Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: The Van With No Name

The second set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges for 2026 are beginning to become available to players around the world as their local clocks tick over into midnight Friday morning...
At least we don't need a fistful of dollars this week for the challenges... ;)

I might just give the RS tire trick a try for the Porsche Cup this week. I'm going to have to do something drastic to get that '92 Carrera near 650PP, anyways.

Choices for tonight. And no, you are not seeing things. One of those car choices actually gave me a good laugh with how it was actually a viable option so I went "Screw it, I'm taking this".

Also, second consecutive week with the Porsche Cup so it meant I got to show off my latest creation quite earlier then I expected.

Pretty interesting week thanks to the Porsche race. Sunday Cup Classic is easy but still fun because you can use some slower cars, FF Challenge was similar although not at a great track. Didn't see the point in the time trial again, 50ish seconds and no real challenge at all. Surely they can do full laps with some interesting weather to make things more fun. Porsche Cup I ended up restarting a few times until it was raining and had a really good race in the 991 GT3 RS. Rained hard for the first 3 laps which was tricky to drive with and the last two I had the 992 GT3 RS chasing me, much faster car through the corners but managed to hold it off by a second. Difficulty will change dramatically if that car isn't in the field, but it's worth playing around to see if you can get some interesting weather. WTC 700 is also a good race but I ended up overpowering it with a swapped BMW M3 to somewhere around GTR specs, knew it was probably going to be too fast but I really wanted to drive the car and had a lot of fun anyway. Normally if you have to pit for fuel on lap 5 then 660 PP should be more than enough, sometimes the AI will mess the strategy up giving you an easy win too.

Cars for this week:

Isn't it somehow weird how easy the Special Event Time Trials are? A lot easier than many of GT7s challenges or online Time Trials. I mean, you just need bronze for the Weekly Challenge and the still give us a very low bar for gold. I golded the new one on the first try, never drove the car before, didn't even know which part of the circuit i had in front of me and had some real errors as the car Espace is very understeery on throttle. Still by far gold on firsts try, which isn't necessary. And i'm not especially competent on the game - low to mid B level.

So before going to bed last night I'd thought I'd have a look at my most recently bought cars and decide on one that i don't remember driving, then take it to one of the Weekly Challenge events...

Some demon possessed me to choose the Suzuki Carry! I've never properly raced her before and she seemed perfect for Brand's Hatch.

After a couple of attempts it became obvious that the win was out of reach for the stock machine so i tempered my expectations and decided to aim for 3rd.

Then, six very credit-inefficient attempts later, I finally managed to dodge enough traffic and keep enough momentum to see the most hilarious drag race down the home straight and clinch the bronze.

(I think the brakes are only needed once; around Druids.)

Sunday Cup Classic: Mercedes-Benz S Barker Tourer. As mentioned, I picked this just on a whim and was just laughing at how I was easily getting by the field.
Japanese FF Challenge 450: Honda N One RS. My Trusty Street Fighter Returns once more.
Porsche Cup: Porsche 911 GT3 (996). One of said projects mentioned last week, my 2001 Cup Car build was more then enough to sub in for my previous workhorse.
World Touring Car 700: Toyota GR Supra Race Car. No real thoughts, just got it.
Special Event: Abit easier then I was expecting, though Pouhon was abit puckery for me

My choices for the weeklies:

Sunday Cup Classic: '62 Mercedes Unimog. Picked it up in the Classic dealers last week and tuned it up...thought it'd be funny. Beat the 2nd place Golf GTI '83 by over 2 seconds. That exhaust stack is insane!
Japanese FF Challenge 450: Stock Mitsubishi FTO. That track is enough of a pain going the right way round...and that's without the Honda Fit holding up traffic
Porsche Cup: Porsche 911 Turbo '20. Only upgrade was sports suspension but wasn't necessary. Used it for the Porsche Weekly Race at Catalunya last week after finding out the hard way that a tuned 997 GT3 on Sports Hard tyres can be a handful...
World Touring Car 700: Bought an Alfa Romeo 4C Gr.4 race car for Daily Race B, whacked a High-RPM turbo on it and a nice Martini livery to match. Turned the ECU down a notch to get under PP regs, Racing Hard tyres and even on FM6 this race was easy enough.
Special Event: Despite the Formula 1 chassis and Racing Soft tyres it still handles like an Espace...still got a gold time...

Apologies to RACECAR for stealing your formatting it just worked

had a quick rainshower at spa Porsche race did not effect the track very much main rival last 2 Porsche races is wong.
It rained for me pretty bad on my first try, I was on Racing Softs and spun off the track water level icon thing went into the dark blue area, I finished second as it happened on the penilutimate lap and I had no grip, the next race when the rain came I went into the pits for Inters only to find I wasn't allowed to pit and change tires but the rain was constant but not that bad so I was able to hold on with the Racing Softs.

Had a couple of exams again at the local hospital so there wasn't too much time left for the new challenges. Decided to do the four races only and shift the TT to tomorrow. Some of the cars I used were brand new and though I had detuned them all to what seemed somehow reasonable they all were tougher and stronger than the rest, the races quite easy accordingly. The fun ? ... immense !

Race 1
A new old barn find Barker. Would have been a shame to not take it to town again. CM / 374,60 PP

Race 2
My Evo swapped Mazda 2. In a race with tire wear the front would hardly survive a single lap. CM / 498,40 PP

Race 4
The 911 Turbo S raced at Barcelona last week, took me 1.250 km from Spain to Spa, and raced again. SS / 649,00 PP

Race 5
The Megane is another new entry, equipped with an Espace F1 engine. Super fun and a bit of a warm up for tomorrow. RH / 675,90 PP
