Should be some good all-round competitive racing this week, Midfield is one of the most competitive tracks on the calendar, and also one of the easiest. But don't be fooled, you can get caught out in quite a few places!

Hopefully a few more people will race this week.

THE RACE: Midfield. One of the most flowing tracks around.

THE RULES:

1. No hybrids
2. No wall riding
3. No shortcuts
4. No cheating
5. Save your replay
6. If possible, upload your replay onto the forums
7. A photo of your time is not required, but can be added if you like.
8. Please, NTCSers, don't use any of the 900hp + monsters
9. Running wide is allowed, but obviously it will slow your time.
10. The rumble strip is considered part of the track.
11. Have fun.
(If you think any more rules should be added here, PM me.)

THE DEADLINE: The dealine for your time to be in is Sunday, midnight, your time (meaning that you can race til 11:59 your local time then give me your time).

Testing will be held on the Free Run version of the course, with the actual race being held in the Hard Single Race mode. You can run the race as many times as you like to get the best time possible.

Testing officially starts now, and will finish on Friday, with racing time being all weekend.

You can discuss all of your intermediate times, but not you're whole lap. You can give generalisations, ie "I got down below 1'20", but not specific lap times.

Go have some good fun! :D

Should we actually aim for a certain time to beat? I never actually tried to setup the F1 for Midfield, so if anyone could give an approximate good time to beat, I would very much appreciate. I know for sure its something in the 50's, maybe high 40's ??

Peace

Well the top guys have got into the 49's but I've never broken 50. I think a 50.5 is my best there but I'm not sure. The key is to be aggressive, you can have an okay lap that looks fast, while still losing time subtely.

I don't think I'll be participating this week due to other racing and real life obligations, but I'll be back next week for some wet racing action

thanx Sough

I myself might have to skip this race because of an exam next Monday. I'll try to study as much as possible before hand to leave some time on either Saturday or Sunday.

Later all,
peace

guess where im running the ATM;)

sorry to see ya miss this week mate, but R/L takes priority over GT
catch ya next week around one of my fave tracks 👍

Best sector times so far: T1 15.1, T2 30.2 (i think but it would be pretty close to that)

cheers all:cool:

Well I may squeeze this in, but just don't count on it. Sorry if this is selfish but in a 27 week long series with no points standings, I really don't feel obligated to do every single race.

fair enough, a points system would give us all an incentive
...hint hint to no-one in particular ;) :)

 Nice try...

Best T2 of 30.xxx at the moment, but stuffed the hairpin (no TCS/ASM = sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiide! ;))

well I started testin just now - Im about half a second or so off Bollocks
Is there a competition for the best jay-turn in the tunnel after the hairpin !!
I think Ive won it a few times over already ! damn car ! :banghead: Just go in a straight line will you !

I gave Midfield a go yesterday.. T1 15.4, T2 31.0

You guys dont use any TCS at all? I put 1 in TCS for the hairpin, just in case. I'm pretty close to what Sough said about quick lap times on Midfield, but you guys are posting T2's that make it seem you are either IN the 49's or really close... If thats the case, I still have alot of work to do with my settings.

Later all

I have TCS on a 1 too. Might not seem tho sometimes - and there I was thinkin it was nigh on impossible to spin an F1 car !!1
I dunno about a lap time of less than 50 for me 51 for that matter ! but we can but try I suppose !
Good luck with yer setts T13R :D

I guess we can make it our goal to get into the 50's.. And with a bit of luck, who knows... maybe in the 49's?? hehe

cheers  -> ( this seems like a popular way of ending a post, guess I'll use it too :) )

Sorry, this may be completely off topic.. but how many posts before we become anything else but a 'New Member' !?!

Makes it seem like I'm a GT3 noob... :banghead:

dont know

i think i have the TCS on around 3 or 4 just for that hairpin so i can get the drive out of the corner (dont mean i still dont get sideways but)

Big James: I wouldnt have all the points in any case, someone else in here is beating me to the punch, I wonder who that is....;)

Sandstorm: spoilsport :p :D

I'm running T2s in the high 30s at the moment, with no TCS and 3 ASM. The hairpin doesn't really bother me that much, just gotta remember to keep off the rumble strip, or you'll end up sliding out, going off to have a chat with a certain outside wall... ;)

I think I need some understeery settings, I'm losing time through the first turn and the turn before and in the tunnel due to slide (whole car slide, not tail-slide). I brake extremely late, ie at the corner, so maybe that's a factor. Maybe I need more ASM? Forget TCS, I found sumfin else better than that... :trouble:

think its 100 ?

Guess I'll just keep posting.. just that i dont want to post crap to be able to change my member status... I tried writing a provocative post in a American Lancer Evo 8 thread treating japanese car makers like inferiors, and no one responded! You can read the post here.

I think its easy to say its gonna be super tight this week at Midfield. Maybe a few surprises? I see everyone seems to be in the 30's at T2. Guess it will be consistency more than being quick on a single lap that will do it. ( This adds me another post ( which isnt about crap hehe) )

Are you sure you aren't mixing up tcs and asm sandstorm? I can't imagine needing 3asm or more, but a bit of tcs can give your tires bite when you need to slam the throttle. Although I'm no expert at midfield.

I thought that a bit when I read the ASM - You deffo need a bit of TCS though for out of the hairpin !

Yea thats what I thought also, but surprisingly enuff, no one seems to have gotten offended by it...[

where can i find some settings for this damn track. I had done a lap which was as fast as my setup could go. I played around a whole bunch with my settings but nothing good... So I get back to my saved settings ( oil change and everything ) and I cant even match my fastest lap anymore. This is getting frustrating. By the way, quickest lap ever in Midfield is a 49.0## .

I think im the type of person who needs settings to go fast :(

Your quickest lap is a 49.0??

I'm not mixing ASM and TCS, just ASM at 3. I probably need TCS at 1 or 2 (with no ASM) for the hairpin, but honestly, if you keep off the kerb at the hairpin with no TCS, you'll do fine. You can put the power down and you'll cruise out nicely. :D

He meant the fastest lap at midfield is a 49.0xx, not that he did it.
Sandstorm, the thing with asm is it brakes when you get slightly unstable. For F1's I only use it at 1 sometimes, when I'm doing a race and I don't want to spin and it might save the tires a little. It slows you down AND makes it harder to turn, so if you want real fast times I say ditch it. Of course some may disagree with me.

Well Ive bin practicing today and managed to bring times down to a reasonable 50.???
Spose today I realised that I shud spend more time actually racing instead of testing - I think in the previous weeks I spent ages and ages tesing then got fed up of running the track come sunday
So Im happy with a 50.??? and if I can run 4 of them in the race on Sunday I'll be a happy bunny !!
