What are your hopes/expectations for FH4?

With FM7 approaching rather fast I figured it would be a good time to start a thread similar to the one for FM7.

Here is what I'm hoping to see in FH4.

    - Larger Map. Australia in FH3 just doesn't feel all that big and you can lap pretty much the whole map in roughly 10 minutes (via Goliath). I would also like to see a larger offroading area with trails and more variation overall (mainly some mountain roads).

    - Route creator. I grew bored of a majority of FH3's tracks rather fast as it seems like most felt the same and the circuit tracks are all on the short side. Being able to create our own tracks would alleviate this problem.

    - Integrated expansion packs. It's annoying having to "travel" each time I want to go to a different map.

    - Customizable festivals. With how much FH3's career mode went on about how it was your festival I found it odd that we weren't given any options as to how it looked. I think having a handful of layouts and the ability to change the design/colors would be a nice touch. If they're really feeling adventurous I would also like to see a PGR style garage where you can walk around a few of your favorite cars.

    - Career mode similar to the expansion packs. I found the career modes much more enjoyable with addition of various challenges needed to truly complete the event. The only change I would make is the ability to change the class after the initial event.

As much as I would like to see FH4 set in Japan, just for an excuse to add a bunch of the more uncommon JDM cars (Kei cars please!), I see the rumors of California more likely. California would offer a greater variety of environments then Japan. Desert to the east (death vally), woodlands and mountains to the north, Coastline to the west, and city to the south (L.A., San Fransisco, or San Diego maybe).

I would love integrated Expansions to drive to the new areas rather then going through a loading screen, But it may not be possible with the Forza engine without having a MASSIVE update to redownload the entire map. And then it could break online lobbies when playing with people that don't own the expansions. Imagine hopping onto a lobby and everyone is in an area of the map you can't access because you don't own the DLC.

Drag tire compound, I don't even do much drag racing in Forza, but I would like to see the Drag Tire compound make it's way to Forza.

Race track maybe? It doesn't have to be a real track, in fact it would be better if the starting festival site was based around a fictional track "built just for The Horizon festival", then have the festival spread out to the surrounding area. It would also be nice to have dedicated rallycross tracks scattered around the map. I love the Snow Park Track on blizzard mountain, so lets get more stuff like that.

Better map design! FH3's map may be larger then FH2, but it doesn't feel much bigger because of how quickly you can get across it. If they want to keep the openness of the map like FH3 then they need to make it about 2-3 times the size so it still feels large enough. FH2's map felt much larger then it was because of the large areas that where blocked off, forsing you to take more time to go around the map to get to the next festival site.

Japan is the logical new "country".
    We had..
    America, Europe, Australia, ??

So it seems like japan or maybe Dubai is next.

If they want to make the game epic introduce actual houses instead of just the garage at the festival. You can unlock different houses around the map as you progress. Id also like to customize the houses, if Only full auto upgrades. Yes sir they already have the ability to make avatars for us. Just make the height fixed on the drone and change the asset to a character.

It would be really cool if we could ride as passengers, which opens up true rally races where only the passenger can see the map(a guy can dream right).

Imagine the car meets.. people trying out each others cars. Or having house parties..

I know this has little to do with racing, but it's the natural evolution of the series.

It could learn a bit with TDU.

    - Options to drive cars with open top and maybe windows
    - Houses/garages that can be customizable
    - A REALLY big map. FH2 feels waaaaaaaay better than FH3, I've been playing it more tbh.

    My hopes/expectations:
    • Horizon Blueprint allowing custom route creation
    • Ability to customize character appearance
    • Tighter and more varied roads i.e more twisting back routes rather than flat out open sprints.
    • South Africa as a location; mainly just to piss off those who want Japan.

Uh, since I wasn't on FH3 very long, and never played FH2, I will say this about the expansions bit.

-They could go the route of releasing a map expansion for free, so everyone gets it, but cars and other things will be behind a paywall.
--Kinda like how MCLA and the South Central update.

-They could go to Japan, which would be cool.

