I won the WTC800 in the Merc-AMG GT3 '20, using RS tyres - 2 stops, and TCS 2 to reduce tyre wear - switching between FM5 and FM2/3... managed a couple of 1:39s, but won comfortably after Beauvois pitted at the end of Lap 14... it always annoys me slightly when the AI pits from the lead at the start of the final lap as it's pretty poor strategy to end up with that; but I'll take the win anyway. I also got the CRB again, so bagged a healthy 727,500 Cr..
Good job, actually. The AMG-GT3 was quite a boat compared to the Supra (and remember the Supra being dominant in Sport Mode before BoP favored the BRZ?).

The AI Fraga and his Supra are a pain in the butt to deal with on Hard difficulty, and to beat the cheat, we have to cheat.

A good Gr.3 FR is quite hard to tune. But if you want a dominant FR Gr.3 outside the BRZ GT300... remember the Beetle?

Adapting GP's famous line: "No risk, full push!"; it can do 4 laps on FM1, and can catch the Viper on Lap 4. Racing Softs and no turbo upgrade needed at all.

Tire wear is even better than Fraga's Supra (who also dons Softs).

Thinking of doing an experiment with the F3500 race. Was watching my video and I have a theory I want to test: 12 laps on Mediums and then pit before completing the final 6 laps on softs, idea being that 6 laps on softer rubber with half the fuel load will leave me with much faster laps (and probably a bigger gap) then the AI pitting for Mediums on full fuel loads.

I guess I haven't done this race since then, so just a quick question: Is a no stopper on Group C possible on hard mode? I guess fuel and tires shouldn't be a problem but not sure about the pace (and rubber banding) of AI. Pitstops take less time here than on LM IIRC.
Group Cs have no problem against the Gr3s. A 1-stop strategy on FM1, short shifting works better for my driving style though.

A no stop run works in the Jaaaag XJ-R9 too.

Gran Turismo® 7_20260308235946.webp

FM6 with short shifting for the first 2 laps. Then FM5 short shifting at half the rev bar for the rest of the race. The tires were properly cooked by the end, but the handling was still OK. My driving style is very rough on tires, so you may have better luck.

Gran Turismo® 7_20260308235919.webp

Super Fraga got petty and ran a 1:37.9. I got vindictive and kept improving until I hit 1:37.6. When in the rhythm, I ran mostly 1:38s.

It took forever to catch everyone, but the race was over once Super Fraga made his first pit stop.

Cars of this week
All on hard difficulty

Went for mostly classic cars. Pretty uneventful..

Sunday Cup: Abarth 1500 Biposto Bertone '52, permanent engine upgrades only. Easy win, CRB ✅
Japanese FR Challenge 450: Nissan Fairlady Z 432 '69, sport tires and brakes. Another easy win, CRB✅
Schwarzwald League: Mercedes W196R '55, sport soft tires to account for potential rain. There wasn't any to speak of but ok... Won with around 10s. CRB✅
World Touring Car 800: Suzuki V8-swapped Radical SR3 SL '13, mid turbo and tuning, racing hard got me to 740-750PP. 2-stop -> L6: fuel, L12: fuel + tires. Finished P2 behind Fraga (+9-10s)/ Good for the ticket. CRB✅
Special Event: Stock, but for sport hard tires. Knowing the track because of the latest TT in the M3 paid off. Win, CRB🚩

6* car-ticket got me the Ferrari 296 GT3 that i sold for 700K.

Tried three more cars yesterday at Sardegna just for the fun and a bit of practice since they all were quite new to me.
Three pretty different cars resulting in pretty different experiences. I'm not good at tuning so be sure there's really nothing special regarding the setups.

