Acura for boredom!

Start you engines for the 9th race of the Weekly Endurance Series.
After last week’s short track expo, I thought something a little longer would be in order, but,
driving an interesting car that will be challenging over the lumps and bumps of this lovely track.
So, I thought I would roll out one of my favourite cars for a change.

Mode : ARCADE
Race type : SINGLE RACE
Location: ORIGINAL CIRCUITS/APRICOT HILL(REVERSE)
Car: JAPAN / ACURA / ACURA NSX '04

Initial Settings
Transmission : Manual/Auto - Your choice

A.I. : +10

Now go into the options screen, and adjust the settings in ARCADE to the following:

Number of Laps : 28
Tyre Wear : STRONG
Driving Aids : NONE
Penalty : SPEED LIMITER
Time Limit : NONE

Exit, and now go into the quick tune-up section, and change the settings to the following:

Power : +20% @ 335 Hp
Weight: -10% @ 1287 Kg
Top Speed : N/A
Driving Aids : NONE
Transmission : Your Choice
Tyre Type : SPORTS
Front Tyres : SPORTS SOFTS ONLY
Rear Tyres : SPORTS SOFTS ONLY

You will now be set up for the race, there is no qualifying to do, just the race!

DEADLINE :
numberoneaq1bvm2.gif

Midnight GMT SUNDAY night, FEBRUARY 3RD

RULES:

You must use the settings laid out above at all times.
You must try to keep 2 wheels on the track at all times.
An occasional off is to be expected, but use your judgement and morals to decide if you have gained from it or not. If you have gained, or feel that you have taken an advantage from the off, then please bin the race and re-start.
A.I. contact is allowed, but NO penalties are allowed.
NO wall contact is allowed.
All podium times will be verified by the posting of either a replay or a photo of the screen showing your final time AFTER the deadline is past.
Any suspicious times will be investigated by either myself or where appropriate an NTSC user of my choice.
All decisions of the Administrator (me) are final, any cheating of any kind what so ever, will be dealt with in the appropriate manor.
You may discuss any splits or individual lap times, just not your final times.

Times should be sent to myself (Tyre King) via PM by the above deadline, as marked by the GTPlanet PM system time stamp.
Replays and screen shots should be posted in this thread after that time has passed.

Time sending format:

Name :
Race Time:
Race Fastest lap:
Pitting strategy : BE SPECIFIC!

RESULTS FOR THE RACE!

1st GTXDriver - 43'44.825 - 1'29.326 = 13pts

3rd Delfino - 44'38.670 - 1'31.462 = 9pts

Love this combo, did almost the exact combo a few years ago at another forum, the only difference was the direction. A great course for the NSX, and I love Apricot reverse much more then forward, same with Deep Forest. Gonna do my first run tonight.

EDIT: I'd have posted this in the last race thread but it's closed so I'm posting here. I'm still not convinced that the adjusted settings for the Fairlady in the last race make the cars equal, I can say this without it sounding like sour grapes since I won. I'm going to take the NTSC settings and run a lap at the test course with AI difficulty set at -10 so drafting won't enter into the results. Using the single race mode so I start from a stand still and then post my time. If someone using PAL will do the same with their adjusted settings we should get a good idea how close the cars are with the adjusted settings. Run with TCS on so the start is equal (no spinning tires or starting in second gear) and RM/RM tires. Ill post in this post when I'm done so I just need a PAL driver to do the same. I just want to put my mind at ease because I think the NTSC will be faster.

OK, did my lap with gearing at 360,TCS on. Lap time 2'06.893

To be honest Andy, I wouldn't worry about it too much buddy.
The finishing order was you (NTSC), me (PAL), Marty (PAL), Chris (NTSC) & Phil (NTSC) + Joe (NTSC+NNF)
Now I know we are fairly equal, and Marty is a fast old bugger too, so for that matter is Chris (apart from the old bit, that is, lol)
So for all of us to finish within 4.5 seconds, or so, over 30 laps means that the specs were OK!
There may have been some issues if we were on a different track, but GV East is an equaliser for power/grip!
A more powerful version of the car will have greater demands placed on it's tyres, and a less powerful car will grip better.
Both end up with very comparable times and tyre-wear when looked at over a race distance.

But if it will make you feel better I'll do the test myself tomorrow, after doing the usual Friday shopping/bill paying trip into town.

Don't mean to be a pedant Neil, but I'm a PAL racer. :)

Good combo this one, but I'm out on my Geography field trip in the deep west of Wales from tomorrow morning to Wednesday evening, so I'm going to have to wait a while until I can get out on the track with the Acura. :grumpy:
Good luck to everyone who's going to take part in this week's round! :)

Joe

A very 'user-friendly' NSX .. though engine braking aint much fun .. ran a 3 stop last night ... cant imagine anyone trying a 2 stopper .. or would Neil be  enough ?