-Why not add bikes to the scene?

-Able to walk around your vehicle
-To add to that, being able to purchase homes/garages (Or would that be too much like TDU/GTA?)

-What about another TDU aspect -- a casino

--I expect to see a wider and more diverse map.
---I mean a bigger city, countryside, a forest, a beach, a shipyard, maybe (snow-capped) mountains also. Way more terrain. A condensed map of The Crew. Expand of FH3.

When FH3 was just out I was so pumped with the game, the rain forest, the desert, Surfer's Paradise, the pretty skies, the weather, the body kits, the blueprints, it all looked so friggin amazing! Fast forward to today I have to say I didn't play FH3 that much, after playing it avidly for 2 months I got bored with it, then add another 2 weeks after Blizzard Mountain and another week after Hot Wheels and that is it. I kept logging in to do the Forzathons (but only those that rewarded a new car) and that was it.

I even loved the Australia setting a lot, so what is wrong with FH3? IMO the land overall is too flat and you can most of the time take huge shortcuts to everywhere. Other than the 4 nice themes (rain forest, valley, desert, city) there really is not that much variation in the map. Coincidentally I went back to FH2 yesterday and apparently my car got saved on Storm Island. I drove around there in freeroam a bit and the roads are a lot more hilly, much more fun to drive on than on the FH3 map. I went back to the FH2 main land and I absolutely love some of the cities there. Yes Nice isn't as sexy as Surfer's Paradise but there are a lot more cities and a city like Castelletto looks absolutely amazing!

Also that Warren and Kira.... they are just not such great personalities IMO. And this all adds up to the overall atmosphere of the festival. FH1 was awesome, I only started playing that when it was free on XBox One about a year ago but damn, kudos for Playground to start from nothing going to that. FH2 was a big step up from FH1 and in general FH3 is also a big step up from FH2 again. But still... something in FH3 just feels a bit off, is it the massive shortcuts you can take through the desert and the valley to reach your destination, or that (VERY annoying) Lamborghini V12 sound you hear on so many HE cars, maybe the land itself doesn't have enough variation (why were there never any races on/around the pink lakes?)... Something with car handling feels a bit off in FH3 as well, cars seem to feel more floaty in FH3 than in FH2, in FH2 it all feels a bit more realistic or spot on.

Also FH2 had the Storm Island and Porsche expansions. Apart from the double Fast and Furious car packs there is nothing fake about it, it all feels real. And I even like those F&F cars there. In FH3 you have a Halo warthog, a Final Fantasy Regalia and an entire Hot Wheels expansion, in the end this results in the game feeling more fake and it just doesn't grab and immerse you like FH2 did IMO.

Still, in so many ways FH3 is a step up from FH2 though, still it doesn't seem to completely replace FH2 for me.

Here is my wishlist for FH4 :
    * more cities than just 2 (FH2 had 5 cities, FH3 only had 2)
    * more elevations (including hairpin roads up a mountain etc)
    * driving on the right side of the road again
    * no more fantasy themes please! Hot Wheels was fun for 1 week and that was it, I'd much rather had a Tasmania or New Zealand expansion there instead
    * Keep the single fantasy cars like Fallout Rocket, Halo Warthog and FF XV Regalia out please.
    * ALL Forza car brands should be included. Start those talks with Toyota right now!
    * IMO leave the race cars out as well (motorsports all-stars), it's just a bit silly and again something that takes away from the immersion that FH2 created and FH3 failed to redo.

As far as Blizzard mountain goes, it was really fun initially but after a while this feels a bit gimmicky as well and also doesn't have much replay value. Plus it feels a bit like a niche within the game, it's cool for the offroad vehicles but it leaves so many car classes out (like JDM, supercars, hypercars all really have little business other there) Together with the Hot Wheels theme park there actually has never been a normal track expansion like Storm Island was for FH2. Again.... replace Hot Wheels with Tasmania (or any hilly island like Storm Island) and I think the expansions for FH3 would have been ace.

