Back in the day, what dares did you carry-out or what games did you play to show your friends that you were a "man"? I played two.
The first one was played after PT in high school. After swimming we would take turn belting each other on the back with an open hand. The longer it went on, the harder the back slapping got. I remember those red marks well.
The second was played on the rugby field, with a new, hard tennis ball. A bunch of us (10 or more) would gather on the field. The nominated guy was handed the tennis ball and the game was for him to get as many of us tagged as possible. Tagging was done by throwing the ball as hard as possible as the rest of us, who scurried around a limited area. Being hit = being tagged.
You were "Zoned" if you got hit below the belt. That meant you were a man above men if you carried on playing without rolling on the ground clutching yourself.
