yeah if i remember right some singer based out of maryland decided to sue them because they tried to use the name suede when she was using it here first. hence why they're the london suede here.
I gather there is an American folk singer that uses/used that stage name. I'd be interested to know the circumstance of the Britpop act's...binym?...given how other disputes have been resolved.
It sounds like they had a trademark dispute with this lounge singer. As far as I can tell she hasn't had to change her name yet but then I doubt she has ever toured in the UK (possibly because lounge to us is a synonym for "primary living area in a place of residence").
