Time for some controversy. I love Alien 3. I hold a huge soft spot for it as my parents let me rent the VHS for my birthday in 1993 (came out on VHS in the UK Jan of ‘93)

I was 11 and my friends came round for food and to watch it, little did I know their parents didn’t let them watch any 18 movies so one friend cried and another threw up and another had nightmares for weeks.

By that age I was already knees deep in Manga, Anime, Horror, SciFi etc. so it was the best thing and I was super excited to watch it.

Well colour me super happy to find out that on HBO max USA they have Alien 3 Assembly Cut (added yesterday). So with a bit of VPN action and my HBO Sub I can watch it.

I knew this wasn't going to be the slightest bit enjoyable so I wanted to get it out of the way.

To attempt to cleanse my virgin eyes, I chose literally the furthest thing I had within reach to watch next.

I liked Alien 3 as well. You might be interested in Alien 3 Legacy Cut by Project A34K...

Yep, just got the 50GB version of Legacy Cut. Off to watch that in a minute.

I wish Disney/Fox would do an official 4K release and make the Legacy Cut legitimate along with Theatrical and Assembly cut. Fox already released the Print Work version as part of the Anthology box set.

Sorry... I follow the Dark Horse Comics chronology where Newt and Hicks survive the beginning of the movie or will stick to the original draft. The movie franchise is dead to me after the second one. The TV show was okay though.

I guess I have a soft spot for Alien 3 because I saw the promotion poster in an underground movie theatre on 51st in Manhattan while on a field trip for a college architecture class. I was more happy to finally see the xenomorph in action. How they captured its speed. The whole cast was fine and the music during the final scene stuck with me.

I just came across this on my side videos from Youtube. Have you guys seen this movie before? Hope I don't have bad dreams from this. I will never live near the ocean like that.

I did watch the whole movie some years back, what a harrowing experience for the people that lived through the tsunami of 2004.

Finally got around to watching Weapons despite owning the 4K since it came out. Definitely a movie where you kind of want to throw in the towel half way through but it rewards you for sticking it out. Not sure it warranted all the hype but still a very good piece of horror.

The reboot of Malcolm in the Middle hit Disney+/Hulu on Friday...

I'm sure I was not alone in being highly dubious of rebooting such a classic series, but as the recent reboot of King of the Hill (also on Hulu/Disney+) showed, it can be done and done well.

The first thing to say is - it's brilliant... but like anything that is really good, there's not enough of it... just 4 episodes (which apparently was originally meant to be a standalone movie) and I'd be surprised to see if they go with a second series, so this might be it as far as the reboot goes.

For me, the undoubted highlight of the show is the staggering number of original cast members who make it back into the reboot; and the addition of significant new characters works well. The most notable emission is Erik Per Sullivan who played Dewey, and who quit acting in 2006; but pretty much every other character makes a return. There's even a respectful nod to Kenneth Mars (no relation) who played Otto and passed away in 2011.

It's a rare thing that a new series of anything can literally make me laugh out loud, but this definitely succeeded. There's one scene in particular that was so funny, I had to spin it on because it was hurting my stomach - still, it was well worth it!!

Never liked the original series so I can’t see me watching this. Great to hear fans have been given something good and not butchered.

Starting Season 4 of Race To The Edge. I didn't expect Season 3 to end emotionally...

Utopia (2013-2014), the best UK TV show you've never seen. Very hard to find it now, for "reasons". However, a butchered version is currently on Tubi (you can find the full version "elsewhere" with little to no effort).

WARNING: NSFW!

EDIT: it was cancelled after season2 but don't worry, you've already lived season 3, hehe!

Tonight I tried to watch The Comeback (season and episode 1, HBO Max) and... I quit 11 minutes into it because it's filmed in a "faux" reality show style.
So, I put an old Friends episode, the one where Chandler takes a bath (season 8 episode 12 or 13?) and Joey pines after Rachel, and I was entertained, even if at this point the series was creatively almost exhausted. Yes, I'm an old fart now.

Tomorrow I will watch the season finale of The Pitt. Of all the high profile shows around, this is one really managed to reel me in.

A

I can see why people like this. A simple story told well, with fun characters. Nice.

I coudn't get into House of the Dragon when that debuted, so GoT spin-offs fell off my radar. However i was flicking through channels the other week and fell into watching an episode, towards the end of episode 2, of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, just to see what it's like. Aside from watching it in a weird order (part of) ep2, ep3, ep4, back to ep1 then the whole of ep2 and then ep5 a day later... i decided it was pretty good.

I feels more like a mid-season GoT where its not all royalty and supernatural, its just (fairly) normal people within that world. The final episode wasn't available to watch at the time, so i'm interested to see how it pans out for Dunk and Egg.

I love The Comeback. I was glad to see there was going to be one last season to wrap it up. Lisa had a series on Showtime several years ago called "Web Therapy" that I really loved.

I like Lisa Kudrow, mostly from her time in Friends, and the fact this Comeback series happens over three decades (unintended or brilliant concept?) attracted me to try it, but alas, those 11 minutes turned me off. I hate reality TV and I skipped it during its heyday in the 90's-2000's.

I know, I saw a Youtube ad about it while I was waiting to watch scenes from Ted 2. I wish they'd come out with a Ted 3 soon, but they've been doing a series on it for a while now, they just started Season 2 not long ago. John and Ted are a funny iconic pair. They go through some crazy schemes and pranks.

Teen Titans S01E01 - Final Exam. I was way too old for this show when it came out but (as the Bob Dylan song goes) "I'm younger than that now".
