This is a strange song to post considering that it’s the beginning of the summer, but The Summer Ends by American Football is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever listened to.

I’m normally not one for Emo but I make an exception for this band, a lot of their songs have such beautiful and complex instrumentation.

I don’t think any song paints as vivid a picture as this. A small town/villiage in the middle of nowhere, the trees are starting to turn all shades, the weather is getting cooler and you reminisce about the years of high school where you’d be seeing your friends every day and goofing off.

I usually turn this one on when it’s closer to September, but I came back to it a little earlier this year and as always I’m not disappointed.

I was just listening to Nights in White Satin by the Moody Blues, and for the first time in my life, I actually realized that the song isn't actually Knights in White Satin....which, really is a shame. I always thought it was some allegorical quest type song with nuanced subtext about futile chivalry. Like, its almost Don Quixote-like if you only change Nights to Knights.

Nights [Spent] In White Satin.

[Edit: Aaaaand now I've got The Moody Blues stuck in my head.]

While the original is already great this cover got me hooked. And those eyes, ahhh...

I'm not really a prog guy, but Leprous' 2019 album, Pitfalls, really impressed me with its jazzy, melancholic vibes. Honestly, it didn't even sound like your typical prog rock to me.

And now, they released a new single, taken off from their upcoming album.

It sounds even more melancholic jazzy than the previous album. And I'm all in. I seriously am thinking of pre-ordering this album just on the strength of this record alone.
