Come on! Mick Ralphs passed yesterday.

Wrote this as part of the former and took it with him as a founding member of the latter.

Mott the Hoople - Ready For Love

Bad Company - Ready For Love

I think the original is my preference because it's great jangle pop but man, the Bad Company version is just gorgeous vocals, musicality and production.

This is a new one on me despite being 47 years old. A songwriting/performing duo with rotating band members in the mould of Steely Dan who transformed into Mr Mister after failing to chart.

Randomly stumbled upon this release on Spotify today and I‘m absolutely blown away by it. What an amazing atmospheric black metal album, reminds me a lot of Paysage d‘Hiver.

I can‘t wait to listen to the rest of the band‘s discography!

One more soft rock band and I'll call it a night.

Monkey House also made an album in 1999 called True Winter but it's not dollar store Steely Dan-sounding enough for my tastes unlike these.

This song brings back memories, all the way back to early 1991, when it had barely hit the top marks on the UK charts. It had found its way to one of my cassette tapes when I moved to Montreal early February 1991 for an internship. A cassette tape is a data storage device that does not require an internet, but a pencil from time to time (/bbt ref.)

I presented the song to the JD of a popular club back then and he played it multiple times, each night from my tape. And then he moved on. Never to be heard from again. He may still have my tape....

Discogs classifies the first of these two recordings as "country rock", perhaps because the artist lived in Nashville. No. Aside from the iffy first track this album and its follow up with Brendan Barnes are hardcore yacht rock/West Coast AOR from start to finish.

Best song for what narcissists do to their victims. Playing mind games and tricks on them.
