What car are you saving up for?

What car am I saving up for, hmmm, I wouldn't really know ;).

LeadSled, you spelt unnecesarily nearly correctly you need one more s (unnecessarily) :).

I was saving up for a Mustang. It was a '90 notchback with decent mileage for what could have been my first car. Unfortunately, I think it was sold (low asking prices aren't gonna last very long).
But all I could afford right now was the car, anyway, and I would need to save up a lot for insurance and any immediate repairs.

Lately, though, I've been going out with my parents on errands and we'd go car/truck hunting. I have three preferences: a Panther, F-body, or pickup. But I'm not too biased. I'll take almost anything I can afford at the moment. Those are just what I want...

I'm working right now to buy my first car and if I have enough money before it's sold I'm going to buy This
What are you saving up for?

I now want one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2000...oryZ6009QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I'd like to have one that looks like the one in The Transporter but with dual exhaust and newer M5 rims.

A 510 would be cool as hell, I wouldn't mind one of them. I have a secert fansination with them for whatever reason.

Dude, the Datsun 510 Bluebird is sexy. Take a look at this restore job...my jaws dropped when I saw this, and it went for cheap on ebay. If I had the cash I would of bought it. This is one of the best vintage Japanese cars.

I'm savin for a Trans Am ( one on left ) or Z-28 ( one on right ) I prefer the Trans Am though.

vintage or not, those wheels have to go.
id do a 5 lug swap and put in some z32 wheels

In person, the wheels look better. Minilites would suit the car best, though.

I'm savin' for either a 510, or as of today a BMW 3 series, either 1st gen or 2nd gen.

How much are decent 510's? I wouldn't mind owning one of those as a play around car.

Well I would more then likey try and drop a small block into the car and see what I could do with that. Mmmmm....350 510, think about the power to weight ratio. But I might consider buying one when I get settled into my house and get married and what not.

Mclaren F1 :D

(well, right now I have a model of one, it's a start!)

At least be realilistic GTRacer.

Oh and I don't even know what'd I'd save up for but i'd save money anyway then choose.

Fine, a Mini.

Not those BMW ones though...

But a F1 is part of my master plan.

I might just be gullible to rumours but don't you need a racing license or something along those lines to buy one?

Mclaren F1? No, it's treated like any other car, except it's in like, insurance group 40.

No I'm pretty sure when it was made back where you bought it in the dealer you couldn't just go in there and buy it. And I don't know what insurance groups are.

Insurance groups are what we use in the UK to classify how much a car costs to insure, basically. We only go up to group 20, though.

As for F1's you'd have to go to their factory in Woking to custom order one.

I shall refer you to Dime Quarterly, what seems to be the holy grail of 510 sites. They've got a classifieds section, too. Look there.
Dime Quarterly

A decent, rust free (or close to it), slightly modified one seems to go for 3500-6000. All depends on what's been done to them.
SR20 's fit very nicely into them, as to Z-car 5 speeds (from a 260 or 280).

Actually, it serves as a repair facility now.

"No I'm pretty sure when it was made back where you bought it in the dealer you couldn't just go in there and buy it."

McLarenCarsLimited at first, chose who got to buy their cars. However, after realizing they would lose money either way, any with a $1,000,000 check was free to buy.
There's a tiny McLaren building still in Monaco that sold 16 of the F1s. There's still a F1 in its windows, however, the building is INCREDIBLY small. Next time I head out to Monte Carlo, I'll go up in the hills abit and look for it. I saw a pic on the net a few months ago. I'll try and find it buy Google's "McLaren" "Monaco" and "F1" all lead to the same thing.

BTW, if you want to see an Auto Show, this is the thing to go to.

Thanks for the link. I know I wasn't the one interested in the 510s, but that's a nice site.

BMW e30.

Preferably coupe, but I'd go either way.

Saving up for an E30? Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but you must be fairly young, then... :)

I always thought you were one of the older members...

This thread is turning into a what car do you want thread more then what are you saving up for thread.

I eventually want to sell the Legacy and get me one of these:

dark_blue_torana_lx_2.jpg

Holden LX Torana...and then save up again for a later model EFI 308 engine...good mix of power and reliability i reckon...

Awesome, Toranas are the ****. You've gotta be a westie right? :p

Hmmm. I'm just saving my money at the moment, I've been looking at EF shape Civic hatches but I really want a rwd car so if I can find one in decent condition I'd like a AE85/86. Also E30 BMW 320i's are being looked at cause they're a nice size, fairly reliable (to a point), rwd and hell, it's a BMW so it'll surely handle well.

However, the cost to insure and repair a BMW will take a toll on my wallet so Japanese it'll probably end up having to be.

Oh, and to agree with everyone else in this thread, 510s are wicked 👍 .

P510's are nice but there are other Datsuns I would prefer before the 510.

What would saving up for an e30 318 or 325 make me seem younger?

I'm 17, and saving up for a 3-grand car, with extra maintenance, doesn't seem out there. I'm not saying I'm saving up for a Lotus here, now am I.

I guess I'm a bit attracted to 80's Euro cars. I had a thing for Saab 900s and Volvo 240 wagons a while ago as well.
