Soon? Have you seen the running costs of a Veyron? They already are horrendously expensive but that matters little to the people who can afford to buy them.

This article is a bit of a riot. Acting like Bugatti is worried about the crook that is John Hennessey.
Let's completely forget the fact that the Veyron is obviously going to be the more luxurious car & probably easier to drive by a mile.

Or the fact that the whole concept behind the Venom is not new (they did it with the SSC). Several cars at the Texas Mile follow the same train of thought Hennessey did & could drag a Veyron just as quick as the Venom GT (those same cars could probably drag the Venom silly).

The only thing Hennessey has is that he got a Lotus body stretched & threw a LS9 under it to make it a production car. Other than that, Heffner or UR could send a Veyron "running scared" too.

I doubt Bugatti are going to care one bit about Henessy. And VW will care even less.
The Veyron driver probably couldn't be bothered to actually race that 1.5 million vehicle up the mountain road. Not like Bugatti would need to be worried about their reputation for not going toe to toe with a car like the Venom GT.

Why do people say Hennesey is corrupt? just asking I am curious, but I think this article was quite poor they didnt really back down, just let them go first. Making a mountain out of a molehill by the sounds of it.

The article says the car is good in the corners, but I'll be convinced when I see it out-corner a veyron. One of the many things that makes the veyron a legendary car is the fact that it's not a one-trick pony. So far this car has established that it does one trick very well, that puts it in a sizeable but elite group. Next it has to establish that it does other things extremely well also - I suspect that this is where the honeymoon ends.

From what I know, Hennesy took payments for the Venom GT (preorder or whatever, I'm not familiar with the details) and didn't really deliver the car... Something along those lines, but someone else might be more knowledgable about that than I am :D

More than just that, there are several stories of people shipping their cars and money to him only to wind up with basically nothing in return.

Here is a couple stories about it.

I'm wondering why Jay Leno keeps having him back in his garage and calling him a good friend if all that is true?

Jay Leno is a celebrity...it'd be damn good marketing for Hennessey to get on Leno's show with him saying how good a person he is and how good his wares are.

I think of Leno as someone with integrity and honor, maybe that's my mistake? If he really isn't as close with Hennessy and it is just publicity, why would he do it? He gains nothing from it.

It'd be Hennessey acting good with Leno and not the other way round, you think Hennessey would pull his antics with Leno? Can you imagine him scamming Leno then going on his show? Would only result in Leno beating his head in!

My dad used to sell auto parts and supplies to John Hennessey back when his shop was in town. He wrote bad checks left and right, and would never pay up.

Luckily Hennessey is old news now that companies like Underground, Heffner, and Titan are leading the way. Underground's Lamborghinis take dumps on that Hennessy Viper that outran a Veyron.

The Venom is actually the one car he has been delivering on. But of course, that's no surprise. A law suit for a $600,000+ car is a lot riskier for business than $5-$25,000 in work on a Viper.

All this bad business stems way back over the years. John has even been run off ViperAlley a few times & those guys aren't exactly polite with words, either.

That's probably more true than you think. The Venom - that one example.

He tends to deliver one example of his cars for magazines to fawn over to get orders he'll (allegedly) never intend to fulfil.

The Atom V8 already absolutely caned the Veyron SS around the TG Test Track anyway. I don't doubt it'd do the same up Goodwood, and to the stretchedexige too.

Did noone point out to the writer of the original article that the Supercar Run at Goodwood is not only not timed, but the drivers are also discouraged from attempting full-bore climbs, and as such catching the SS halfway up the hill would prove nothing other than the Hennesey driver is a pillock?

It's Jalopnik. You may as well expect honourable conduct from a NOTW journo.

This is a hideous bloated "Lotus" with an American engine. It might as well be a kit car. It is just another car shell stuffed with an engine from another manufacturer. The Veyron may get hate but the damn thing is a luxurious SOB and has an element of high class. That Venom GT is just a boy racer wet dream and doesn't even deserve to get this press. Let me stick a BOSS 302 engine in a new Focus and go hunting down some Ferraris.

Oh, and I'm most certainly sure that Veyron didn't pull over because it was "scared" of anything. We do not know what the driver of that car was thinking so to speculate is retarded.

Please...

Thats a good point lol. Supposedly, he already has 4 already built, so I wonder if 2-3 of those are press cars.

Backed down from a fight? These are cars, not UFC fighters.

Besides, these are totally different cars. One is an engineering project to get the best performance out of a car that works on the road every day, the other is a stripped out racer built by a man with the work ethic, financial responsibility, and maturity of a 12 year old.