    1. Track days.
FH3 would have been a perfect fit to have track days at Bathurst.

So whatever country it's in, pick a real world track to have track days at.
Preferably implemented as a side feature not critical to the game.

I could settle for a fictional track, as long as it's a good one.

    2. Paintable liveries.
I've seen so many good liveries, and most seem to be a color combination I'm not after.

I'm very specific about the color of my cars, and as much as I might like a livery, if the colors aren't perfect for me I can't use it.

At least allowing tuners and designers to select a "modifiable" option or something that I can change the colors.

Agree. While the Australia map is great and all there was something about it that made it far less fun to just freeroam on and I think it has a lot to do with it being too flat and open. It became boring to drive on, whereas in FH2 I could drive around for hours. I hope FH4 goes back to an area with mountains and twisty turns.

Only thing I could hope for is same amount of cars than Motorsports and a few options like disabling drivatars in traffic, making the game less obnoxious with pre-race menu or race-finish sound effects (too loud) and if there are annoying people that talk to you, having the ability to turn them off completely, unless it's a barnfind guy. Probably more garages away from festivals too and the choice of not being "the boss."

    More tarmac-only races.
I like off road stuff too, but there's just way too much of it for me.

That'd be... Quite impossible to implement. At best painters could provide you with select color combinations - which is something they can do already.

    -

Can we haz proper offroad next time around? Even if it is a limited portion of the map, and it's not a painstalkingly realistic experience, I'd like the terrain to present a challenge for once. As it is now all those Land Rovers and Land Cruisers and Wranglers and Trailcats are quite wasted...

I just got FH2, I might actually like that handling model more, I will have to play more. I'm pretty amazed, given that it was also a 360 title.

I think I like the extra cities in 2, it really looks intimidating, that map. A zoom out would be super like FH3 though. (Preferably to see the whole thing)

Just allow for painting of each layer?
It's possible a program could detect painting areas, for example a stripe around the bottom, stripes on hood, etc.

I'd really like to be able to make tracks, with blueprints, then you're really doing whatever you want.
I kinda responded backwards, but editing that would be awful at this point.

Certainly a bigger map would be good. i suppose FH3 may be smaller than FH2, but I am not convinced, as FH2 was narrower but longer. The option to raise/lower roof/windows like TDU, whilst driving would be nice and to retain that for the races. Some walking ability, maybe just Photo Mode would be good. Turning off traffic, I agree, would be nice as it is difficult to do a high speed cruise, though Bucket Lists can help as far as top speed is concerned. I did hit over 270 mph, which I think is about as fast as you can go.

Whether it's set in Japan or the US I would love to see more local flavor cars(like the Utes in FH3). Obscure muscle in the US, or some off the wall JDM if it's Japan.

After more playing FH2, I think the top of my wishlist is for FH4 to be much more like FH3, than FH2.

I like that cars aren't mostly twitchy as hell in 2, and I like that understeer is actually possible also.(in 2)

Other than the crazy amount of oversteer in almost every single car in FH3, I think it improved in almost every possible way.

A notable mention is that FH2 seems to be offering 3 types of championship, I like this because making a blueprint doesn't feel "real" the same as picking from options.
Maybe doing/having both would be perfect.

And of course add track days at a local racetrack. :)

I think they'll probably go for somewhere that has little free-roam representation in video games again, and as a result, South Korea is my bet. A possible expansion that has something to do with Jeju Island might be viable too.

Most of what I want has already been touched on, so one thing that I think should be desperately done is an overhauling of the livery search system back to it's FM4/FH1 roots. Seriously, there is no reason why there shouldn't be an option to search liveries by top ranked or most downloaded, weeding out most of the **** you see and getting close to what you want. Should also be easier to find vinyl groups as well then being tucked away in a billion menus. If they still haven't fixed this by FM7, which also has the same problem, then it will probably never be fixed.

