There's a difference between posting A LOT, and posting too much, aka spamming. All the people on the first 2 pages of the member listing have been here for a long long time, we "know" each other, so yeah, we like to joke around with each others.

There used to be a page full of all kinds of stats. People let post counts go to their heads. Jordan dropped a bunch of it including post counts in threads.

About the only place to find it is in the member list. Which is about right. It lets you know how's really active and who's not.
 
Top of Page 11 (20 users per page)! Funny thing is I made page 11 after 3 months here, yet you won't find a post of total crap (except maybe this one). I bet 700-800 of my 1,099 Posts are in the GTA Forum.

This is a perfect example of the Spoils System. I know I have very little power here (if any at all) but it's not fair to hunt down and destroy other GTPers for spamming and then open a thread like this one and use the excuse of "knowing each other" to make it seem alright.

Anderton, this is the Rumble Strip. This is just an open chat thread designed for a little fun with the Post Count. What you are doing is inciting flaming, which I think is just as bad as Spam.

In my opinion, if you aren't a moderator or a high-up person on GTP, I suggest you click on your "Back" button up the top and move onto the next thread.

Don't get me wrong, please don't take this as a personal attack, but I find it annoying when someone comes in like that and contributes nothing to the topic, and just attacks the thread when they aren't a moderator.

You're fairly new Anderton (although I can't talk, lol), it's just kind of a lesson. Anyway, back to topic I say...

I'm not sure really. I've seen you around, but I haven't been here long enough to know all of the more important people. I also believe there are people important to certain forums, but out of their forums they aren't overly important. For example, Spuds725 is probably the most respected Grand Theft Auto player on this forum, yet I wouldn't think he could demand as much respect from people outside of that forum.

That's my view on things anyway.

Well I visit the site every day looking for new and interesting things to discuss. The Rumble Strip is often a source of such topics, as it is designed for "off-topic chit-chat", and I admit I like to discuss non-important things. But this here forum is NOT supposed to be for "a little fun with the Post Count."

It wastes people's time because we come in here looking for a good discussion and find this CRAP.

If stating my opinion is "inciting flaming" then I'm guilty as charged, but so is every other user on this site.

You're acting as a complete killjoy at the moment. Every now and then (not too often) there is a thread like this one that lets various GTP members relieve from hard-thinking as they post information and rack their brains to help others. This is one of those relief threads. This is not SPAM, as SPAM is something that is not aimed on the topic. As far as I'm concerned, each post here was regarding the topic. The Test Forum was closed because of real Spam, where people would drift off topic and post meaningless junk that had no point what so ever.

Please, let us have our fun. Threads like this die in short time anyway. Let it go, move on and don't post in threads that you find to be "crap". Just try not to make things difficult.

Let the Moderators decide what is Spam and what isn't.

While we're at it how about we can the whole drift forum? Because a lot of people use it and it's kinda nice for them.

The guidlines are pretty simple. Be intelligent. Be polite. Contribute to the community. And apparently there are a few people who like this thread.

When you're out numbered sometimes it's a good idea to gracefully bow out.

To some extent, Anderton, you are correct, and I applaud your recent push for fair and ethical treatment of all downtrodden members. Amnesty International must be very proud of you.

In all sincerity, I try to be a fair and impartial staff member, and most of the other active mods do as well. It doesn't always happen, that's true. However, you should investigate the difference between a clear and recognizable pattern of pointless idiocy, and the occasional dip into silliness of an otherwise-contributing member in good standing.

Just like a cop has the authority to give you a verbal warning or a written ticket, depending on your driving history, the staff has discretion on when to look the other way for a user is a contributing member. Trust me on this, none of us seek out and persecute newer members. I've recently issued strikes to several people who have been here more than a year. Darin had been here almost as long as I have, if not longer, before we finally pulled his plug.

My point exactly. Like I said before, let the Moderators (like good ol' neon_duke 'ere) decide when to put a stop to something. I sincerely hate fighting on forums, especially on one as respectable as this. Now I'm not saying this turned ugly, as it was just a few different views, nothing serious. But if you seen the GTAGaming incident where 3 of the most regular and contributing Mods walked out because of Forum flaming and disrespect, you will come to see why Moderators try to avoid arguments. GTAGaming will possibly not be as regular and frequent as it once was, thanks to some stupid incidents in the Forums.

Now I just want to leave it at that, but this is nothing personal Anderton, I've been talking normally to you in other threads, I just wanted to make a point to all of the much more newer people of what GTP Forums are all about.

I wasn't implying that the moderators are biased towards new members or anything like that. But maybe I should "bow out" of this one, since the likely end result will be some of you guys hating me, which will tarnish my already slightly shaky reputation, which might someday prevent me from being included in future threads like this one.

Don't worry. I will just pretend this never happened, as you were just learning a small GTP lesson. I don't hate anyone, regardless if anyone doesn't like me. I prefer to be less worried about Spam, etc and let the Mods deal with it, otherwise things like beforehand occur.

You'll fit in just fine, don't worry. ;) :lol:
