I just went on, and a question popped into my head; what are everybody's favourite movies? Films of recent times, such as Ironman, AVP2, The Expendables, etc, all seem to be terrible. The film makers have either completely lost their touch, or they are making bad movies on purpose, to stupify the people watching them. Anyhow, I prefer older movies, as there are some great, great old movies that stand out in my mind.
I recently watched Alien and Aliens, and I was astonished by how good they were. I hadn't seen them before, and I was stunned to find two absolutely magnificent action/horror flicks. Simply brilliantly composed.
Another stunning classic is Terminator 2. The end of the movie had me with a lump in my throat. The special effects were also very impressive for the time.
More favourites of mine are Beverley Hills Cop 1 and 2, with Eddie Murphy. When I watched them with my brother, they were some of the most enjoyable comedy movies that I had ever seen. It was a memorable experience.
Finally, I just started watching Tremors again. I remember watching that movie as a kid, and I just took it out again. I'm replaying all the good scenes that I remember in my head and checking them against the movie.
The question is, what are your all-time favourite movies? I don't see how anybody could really call any of the action movies in the last 5 years good, but to each his own, I guess.
