I just learned today (September 28) is the 50th anniversary of the release of Stevie Wonder’s Songs in the Key of Life. To celebrate it, he’s released a four-song EP of songs recorded for the album but never released. All I can say is that in the mid-‘70s, even his cast-offs were better than most everyone else’s best stuff.
Just started listening to this and if he did all the backing vocals on this first track (I can't find any credits that suggest otherwise on discogs) then he's even more talented than I thought. It sounds like a whole bunch of people.
I hope we don't have to wait another fifty years for someone to crack open those damned vaults of his. His castoffs are better than some other artists' career best if this EP is any indication and I'm glad he's still making waves.
