Anyone notice how it also says that aero kits and spoilers add "gobs of downforce" in the description of tuned cars. What exactly is a gob?

Absolutely no idea, however given the context I would imagine they mean "Lots"

It means "A lot", no idea where it came from though.

ex: I put a glob of ketchup on my fires.

Well, it makes more sense when you change globs to gobs, because that's actually what it says. "...gobs of downforce..." However, what Bopop said is still accurate; it is an expression meaning "a lot".

Everyone knows you dip fries in a Frosty. No ifs, no buts.

I'm pretty sure "gob" is the official unit used by Polyphony Digital. If you've got 30 gobs of downforce over the rear axle, you've got a lot of gobs.

That looks strangely appealing..

Excuse me a mo' I'm popping out to Wendy's

gob¹ (gɒb)

1. a mass or lump.
2. gobs, Informal. a large quantity: gobs of money.
[1350–1400; Middle English gobbe, variant of gobet gobbet]

It's also a North-England slang term for a mouth.

I use it to mean mouth too. & I heard people using it meaning spitting (spitting saliva not rhymes) aswell.

Up in the delightful Scotland we've turned it an say gub (mouth) but I've never, and I mean never, heard it being substituted for a quantity

Gobs is just a little more than oodles, which is slightly more than scads but less than a slew. :sly:

A gob is somewhere between a mickle and a muckle. As I'm sure you all know, "Many a mickle makes a muckle."
