My dad thought me how to drive in a Firebird. Beautiful car. It steered so precisely. Like a go cart. And the sound was amazing too. Will never forget those days. What car/cars did you guys learn to drive in?

At the age of 6 in a similar car like this:

It was my grandparents first car and it was just sitting in their barn doing nothing.

^ Neat little thing.

As for myself - The one I'm driving right now, my '85 Pontiac. :)

I learned how to drive in various small/midsize cars; Chevrolet Cavalier, Chrysler PT Cruiser, and one driving lesson in a Ford Taurus. On receiving my license, I drove a K5 Chevrolet Blazer (large V8-powered SUV) for the first six months. Big transition.

It was a 1995 Saturn SL2, manual transmission. Quite a nice little car, actually.

A Ford Ka from the Drving School :) Used to hate the car because of how it looked, but thanks to it I know how to drive now, handling was very precise and the engine was very responsive at all times 👍

I learnt to drive in this exact car:

Passed 2 years and 2 months ago, really nice car to drive. Although I did lock my instructor out of it :dopey: He still passed me though

In an Astra like this way back in early 2009. Wasn't too bad, had a nice gearbox with a short-throw.

The first car I have driven was our '93 Renault 19 when I was 12 or 13, then a bit of '96 Rover 416 (damn loved that car). Passed the drivers ed in an mk5 Golf diesel. All were manual.

My instructors car was a Hyundai Getz :yuck:, and I also drove to and from school in a (my current) Ford Ka to practise.

Getz had a really tricky clutch, but thanks to that driving the Ford is a piece of cake. :D

My learner's car was my brilliant ol' Skyline, affectionately referred to as The Cereal Box:

1988 R31 GXE. It wasn't quick of course but it was extremely easy to live with. Also had pretty much the most comfortable front seats I've ever sat in.

Driving lesson cars were a 2005 Toyota Corolla Ascent (crap), 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer ES (ehhh), 2009 Mazda2 Neo (pretty good actually) and then I passed my VOR test in a 2006 Kia Cerato.

1998 white manual Kia Pride with dual controls and a mean instructor.

Essentially a tin box with a steering wheel. Easy to drive though.

Have to say, I really enjoyed driving it; it was very responsive, and incredibly good at humouring completely novice drivers. :)

Learnt in my instructor's late-90s Ford Fiesta. I then went out and bought... a late 90s Ford Fiesta. Largely very similar, with the key difference that my own car had no power steering. Got used to it fairly quickly, but was a bit of a shock after the easy power-assisted learning car...

My grandfather let me drive this a few times, a beige 1985 Ford Escort Wagon.

Later took my test with this, and kept it in exchange for a few bucks...

Learned how to drive stick in my dad's 1990 Integra 2-door (imagine one in silver and kept stock/clean, since Google can't find one).

2001 Toyota corolla. Learnt stick on a E93 M3, now learning rev matching on an e39 m5. Before all that I worked the wheel in my parents' lap in their '91 sentra

Learnt auto in an 03 corolla, then learnt manual in another corolla and an impreza

In a 1987 Chevy Suburban. In traffic. On ice. I had a very mean sister.

The very first time I drove a car was my parent's one of these on a farm

I did all of my on road learner driving in one of these

Yep, thats a late 70's (dont remember the exact year of ours) Chrysler Sigma. Before they were Mitsubishi badged.

My dad's '86 5-speed AW11, which was passed down to me in 2006. It now has a 4AGZE but currently isn't in running condition.

My driving instructor had a 5th Generation Mazda 323, and I also drove my dad's Mk 2 626. I started learning to drive in '87.

I got lucky and learnt to drive on a 2007 Ford Mustang. It was only the V6 model (actually, looking back, that's probably a good thing), but my instructor gave me a choice between either the Mustang or a Corolla. He grinned when I said Mustang - it was good times.

I think I misunderstood the thread.

I learned to drive with a Mercedes Bar 8 220D when I wa 12 y.o.

The Daf33 was a nice experience but I just drove that car a few times when I was 6 y.o.. And I really was the only one inside the car, driving it alone without any help. Not that it was that difficult because it was a vario matic (no need to shift gears).

I drove a light brown Nissan-Datsun Stanza 1.8l on a field in woods (age 14-15) before going through my driving school over three years ago in a red Nissan Note 1.4l, also 1.5dCi in economy test.