In terms of cars, what can T10/PG do that hasn't been done in terms of road cars? They've substantially added to the Australian car count, adding vehicles that many North American and European players have never seen, a sort of rich tapestry of the Aussie auto industry. I think they'll probably start whittling down some of the more obscure JDM choices in FM7 (Pulsar GTi-R hype soon, I can feel it) and by the time FH4 comes around, they'll have given GT2 and 4 a run for their money in this category, no matter what location they choose. So aside from that, there's only a few loose vehicles I can think of off the top of my head that need to be added, and either haven't (AMC AMX) or haven't made the jump to the next generation (96 Impala SS, Shelby Omni GLHS, though the second one probably is a shoe in for FH4 considering it's in FM7)

I do think some people in this thread have it right that FH4 should probably take more of a step towards becoming what it initially turfed out: Test Drive Unlimited. Buyable houses, more of an emphasis on cruising and social gameplay, avatar customization. I also think that maybe PG should look at GTA Online as well to see how to impliment it (Hopefully better, and not without the reliance on micro-transactions, though PG and T10 are pretty good in that regard) By this point, the idea of a festival is pretty run to the ground, not much they can build around that idea. (Though TBH, they haven't cared or done anything for festival 'atmosphere' since the first game, and even then, it is more or less of your own imagination as in my case)

With the announcement of Spotify now coming to Xbox, I hope FH4 has Spotify integration right out of the box, much like FH3 did with Groove.

Thing i would like to see in Forza Horizon 4:

    1. All the road cars from FM7, maybe include some race cars but I'm not sure on that one. There's plenty of cars from FM6 that weren't included in FH3 for no reason.

    2. Bigger map and more unique locations. Include several towns and cities along with various country places. Something that I can't get bored of within 20 minutes.

    3. Speaking of maps, i would like places that "weren't explored enough" in the racing video games world. Something that a lot of casual* people aren't aware of the car culture over there. Something like Japan, Hong Kong...etc. i dunno but something in the Asian/African/South American/middle easterm countries.

    Example (NSFW):
    Japan: Low Riders Bro ;)

Dubai: anything that isn't a gold chromed lambo...

    * as in casual western car enthusiasts.

    4. More customizations for everything: body parts, interior mods, your characters and your home.

    From GTA V:
    teCnhqg.jpg

    5. Livery system that allows you to import any image via mobile applications or Via inserting your USB with images in it. I hate being forced to recreate it by hand as I suck at it and wish if I could use photoshop images instead.

    6. More unqiue types of radios stations and also bring back Radio XS and several others from FH2.

    7. I would like to see TGT cast members to be included since we already did that with older FM4-6 and Top Gear. Also include well known car youtubers enthusiasts...Mighty car mods and regular car anyone? :please

    8. Drift events like you would see in various drift motorsports rather than some random route to drift while free roaming. Also being able to make your own races and race routes like in Midnight club 3 and GTA Online.

    9. Bikes. 'Nuff said.

    10. Don't focus too much on the freaking modern hypercars. We want more interesting cars, not 10 year old fantasies.

I'd like to see better PI rating and Class system. FM6 has 3 classes between A and X while FH3 only has 2. Horizon needs another class at the high end because I feel there is far to large a difference in performance between a S1-900 and S2-998. would also like E-class to make it's way to Horizon as well to better separate the low end cars. To be honest I would like more Class distinction in Motorsport as well to split up Touring cars and GT3 cars as well as bringing back F-Class.

Don't need 3 A classes. But something Between S2 and X on Horizon along with E-F class on the low end. For motorsport I would like something like F, E, D, C, B, A, S, R, P2, P1, X. With the PI balanced to put Modern GT racecars closer to the top of R class with P2, P1 to act like the LMP2 and LMP1 classes in Endurance racing.

I'd like to see a UK-based game incorporating the things one would expect from this place. The countrysides, rural and coastal villages, highlands and a couple of cities inspired by some of the places up north. Forza also has good reason to dig a bit deeper into the UK automotive history and mimic some of those highly regarded driving roads. Interesting weather scenarios too.

I'm tired of the Horizon festival though. Too many freaks and too little genuine car culture, so bring on something new and innovative.
