Sometimes it comes up (on the right of the number of what gear you're in). I'm using AT, and it comes up sometimes. Anyone care to tell me what it means?

Basically it is a suggestion of which gear to use through the corner. Sometimes you can go faster than what it shows, sometimes you cannot. You should get other numbers on the screen too.

what truenodrifter said....i dunno how ppl dont know what it means...dont u read the manual when u first get the game...jeezz.disgrace...j/k.its coo

hey i learned by playing not by reading the manual, im too lazy to do that. lol. hey i see you are part of a team, does your team race in tokyo xtreme racer 3?

What about the + sign

I always thought the + sign ment that you will need to shift up when exiting the turn....Like its a high rev 4th gear or sumtin like that. I never really watch that thing much tho...Doesn't help me on the technical corners.

I read the manual. I just skipped the part about the screen layout. I mean, it's pretty self explanitory. But thanks a lot guys, after Vash posted about cornering, I tried to use it, and it helped alot.

if you would look in the the guide that comes with youre game it clearly states what it means. theres three steps to posting a thread, step1 check the guide book, step2 try search, step3 post

Isn't it an arrow, not a plus sign? I always thought it was an arrow, as if saying 'Go into this gear next ->'
Yeah, if you look at it without it being lit up, it does look like an arrow.

Yes, it tells you which gear is the best one to go trough the corner.

It also tells you when to brake. When it flashes, slam the brakes.

I wouldnt say when it flashes slam the brakes. Sometimes its inaccurate as its basically saying "you should press the brakes about here" and sometimes it could be too early or too late. I personally wish i could turn it off because it has made me a bit of a lazy driver as in most cases people i know and sometimes myslef have become reliant on that little thing. I think you would be a better driver at the game if you took no notice of that thing at all.

It's very inaccurate on almost any corner. Many times you can brake seconda after it begins to flash. Just try TT10 and and you will see that it begins to flash well before you need to brake for the first corner.

That's EXACTLY what happened to me after i played GT3 and GTC a little too much :guilty: :guilty: Now.......allthough i was a pretty good driver before, i can't brake like in the "good old" times 💡 👎

It's like cheating in an exam and, allthough you know the subjects pretty good, you get lazy and addicted to cheating :guilty:

To me that gear indicator doesn't even exist for me i'm concentrating on line let alone what gear i'm suppose to be in and besides i drive standard anyways get more juice in the higher rpms anyway AT shifts to soon for my liking

I only used it addictivly in SSR11, because it wasn't in GT2 ( 5 times 100%) and i only played GT3 for 3-4 days :( The same thing was with R246 in GT:Concept.

Now i know R246 a little but SSR11 is pretty damn hard to learn in a couple of days......Yes, the indicator is really not precise.

I never in any game use AT, not only that it's a little slower, but it's d@mn boring 👎

Please don't laugh i only got to play GT3 a few days ago, got my PS2 only in April this year, expensive games, accessories, go figure it out :guilty: :(
