What New Generation Racing Sim (PS4) Will You Be Playing?

This is the picture I was referring to. Apparently it's a PS4 dev kit in the AC studios. Caused quite a stir at the time but no one is talking about it now:

This is what I was thinking of earlier and wasn't sure if it was official or not.

Can't tell if serious. Yes a Lada and a Ferrari are both cars, but they are worlds away in terms of sophistication. You don't seriously think DriveClub and Gran Turismo are in the same conversation when it comes to physics do you?

No. Physics wise not at all, but by definition, yes. But if we want to go by the petty labels the internet gives these games(their definitions), then none of them are.

GT7 if and only if they have learned from the mistakes of GT5 & 6 and go back to the sandbox mechanism if GT1/2/3.

Project Cars & Assetto Corsa if it does came out for the PS4. ^ That photo was posted by Marco Massarutto and you don't do that unless it's on purpose.

Assetto Corsa Possible PS4 Release(Edit: Maybe in the future)

All this is subject to my DFGT being supported or breaking so I can buy a new wheel.

Yea, I seen that picture also. 👍 With no confirmation officially though, I still say it should be taken off the poll. And to further add to your sim remark, in my opinion, there is no truly proper sim on any console. It is my belief and opinion, a true and proper sim is only going to be on the PC. GT, Forza, etc are simcades at best. I just don't think any console is powerful enough to truly support a full on sim. Again, just my opinion and no way mean to make this come across as fact. :)
You mean until Project Cars comes out right?:D PCars is going to be the sim of sims if they accomplish everything they are setting out to. It's going to have the sim level physics, tuning and the best visuals ever in any sim. And according to the devs it'll have all the same options on console that it has on PC, with the possible exception of altering the framerate which will only be available on PC obviously. And you better be there:mad: ...of course I'll be on the PC side of things...:sly:

There's nothing petty about the labels. Each game has it's fans of course, but in a fully objective sense there are very clear and definite distinctions between those three games and they are each so far apart from each other they belong in separate categories altogether. The labels you put on them are irrelevant, racing sim, driving sim, simcade, arcade etc, they are only a way to quantify the huge differences between them without having to write a book to explain yourself. A fallback postion I see many people take along the lines of, "Well none of them are really sims [therefore my game is as good as yours]" is most often used to justify one's blind dedication to the game/sim of their choice and has no place in a reasonable discussion IMO.

If we don't get caught up in the semantics and actually look at real, substantive differences, the distinctions between the games is clear and there's no need to defend one or the other.

All as I don't really put one game over the others.

The only game that I know nothing about is of course GT7...but from what Evolution have been able to create with Driveclub I am certain PD will surprise a lot of people.

Will try all of them but it will take some game to get me away from the GT series, tried many other series over the years but i always come back to GT.

We'll see. 👍 I hope they are able to be the first, again in my opinion, to be able to accomplish the first true sim on console. I don't play sims on PC anymore, got rid of my awesome PC gaming rig after I quit playing iRacing, so it would be awesome if I could get a full sim on console. I would really like to drive cars with as close to real life feel as possible and also be able to tune them how they get tuned in real life.....you know, unlike GT. :mischievous: And yea, I'll be there for sure. 👍

They either are or aren't. The sublabels are unnecessary.

That's not what I meant by any of this.

Is that what you think I'm doing? Really? I mean seriously. I could even say the same to you.

You're just falling back on semantics to be able to paint everything with the same brush when there are clearly distinctions. Like I said, a Lada is a car, and a Ferrari is a car, no one in their right mind when comparing the two would say, "sub labels are unnessecary, they both fit the definition of car". While technically "correct", it adds nothing to the discussion and it's just a convenient way of closing discussion on the matter or painting those that would like a clearer distinction between their options as somehow fanatical or hair splitting. If you see the games as "sims" and draw little distinction between them that's great for you, some of the rest of us like that we have different options.

I understand the distinctions. I'm going off of the definition, for the third time. I'm not ignorant to any differences, or even guilty of "blind dedication" (nice way to avoid saying fanboy though). I'm not going to use these arbitrary categories people keep making up. There's even doubt of what Project CARS is, but I'm sure you'll say it's a sim. Blind dedication you said right?

All of them if they come out on PS4 but the one I'm most interested in has got to be GT7 given I've played the other three games in some form already.

For me, GT7 and I will also pick up GTA5 and The Last Of Us as I don't have them on PS3 yet. Makes sense to hang on a while as I have a ton of other stuff I've yet to play, and I want a significant price drop :)

If all of those "driving games" were on PS4 I'd buy them all. As things are right now Driveclub is the only one I have.

In a few months I am 99% sure I'll be on Project Cars 99% of the time.

What will turn me on to PS4? GT7 ONLY IF Logitech wheels are supported.

Driveclub is expendable. Project CARS and AC you can get on PC (along with heaps of better sims than GT ever will be).

Your move Sony.

Like they care about their consumers.

The last time someone said "Your move SONY" they implemented mandatory PS+ Subscription to play online mulitplayer.

It was a figure of speech. Fat chance any big company listens to their consumers these days. Only money speaks, so I'm just gonna vote with my wallet ;)

Don't go saying that around the DC forum ;)

Sorry mate, I know how much you love DC  I'm not saying it's a bad game per se, just in the grand scheme of things if the PS4 ends up never supporting Logitech wheels, I'd be quite happy to let go of DC. It's a shame to let go of GT7, but I skipped GT3/4 and came back for 5/6 so you never know the future ;)

No worries

At this point I'm just waiting for anything to release. I get my fix on GTA V [PS4] though, better than nothing.
