Yeah, I’ve been recently(in the past few months) back into listening to Madlib. Digging this track.


When I listened some Bobby Hutcherson(some cruising home music), I hadn’t realised Madlib sampled it.

Nice! I honestly think sampling is an artform in itself and Madlib is one of the best at it. Speaking of which, have you listened to the projects he did with Freddie Gibbs?

Had to check my playlists. I’ve not listened to any of the MadGibbs albums. I’ll have a listen. I have listened to a few Madvillainy pieces, but they’re also not on my playlist.

I can 100% recommend Piñata and to a bit of a lesser extent, Bandana. Don‘t get me wrong, Bandana is by no means bad but Piñata is almost a flawless album imo and the best thing Gibbs has ever released. „Shame“ alone is one of the best beats I have ever heard!

Currently watching/listening to Queens of the Stone Age: Alive in the Catacombs on my PC. Looking forward to watching it on my big screen in my bar/games room at a more appropriate volume (which is just under clipping ) on Saturday night.

After I posted The Distillers awhile ago, I did some digging around as it's been awhile since the public break-up of Brody Dalle and Josh Homme. There were accusations from both sides about domestic abuse. I, as a fan of The Distillers and not QOTSA, leaned more toward Brody's account, especially with Josh kicking a phone out of a fans hand at a gig...

Due to events that happened after it drifted from the spotlight, Josh now has full custody of their kids and a restraining order against Brody, so... 😂

Back on track though, I haven't started listening to music yet today (it's 8:18AM), but I'm sitting somewhere between these two for general mood for the day.

I try and stay away from all the soap opera BS of music/movie stars home life and just judge them on their talent alone, so I'm still a fan of both bands but yeah, it was a weird situation, and one I had to dig into a bit deeper than I would have liked. You can probably tell by my my profile picture I'm a huge QOTSA fan.

It turned out Josh was not to blame at all and that Brodie's boyfriend at the time forged her signature to file the complaint against Josh. Some full on Jerry Springer stuff .

Sly & the Family Stone - Sing a Simple Song

Sly & The Family Stone is a large black (or black-and-white) hole in my music listening experience. I've never known where to start with him as his music straddles soul and rock. I'm sorry I had to wait until his passing but I'm gonna give the whole Stand! album a go right now. Maybe I find Stax's music a slightly funkier multiracial experience but Stone is a foundation artist.
