What are you going to do on this week's Mother Day?

I am totally stumped on this one. I am every birthday, mothers day, Christmas...etc......
Fortunately I only have about another 40 yrs. or so of every Holiday left in my lifetime (if I'm lucky) to go through this torture .. I stink at trying to figure out what to buy.

Not a clue. I don't want to get her just flowers or take her to dinner... I need something more creative. Just don't know what it is yet. I believe my kids have been making stuff for me at school.

I believe (though I'm not sure) that I'm contributing to the purchase of a home for them in the United States. The actual United States.

What? It's Mother's Day? This weekend? Almost forgot. There's something that she wanted but I can't for the life of me remember. There was also this clock though that she said she really liked, I might get her that.

I think I'll get my mum a CD voucher, and she can buy a couple of CDs with it. She likes John Farnham (probably where I got my name from  ) but I couldn't decide what CDs to get her.

Happy mother's day, Mom! We weren't entirely sure what to get you so... here's a house.

Gonna send momz some flowers, gonna send step momz some flowers, of course call them and say HMD :). Possbily booking a cruise for my momz, not sure yet, depends if she is up for it or not.

Well, my mother-in-law is getting an ample gift certificate to her favorite restaurant. Considering she lives 8 states away, that'll have to do.

We're also venturing back to my parents homestead to take my mom and Grandmother out to their favorite restaurant for an afternoon/dinner meal.

Nothing exciting.

Seeing as it's my wife's first mother's day I want to do or get something memorable, but since her birthday was less than two weeks ago everything I can think of seems recycled. But I know she will be getting a "talking frame" to put on her desk at work when she returns so she can hear the baby go "ah gleh" (that's what he says). And a necklace. And my devoted servitude for the day... which, now that I think of it, isn't anything remarkable.

The mother in law is getting whatever my wife gets her.

We're all going to a brunch on the actual day, too.

My mom is making the 1900 mile move from Chicago to Phoenix the day after mother's day so we're just gonna wait until she's here to give her a framed picture of her fist grandson she hasn't met yet and a grandma pin my wife picked out.

I have to say that seeing a mom give birth just a couple months ago, and all that is involved in being a mom, especially in that first few weeks, that mother's day is totally underrated and they deserve a lot more... even the annoying ones.

I thought mothers day was on the 30th of March?
I hope some Brit (or Scot) answers this, because I want to know why it's different in Britain.

I'll be lighting a candle.

Mother's Day is indeed celebrated on a different date in England - it's on the fourth Sunday of Lent.

Thanks for the explanation, vat(underscore)man.

So, Brett, I was right - England just has to be different.
