paid out as of the penalties in this case). Ran RM's with FM1, pitted after lap 10 for RS's and a little fuel:

The 6* ticket gave me a Copen VGT - are you serious, PD? Well, after that first reaction I've tried that car before just blindly selling it and must say: It's much more fun than I thought, and I might keep it - you'll never know when you need it
