How was The Bride ? I've seen reviews that say its amazing and other reviews said it was total rubbish

It seems kind of non-committal to give it a 5/10 but considering that I actually had to read the plot to remind myself what happened, which is exactly what it says on that ratings site, the score is accurate.

What a great actor. He’s been a favorite of the Muppets since 2011 when he had a role in Muppets Most Wanted. His mother passed away while he was filming that movie, and he told a sad but wonderful story about how he couldn’t properly grieve for his mother until Kermit gave his condolences.

“Wow, that's an experience. You know what, when I was doing Muppets Most Wanted, I was in England. And The Muppets, you don't talk to The Muppets if they're laying down. You can't take pictures with them; you can only take a picture if they're up. There's rules for them. And my mom passed away while I was doing Muppets Most Wanted. I had about three, four or five days left in England. I was leaving. I'd just called my agent to say my mom's gone, then Mary, my secretary, called me and said, 'Don't! Stay there. You'll get in the way. We're planning this, we're doing this.' So I stayed, and everybody was coming up and saying 'Hey, Danny…’ and I have a way of kind of shutting down, you know? Not feeling nothing, like 'Yeah, it's okay,' and kind of pushing everybody away and just doing what I had to do. And then that [censored] frog. [Laughs.] Kermit comes up and goes, 'Danny, I'm really sorry about your mom.' And just like that - [whistles] - I broke for the bathroom, like 'Oh no!”

Just saw the Planetronika pilot. (On edibles.) There's such a commitment to the Euro Y2K aesthetic, insofar that I could've easily been fooled into thinking it was an actual show that would've aired in France circa 2004 or so.

I rewatched Jaws@50, a documentary that was locked behind Disney+ but as of now is freely available on YouTube. I can't get enough of Jaws knowledge, as it is my absolute favorite film, in spite of scaring the ghost out of me when I first watched it at a very young age.

Now, probably the best documentary about it is "The Shark is Still Working", and there is also the original "The Making of Jaws", but Jaws@50 have some interesting insights by Spielberg himself, and includes the opinions/praise of many prominent filmmakers (James Cameron, Guillermo del Toro, etc.)

By the power of remakes:

The Dolph cameo was okay but I wanted to see Frank Langella. He promised us last time that he'd be back.

So far this movie has the same plot as the first Thor movie. Our hero Adam has been cast out of Asgard Eternos and is stuck in a podunk town (well, Oklahoma City) until his childhood friend Lady Sif I mean Teela comes to rescue him.

Sir 'Dris appears to be reprising his role as Marshall Stacker Pentecost to play Duncan.

I finally watched Gran Turismo last night...

I enjoyed it, however I agree with most of what I'd read about it here at GTP.

It's a terrific, real-life story - and I think focussing on Jann's career was a smart choice and focus for the film. The cars and racing scenes were pretty well done, though there are some obvious issues that made me chuckle a bit - it always seemed like JM could win by a fraction, or pull off that crucial overtake just by shifting up to higher gear. And the use of real world tracks was both great and a bit amusing for a pedant. It's a tad long, but it was well worth a watch - and Orlando Bloom was nowhere near as annoying as I thought he would be.

It's cool that it puts GT at the heart of the interface between gaming, eSports and real world sporting prowess at the very highest level - I just regret not asking Jann about it when I had the chance in June (well, there wasn't time...), and I would have felt like a bit of an arse having not seen the film at the time. 😅

I completely agree. it was nowhere Oscar worthy but it wasn't rubbish either. It was a fun way to kill two hours

Making the most of my Netflix subscription while I still have it, I watched the two live action Scooby-Doo movies. Okay, I don’t know if this is “making the most” of my subscription, but after finishing the Mystery Incorporated series, I was still in the mood for more Scooby-Doo. Raja Gosnell is an average director at best, but the scripts by James Gunn help. Deleted scenes for both movies show how much better they could have been. In a side note, Gunn was scheduled to direct the third installment, but the disappointing performance of the second movie caused the studio to cancel it. Matthew Lillard gets a lot of credit for his performance as Shaggy, and deservedly so, but I think Linda Cardellini’s performance as Velma is equally worthy. The movies are silly, but silly can be fun.