Numero uno : The Suzuki-swapped Escudo. It's the WTC 700 competition killer anyway but this works for WTC 800 events as well.
My car sat slightly above 700 PP. Using FM 3 - FM 4 on RH tires, a one stop strategy is easily possible. The car isn't much faster than the Gr.3 competition regarding top speed and acceleration, the big benefit is its cornering and being decent on tires and fuel.
An easy win and the most fun possibly.
WC_260306_B6.webp

WC_260306_R6.webp

Numero due : A more standard attempt with a 775 PP Ferrari 296 GT3. No idea whether a one stop is possible at all, for me it's been the classical three stint race on RM tires without fuel saving except some short shifting every now and then.
It's possible to run the 5 - 5 - 5 variant or the 6 - 3 - 6 if you're tempted to use soft compound for a fast lap. I tried both but honestly I didn't benefit much from the latter for whatever reason ( may be the car, more likely me driving it ). Still an easy win.
WC_260306_B7.webp

WC_260306_R7.webp

Numero tre : Needed a lot of patience and good nerves for this fuel saving mission. I'm talking about the TVR Tuscan, Camaro-swapped. Loud and rough, I like the car. Well, the whole thing turned into some extreme exercise in coasting and short shifting.
With its DF disadvantage I didn't see a way to win the race with a two stop strategy, so it's been FM 6 on RM tires all the way and ... fuel saving for that 8 lap first stint. Relaxation, a sigh and a really nice race afterwards.

I did the WC on Friday but I was busy this weekend so I'm posting today.
Started out with the WTC so I decided to try the Espace there. I started with RM but then I figured I might be able to use RS so I started over. I switched over to RS and I was able to get 7 laps on RS on FM4. By the end of the 7th lap the all 4 tires were red. I switched to RM and FM6 to finish the race and win.

Next for the Ring I used the Merc Gr3 car that I had detuned to 700 ppm. I think after 10 or 11 years I might finally be getting used to Ring. I only went off track once. Came in 1st.

Next I did the FTO race

For the FR Japan race I used a car I hadn't used in awhile the swapped Chaser (oops) Crown

Finally for the last race I wanted to do quickly and took the swapped HiAce there

- No turbo upgrade. Just downforce, suspension, brake balance and differential tweaks. Default ABS is the only driving aid.

- RS tires; Fuel Map 1 and pit every 4 laps for new Softs and fuel.

- Just like GP said: "No risk, full push!"

- Profit

"Verstappen" did not allow Fraga to take his fastest lap.

Seeing the 65 Mini at the UCD today I immediately thought of taking the Honda swapped version around the Nordschleife against mighty Porsches, AMGs and BMWs. Having a little experience with overpowered dwarfs from the 595, I roughly knew what to expect. Actually piloting that thing around the Ring in the wet still made me sweat though, it's a fragile handful for sure.
I did not use a maxed out car, restricted the power a good bit, added weight and went with SS instead of RS of course to stand the rain. 574,65 PP were enough though to win the race. A CRB was not awarded but I can claim I've been showing maximum respect for everyone on track.

Showing respect ( and avoiding a heavy impact ) for the anxiously braking Sugawara taking on Mutkurve.

On a sidenote :
I want to second @RCKakashi14 regarding the Pagani Zonda R ... which is fabulous car for the WTC 800 event. I hop into the rocket ship every now and then and it's always a great ride - I should do that way more often. Absolutely recommended !

First race was funny but way too short - could have driven that track for hours, I got in a "flow" state fast, it's like alway "left-left-right-left"...

Highspeed Ring is definitively not one of my favorites, as the "inner" corners are a somewhat awkward contrast to the "outer" ones, but at least the bridge and the tunnel are fun :P

For me, the BMWs in GT7 are somewhat the "German Mustangs". Not only visually, but also behavior-wise: Many of them tend to understeer and oversteer at the same time (ie. understeering at corner entry while oversteering on exit). Mine didn't have a customizable suspension, so LSD and downforce where the main parameters to adjust. Unfortunately the small wing doesn't provide enough rear downforce to fully mitigate the oversteering, so didn't TCS 3, so the remaining option was driving quite carefully around Nordschleife. While that strategy paid out at the end of the day, I still found myself spinning twice...

