I dont know but has anyone noticed why there are only 4 cars on the track compared to the regular six?

it's cause of limitations of hardware.

Yeah, it is something about the rain effects that only allow 4 cars to be created in the race. Just simple hardware limitations like syscrash said.....

On a different but related topic - does anyone know how big the fields will be in TOCA Race Driver - I know the prior TOCA games on the PSX ran fields of 16 - is this the case for the new one?

try racing a fr car above 700hp w/o asm@0 and tcs @ 1. Its hard as balls.

because off all the spray/splashing effects and relection on the cars, ps2 probably couldn't handle any more.. hopefully they'll have found a few more programming techniques to allow gt4 to have more cars.
