What car would you own with money beng no object

Out of curiosity, to the people wanting old 80s cars or modern econoboxes, what's stopping you from working a few extra hours and cruising the classified ads in the newspaper? These aren't really traditional "money is no object" cars

I'm a simple man. I want a roof over my head, food in my belly, and 3 pedals on the floor. Why complicate things?

Given the vast expanse of wide open highways and unlimited speed limits on the west coast, I would often utilize all that power.

Wait, no, thats not right. Okay, so I'll take it to the track every weekend. But if I'm going to the track every weekend I want something more simple, like an Elise. But to be honest I don't really want an Elise. It's too flashy. Heck, I gave up a 350Z due in part to it's looks. I like normal cars. I like cars you don't expect to be interesting. I like cars that do more than one thing.

Now, if this were "money being no object, name all the cars you would have in your garage hangar," then an Elise Exige would possibly be a part of it. But I'm unsure on the Veyron. It's fast. Okay. Tell me something else appealing. If I had the money right now, I would go buy a 911 Turbo and a V12 Vantage (or DBS, whichever I could actually get my mitts on.) Other than those two, I can't think of an exotic that makes me feel anything when I see them.

Remember this: I lusted after a Ford Focus for 3 years until I finally saw the one I knew was for me and I drove 200 miles for it. This is the kind of person I am. A Focus.

Now, excuse me while I go make up a list of all the family sedans and wagons that will be in this hangar.

Will get you places faster than a Veyron in the real world. Why? it's faster than one. It cruises...cruises! at 272 mi/h! Had they given James one of these instead of a Cessna 172 in the Top Gear race, Jeremy would've been screwed.

That, and there's no speed limit in the air.

Oh, did I mention, the Mooney costs less? Granted, you have to learn how to fly, but you also have to learn to drive, so...

997 GT3RS, in cobalt blue, with a Manthay 4l engine upgrade, BBS LM's and the graphics deleted.

There are plenty more expensive cars, but the GT3RS is just so usable... it will do the daily driver thing and will double up as a perfect track day car... unlike most of the super expensive stuff, which won't do either half as well. Plus you can't park the really expensive stuff like Zonda's and Veyron's anywhere and they just attract too much attention.

If I could only own one car it would be a E63 AMG Estate.

I honestly can't pick just one, but among the hundreds I'd have in my collection if I had infinite money would be a Lamborghini Diablo SE30 in purple, a Porsche 993 GT2, a Porsche 964 Carrera, Ferrari 360 Modena and a TVR Tuscan Speed Six, but like I say, that's just the start.

So the Veyron is the BEST car in the world? At...everything? There are cars that accelerate faster and handle better, for less even! If I am getting the Veyron just because its fast, why not get an Atom and get to highway speeds quicker than a Veyron? Tell me why I shouldn't get an Atom instead?

To me, the Veyron is the same as a family of three owning a 3000sq ft home. I'm sure it's quite nice to have all that space. But it's a waste. And I don't want it. Give me a place to get drunk, a place to cook, and a place to sleep.

And why waste all that horsepower getting to 80 and then getting pulled over?

My Volvo is worlds faster than my Focus. I would rather drive the Focus.

Because the cars I like are cheap I'll post three of them

'86 Toyota AE86 Tuerno with optional LSD and Disk Brakes all the way around, and a 5 valve Supercharged 4A-GZE engine. Reason: Impossible to find in the states, great 80's car.

'92 MR2 Turbo with Viscous limited slip differential, and the TRD2000GT wide body kit (look it up) Reason: Impossible to find in the States, have wanted one since I first saw one.

And yes, I'm a Toyota junkie.

The AE86 is really hard to find, I have been looking for a couple months and can't find one, let alone on that has all the options. The SW20 Turbo is extremely rare, the 3S-GTE is nigh impossible to get your hands on and Toyota only made 35 wide body kits. As for the Celica, none of RC's were shipped to the states, all of them went to Europe, Japan or Australia.

AE86 Rollas in both hatch and notchback form are all over the place.

As are SW20s. Turbos less so, but still out there. The widebody kit you want would still work on a North American SW20 provided you can find one. 3S-GTE? All over the damn place.

Celica? All-Trac. There's your GT Four. RC was just special bits that mean nothing if you're going to modify it (and, indeed, an RC proper shouldn't be modified in a way that would make it impossible to return to stock).






As for me? Any of the proper Jag XJRs (done up for maddening power of course) or perhaps an Arnage because it would more than make up for my personal lack of class.

Really! Looks like I'm going to have to take a trip out to Texas, the SW20 Turbo and AE86 are nearly impossible to find here in Ohio. And I would never mod the RC, that things perfect the way it is!

Theres and 86 GTs but it's without the 5 valve head and Supercharger. And there's two SW20's but both of them were NA's and here in the US the NA's came with the 5S-FE, only 130hp here. It's not a strong motor for building at all, as it's just an engine that came from a Toyota grocery getter.