The one-make is way too long for my favor, quite boring TBH. Didn't have much of a chance at 450pp, and 550pp was too easy, but without any motivation to further adjust I just moved on.

The WTC at Sardegna always remembers me of my "good old grind days" (same at Le Mans), so was eager to see that race again in the Weeklies. However, it came to a disappointment. Chose the RS5 DTM with RHs which isn't as fast most of my "grind cars" (such as the R18 TDI, the Lexus Gr.2 or any of the Group C legends), but it still worked out well. But after the race, the game immediately crashed without giving me a chance to make a photo or store the replay. Furthermore, upon restarting I realized that my balance has been stuck to exactly 100M Credits, meaning that most of the race reward was lost - seems to be a PS4 restriction, as other players obviously have more than 100M. Starting the race again in order to have a chance to make a photo led to a second crash... the third attempt finally worked:

Won a SF 19 Honda from the 6* which I already had :/

Gotta love the sandbox nature of the game.

After running my forbidden base LM55 VGT, a thought suddenly came into my head:

What if I "repurpose" select Gr. 1 cars into LMP3-spec machines?

Criteria:

  • Must not be a hybrid.
  • Downforce levels must be 800 front and 1400 rear.

- Must meet the 800 pp limit on RACING SOFTS.

- Horsepower limit must be at 470 HP; while weight should not be less than 2300 lbs.

- No turbo upgrades allowed.

- Custom gearbox must be equipped, with the top speed capped at 300 km/h.

So far, the pace of this diesel Audi is quite similar to the Gr.3 crowd, even slower than the likes of the Viper, but the downforce levels more than make up for the lack of straight line pace. I might increase the HP (as it ran on 447 HP/2301 lbs.) while increasing the weight as well.

Experiment doing good, and it will make a great plot point to my racing story too.

Really loving the sandbox nature of GT, which sadly a lot fail to see.

@ROCKET JOE beat me to posting the "German" classic Mini at the Schwarzwald League event at the Nurb.

I also have an affinity for pocket rocket sleds. No clean race bonus for me because everyone brakes earlier than me (especially when I am preparing to overtake), despite me having the worst brakes of the field by far and the equivalent of 3 adults in ballast sitting on the nose of my car.

Gran Turismo® 7_20260310172631.webp

No matter how many times I restarted the race, whenever I ran Racing Soft tires, the rain would come. BUT, when I had given up and switched to Sports Softs, the race would be bone dry.

For maximum absurdity, I ran Intermediates. And yes, both of those races were clear and sunny 🫠

Still, I had a blast guiding my little monster around the ring.

This week's events have been sort of forgettable. So, i have been mainly focused on the WTC 800 race at Sardegna. I have been on an Aston Martin kick lately as well as PD putting the Vulcan trackday car in the wrong category. I set myself a challenge to see if I could get the Vulcan to win it.

Attempt 1: This was a fact-finding mission to see what was possible with the stock configuration. I maxed out the downforce on both front and rear. On FM6 with Hards, I had to stop for fuel every 4 laps and I did get to Lap 12 on tires, but the grip was gone by that time. Pace wasn't too bad, being in the 41s and 42s. Fraga was in his unbeatable pace for this race, so 2nd was all i could get out of that attempt, especially with a spin early on.
WC 3.6.26 WTC 800 Vulcan 1.webp

Attempt 2: This was on my other account, so the Vulcan I had was completely stock and I didn't mess with the downforce before the race. After the first attempt, I wanted to try Meduims and see if they could last the 8 laps that I was changing the Hards at. I got Fraga on a more normal pace. I employed the same strategy of pitting every 4 laps for fuel, with a tire change on the 2nd stop. I could probably have gotten into the 39s with max downforce, but I was slightly quicker on the Mediums.
WC 3.6.26 WTC 800 Vulcan 2.webp

I might try another attempt with the max downforce and Mediums just to see how quick I can go with the road car fuel mileage. The other issue is trying to control the wheelspin. The Vulcan overall is a good match to the GT3s in these races.

Interesting...

...I might add that to my "research" list.

A stock Vulcan should already suffice. 🤔

Got a gut feeling that the new 800 pp race in CGV will be featured in the upcoming challenges.

With how much of a challenge this track has been in most other vehicles (I dare not even think about what a hard time it would be in a GR.1 car OR the Red Bull cars), I expect a massively hard time in GR.3 knowing the regular AI. Just pondering where they are gonna make me lose my CRB.

I just got Gold in that track's Circuit Experience a while ago. 1:35.5.

F1 24 and 25 helped me a lot.

Will use that as my benchmark for that upcoming race.

Not a memorable week (on hard difficulty), as I found 3 of the 5 events rather suboptimal for my taste. The first two pretty much gone before goodbye. I also hate Autopolis so a bit of a bummer as much as a chance to drive the FTO is always welcome

But at least the other two concentrated all the fun!

Any day I get to drive in the Green Hell is a good racing day and the Schwarzbald league event allowed me to get the 911 GT3 RS '16 out for a spin. On the plus side, got a sunny day to enjoy the scenery (which, obviously got me crashed into a barrier as I got distracted by the beauty of it  Mental note to myself: Next time, better take the vintage Carrera RS '73 and do a tourist day first. The second try went much better and, being patient, paid off for an easy win with CRB. Yikes, not something I usually get in Nordschleife!

Now, that WTC 800 at Sardegna was quite entertaining!

I decided to continue with the Porsche theme this week (man, I do love Porsche brand!) and chose the Liqui Molly 992 GT3 R, tuned with a high rpm turbo and RM tires.

My strategy was to try a 1-stopper with RMs and undercut the rest of the field. So, FM6, short-shifting and some lift & coast was the name of the game.

First go ... only to make and error on lap 3 that cost me some 20s. Tried to carry on and see if the strategy would get me in the podium, but then later discovered the AI in this circuit has some nasty aggressive attitude (I don't do grinding in Sardegna, so not that used to it). I got punted by somebody exiting a slow turn and then later, on lap 11, a punk came into my rear side at pit exit while I was in the main straight. So, 4 360-spins later, I found myself fuming and out of contention. P4 was all I got at the end.

I definitely tried to bring my A-game the next try. Keep concentration and situational awareness. Gained 4 and 5 places, respectively, the first two laps while maintaining the gap to the front pack, then led by Portilla in the Viper. Portilla pitted at the end of lap 4 for RHs with much of the midfield following suit, which got me to P5 on lap 5. The next lap, Fraga and his Supra pitted for softs while the other top 4 pitted for hards.

Here I was, lap 6 and leading the race! Morale boost ... and a PB of 39.6 on that lap. I then tried to extend the life of the RMs tires for a first stint of 8 laps in order to have a shorter second one. Fuel was not going to be an issue either (or so I thought) so I switched to FM5 after the pitstop. Surprised to see Portilla coming for a second set of RHs at the same time I pitted end of lap 8.

Fraga made his 2nd pitstop at the end of lap 10 for another set of softs and just squeezed by Portilla's Viper for P2, parking its Supra at T1 in order to defend from the Viper's already warm tires.

Portilla on the hards kept within 1s of Fraga. Could he pull a stunner? Nope. I'm afraid somebody won't be returning for another race in Portilla's strategy team, as the Viper had to make a 3rd stop for quick dash of fuel on lap 13. Good for P3 but totally ruined his chances of P2 or better.

Once Fraga made his 2nd pitstop, I was ahead some 5 seconds but Fraga, not having to save fuel, would be a threat once his softs started working, which they promptly did as the gap went down to a couple of seconds the next two laps. From there on, my race stabilized, I did my quick lap of 38.8 on lap 12 and extended the gap to 3s.

The final two laps, with plenty of lapped traffic and Fraga's tires already suffering, gave me the final victory with a 5s gap to P2. Jolly good race!

P.S. About that fuel management or lack thereof in the 2nd stint ... I coasted to the finish line with no fuel left the final 100/200m. Quite on the mark! :D
