What car made the Bugatti Veyron SS back down from a fight?

Backed down from a fight? These are cars, not UFC fighters.

Besides, these are totally different cars. One is an engineering project to get the best performance out of a car that works on the road every day, the other is a stripped out racer built by a man with the work ethic, financial responsibility, and maturity of a 12 year old.

12 year old? That's giving him too much credit!

Cheers to that.

What a jerk... :odd:

Regarding the Venom GT, let's just say that after twenty years no one is going to forget about the fastest, hypercar/GT/dream machine ever built whereas the Venom will just fall into the "Another attempt to be faster than the Veyron at any cost". Will it be faster? Will the tyres last that? Is it safe? Nobody knows...perhaps the word "failed" can be inserted on the last sentence...perhaps not.

The fact that it doesn't even have it's own styling just makes it more meh. The performance is quite impressive though.

Oh, and the fact that it beats the Veyron from standstill to 200mph is as relevant as saying that a space shuttle has beaten the Veyron on the run to 252mph. Irrelevant as the machinery and the proposals are unique to each.

I think I have to believe Caswell's opinion about the Venom GT actually being able to handle. He doesn't really have a reason to lie, he's not a journalist - he's just been writing a few articles (mainly from Goodwood things) for Jalopnik.

The way its written is probably over the top, but its good journalism. You'd probably run away bragging like that if it happened to you in your low budget supercar.

Eric.

Granted it doesnt cost what a Veyron does but I dont think its exactly low budget either.

I believe Eric was referring to the research and development costs, the Veyron has costed VAG a leg (engine, gearbox, cooling system, at cetera), compared to that we can safely say the Venom is a budget supercar (LS9, no fancy graziano Ricardo gearbox, and so on).

It costs upwards of $600,000. That's a far cry from low budget; it's in the realm of Zondas & Koenigseggs....

And they lost money on every VEYRON they sold.

This article is a bit of a riot. Acting like Bugatti is worried about the crook that is John Hennessey.
Let's completely forget the fact that the Veyron is obviously going to be the more luxurious car & probably easier to drive by a mile.

Or the fact that the whole concept behind the Venom is not new (they did it with the SSC). Several cars at the Texas Mile follow the same train of thought Hennessey did & could drag a Veyron just as quick as the Venom GT (those same cars could probably drag the Venom silly).

The only thing Hennessey has is that he got a Lotus body stretched & threw a LS9 under it to make it a production car. Other than that, Heffner or UR could send a Veyron "running scared" too.

I would rather have Malaria than that Hennessey piece of ****.

Also, I don't really think Caswell is a very credible writer, nor journalist. I see him as a pretty ordinary guy caught up in his own hype..

edit: Just finished reading the article. I wonder how much Hennescrew paid Caswell to write that? I wonder if Caswell has ever driven the car? I wonder if Caswell has ever driven a Veyron? The article summarizes Jalopnik pretty well.

so whatever
gots to go

fwiw.

Who cares whether he thinks the Venom is good or not? First of, appearently, nobody could buy one without risking to get screwed ouut of their money. Second, a Radical SR8 or an Arial Atom 500 wwould make the Venom back down from a race up the hill, too... :sly:

Frankly what's wrong with the regular Lotus Exige. It doesn't need 1200 horse power. the Car is brilliant as is. no need for changes.