Fastest lap .. 1.31.xxx

Car suggestion for a future race : VW W12 NARDO CONCEPT

BTW .. some great close racing at Grand Valley .. well done Drew .. hope your not too drunk to make it to Apricot .

Sorry Joe! But it would help is you filled out some of your profile info in 'my GTPlanet'
We aren't a bunch of ax wielding homicidal maniacs, bent on world domination! (unless there is an un-known liquid in a coke can around!)
So you can share your details!

Let's see if ANYONE gets the reference?:sly:

Neil

No Marty I'll stumble in. A two stopper is impossible, except maybe for Neil. I haven't broken into the 1'31's yet but have only run 21 laps so far. The NSX needs to be thrown around the corners by lifting off the accelerator or engine braking in your words, I'm just getting the hang of it. Seven laps to a pit is gonna be the standard for everyone I think. A 1'32.2xx was my best on my first 21 laps, I'll get into the 1'31's tonight or I won't go to bed :)

What on earth are you smoking Neil, can you send me some? Also I've been known to wield an ax on occasion but prefer a 9mm.

And no Neil, I didn't get the reference, but consider the source:)

Unfortunately, nothing!

But if it helps....... Ade Edmundson, Rik Mayall, Nigel Planer, Alexei Sayle and Christopher Ryan as a cast list should kick-start some neurones!

Neil

Bonehead and Foyle and/ or The Young Ones? or 'Comic Strip Presents ...

First time doing the WES, thought I would put some info in. Ran this once and only did 2 stops but lost the race. Is this common in these races? Or is the whole point in addition to fast times to win the race? Should I just be concerned about my times?

I'm about to make another run so hopefully I wont get stuck with the Tokyo show GT-R this time running away from me.

Also fastest lap was 1'31.xxx, which seems to be on point.

Wow, you can get 10 laps on SS tires and strong tire wear, that's pretty amazing. I'm not sure the "Tyre King" can do that and he can squeeze more laps on a given tire then anyone here at GTP. Very impressive, I'm not doubting you but double check your settings just to be safe.
Winning the race is not important, it's your time that is, and I doubt you'll get a lineup without the GT-R.

Drew's right, winning the race is not essential, it's your finishing time that is important.
Just remember to always double check your settings, and if you don't finish in 1st place......make sure you send in YOUR time, not the time that the race was finished in.
The time on the splash screen at the end of the race is the race time, the time in the replay theater when you save your replay is your time!

When I first started doing the longer races available here, I made the mistake of just jotting down the time on the splash screen without making a note of how far behind I was and adding the two together. Once or twice! (quickly corrected by myself, I might add)
It's an easy mistake to make, so now I make sure I don't have that problem any more as I always make sure I win the race! :D

This time is no exception.
Oh, and a two stopper IS possible, but I'm not confident it will be the fastest solution yet!

Neil

If I have the time to do this one I'll do a three stopper.
As I tried the combo, the Softs worked well for 7 laps, fast lap is a flat 1'30 after getting familiar with the track in this direction.

Damned hard to win {against the GTR/AI} this race Neil .. so i hope your going  trying ... 3 stops for the old fart downunder , 2 stops is probably possible if you take it easy but your total race time will not put you on the top step of the podium .

Agreed!

Any more, for any more?

I'll cut you guys some slack till the midday tomoz, as I know some kind of miss-named game involving a strangely shaped ball, and very little contact of said ball with the foot, is on now!
;)
Neil

Haha like the description Neil! 👍
Sorry I haven't sent a time in this week, after I returned from the deepest west of Wales, I have felt really badly ill and stuck in bed for quite a while, and haven't therefore had time to have a run. I'm ok now though, and should be back racing again this week! :)

Joe

Sorry for the delay in the results guys!

Here they are, all 3 of them. I was waiting to see if there would be a few late submissions, which didn't turn up.

RESULTS FOR THE RACE!

1st GTXDriver - 43'44.825 - 1'29.326 = 13pts

All the boys are on the podium...
Sad about the low number of competitors. :indiff: It was a great race.
Need I send a picture or the whole replay?
Marty,Neil?

To be honest mate, there's no need really.

All the drivers that are taking part, are completely trustworthy! So I am going to reserve the requirement for proof, to 'unusual' times only from now on.

I hope the participation levels increase a bit, 3 entrants isn't great. And have me wondering about my combo-making skills.:(

Neil

Theres absolutely nil concern to worry about your 'combo-making' skills Neil .. dont dare think of it !

While we are on the subject , Dels latest suggestion for a WES race : Car BMW M3 GTR RACE CAR . Track : Tokyo Route 246 . Format : Fatest total time after 60 minutes . {roughly 45 laps} Other details : up to Neil .

Its not your combos Neil, its your advertising.

Ive only just spotted this in your sig, and come to have a look.

:irked:👍
