What are some POSITIVES about GT5?

Luckily the physics are better than in prologue.

I love the versatility of the game. From racing on dirt in a Camaro to drifting 'round Suzuka in a Kei car, to driving in the rainy night at Le Mans seconds behind your competitors. This game has a LOT of open potential and has pretty much no sacrifice in its versatility on online mode, either.

I love the detail on most of the Premium cars and the vastness of the 1000+ cars in the game. It has pretty much everything car type wise.

I like what PD did with time change on the Nurburgring. Misty mornings and orange sunsets make way for really good transitions. My only complaint is when the sun is setting and there's this ghostly, dark blue shadow coming out of the asphalt or the trees. An annoyance, but not that big of a deal.

Yardang, you don't drive much late at night, do you? I can tell you, that the trees do actually glow a bit, as you say. The sky above is very dark blue, but the shadows of the trees are pure black. (I know this, because I live in Canada, currently, and it's definitely very very similar, at night.)

I like physics on 70% of the cars. I like how the car respond to setup changes. I love Nurburgring, Le Mans, Dynamic day/night changes and Spa.

Special mention for: Ford GT Spec II, Peg. 908 lmp1, Super GT cars, Formula GT, Ferrari F1's, Catheram, Suzuki GSX, F40, 430 Scuderia, McLaren F1, Nissan Silvia RM, Acura RM.

Oh and I should GT5 rally more often.

This game has got quite a bit better with all the updates. At launch my positive list wasnt very long at all. But the game has improved.

GT5 positives

-AI is a huge improvement from previous GT games
-Graphics are incredible in the photo travel even though only premiums can be taken there.
-Tire audio is a huge improvement
-Tire marks
-Physics are also a huge improvement
-16 cars on track can be a lot of fun
-Interior view is really enjoyable in premiums. Its ok in standards after the black outline update.
-Weather effects even though they are only on a couple tracks
-Day/night racing even though its only on a couple tracks.
-Moving body parts like spoilers and vents
-1000 cars even though only 200+ are premiums
-Tire physics are much better
-Track editor
-Really good online racing lobby system.
-A couple cars have full damage.
-Online random events and season races are fun
-Karts
-Offroad rally events.
-Now we can make money online
-Lots of tire smoke

-the AI is still dumb as ****
-No,the view is not OK in standards! In the cockpit you can't see the hood,it's like you're in a floating box
-Tire physics are pure ****!No tire in real life gets consumed that fast
-Track editor?More like track tweaker
-Damage?What is that word doing on GT5's positives?
-Tire smoke, meh, doesn't look that good, the absence of any sort of AA is terrible, and it should be more realistic.
I don't wanna sound like a GT5 hater,lol no I love the game,but these aren't the game's strong points,these need a lot of improvement

Ha, I actually drive a lot at night. I mean it's a graphical glitch or whatever where the setting sun is somehow glowing through the road and any other object that's in the way. Hard to describe but it's a blue, purple-ish blob...

Oh here it goes, found what I'm talking about:

And what really stands out about GT5 is how they incorporate all styles of motorsports into the game.
If you want to race Formula 1, you buy a Formula 1 game.
If you want to race NASCAR, you buy a NASCAR game.
If you want to race WRC, Le mans, Super GT500, you buy one specific game that specifies to that motorsport.
If you want to race all the motorsports, you buy Gran Turismo 5.

This isn't accurate. GT5 doesn't have all these. They have a few cars from each and that's it. GT5 fails to meaningfully depict Formula One at all, with just two token Ferraris that you couldn't even use in A-Spec. NASCAR isn't very well represented, either, with a handful of cars (would only take some texture swaps to get the full field) and only about a quarter of a full Cup field on track, and if you don't have 43 cars it isn't NASCAR. Le Mans? It doesn't even have the Audi R15, let alone the more recent R18. I have both in FM4.

I've maybe quoted this twice out of 1,846 times that I've done that.

A PLUS for GT5 is that I don't have to calibrate the wheel every time I start up the game. It's just plug and play.

So this is at least the third thread that they can't stay out of. Makes me queasy.

1. Premium models (nice cockpits)

2. Time change + weather (weather so much in cockpit, though.)

3. New tracks (Spa + SSRX look great!)

Those three things come to mind when I think to myself: "what is good about GT5?"

Everything else needs work. Lots of it.

Although I don't like many aspects of GT5, but there are still some positive side worth to mention, such as the music of GT5 are still as perfect as previous GT titles.

Another positive GT5 is the physics. Everyone could not doubt that the physics of GT5 has a huge improvements and now it could started to match the title "The real driving simulator".

And the Premium models is another positive thing, as the exterior and interior of the Premium car are so detailed.

One more thing I want to mention is the time and weather change. The night and the raining effect are so reslistic, especially when you using cockpit view.

For me it's the gameplay, specifically the driving experience. Other games are fun for a while but at some point I quit them and don't come back. GT5 is a game I want to play. When you get a corner just right it feels just as good now as it did in 2010. If you mess up a corner you can feel what went wrong and adjust your technique. Other console games rarely give the feeling or reward that Gran Turismo offers. All the other positives mentioned, combined with excellent physics, make for a game I won't be quitting anytime soon.

My biggest positive is the Photo-mode.

My favorite positive is the Nurburgring.
