What did you do in FM23 today?

I'm not quite there yet but the first thing I think I'm gonna do is top off that Auto Union car to level 50 in Birth of GP then work on some other cars. Might try some Rivals for variety.
I had originally thought about doing GTP endurance again with other cars but that fog or haze they threw on Nurburgring GP during the night annoyed me as does the whole day into night back into day cycle they really pushed. It's just not worth the aggravation.

Finished my version of the Chevrolet Gran Prix at Mid-Ohio. I forgot how fun racing in P2 is, especially zipping by the GT traffic. Now that my fun is over, time for the torture of Formula 60s...

Finished Formula 60s and now running my own GT VIR race before I start the Endurance Series.

Wow, 3 out of 4 attempted races and I keep crashing out (feels like a memory leak.) Unfortunately at this point, I'm at the mercy of Nvidia drivers because apparently there is no one working on fixes at Turn 10.
Well after updating the drivers and making some tweaks on Nvidia's app I'm back to stable conditions (and very good performance I may add).

Finished a free-play with with modern sport gt cars. I created at 20 lap race at Yas Marina and used the 2015 Aston Martin Vantage GT12. Then went car shopping afterwards.

  • 1972 Ford Falcon XA GT-HO
  • 1993 Jaguar XJ220
  • 1969 Lola #6 Sunoco T70 MkIIIB

Not today but, I ran a D Class Puma in C Class open rivals at Suzuka Short. Expecting to be trounced, I feel I placed decently. I even beat a few friends that were running C class stalwarts like the S2000.

Unfortunately, the game decided not to quick resume (black screen), so my 5+ hours are gone...

I'll take a break from long enduros for a while.

I realised that I'm finally getting towards finishing the Builders Cup, having only the open series left to conquer. So I embarked on that journey with a 1971 Skyline GT-R, maxing it out in E Class with the race bodykit (including externally mounted oil cooler), and a few other mods to bring it up to the 300 point limit.

What an absolute barrel of fun that car is! An exercise in oversteer management but with great corner speed if kept mostly in line, and from the first race at VIR South, dicing with a Holden Torana A9X on level 7 difficulty, I had a blast. Now onto D-Class...

EDIT: Oh and I had a quick go at the latest McLaren/Logitech G Challenge with the M23 at Fujimi. Holy hell does Forza's soundscape shine with this combo and the many tunnels. It sounds utterly fantastic!

Well, if you are on PC, I'm comfortable with this last recommendation if you have an RTX 40- or 50- series. Download and install the latest drivers, and for play at 1440p, in FM, set the upscaler to DLSS - performance, then in Nvidia's own app, in the Graphics section, select FM, go down the list and in DLSS Override - Model Presets, select Recommended (which will force DLLS 4.5 and the M preset that is optimal for performance).

With this you can even select full RT reflections and RTGI (if you prefer) with the high graphics preset and easily get 80+ fps with an excellent and sharp image, which frankly, is unrivaled by other racers on PC (mods or no mods).

And this is way beyond of what can be achieved visually in the X/S consoles.

Slowly knocking over the remaining Open Class tours in the career mode. Word of advice for those who haven't attempted A-Class yet - don't use the RX-7 Spirit R. I did my usual performance upgrades like removing weight, adding suspension, driveline and braking components, and wound up with a car that just didn't have near-enough power so I had to absolutely rag it to get on the podium. And this was made worse by two of the tracks effectively being a collection of long acceleration zones (Homestead Road Course and Road America East). And I just can't come to terms with Mid Ohio - it just seems to punish understeer and lacks flow in a lot of places. Still managed to get the championship despite not winning a single race and generally hating the car/track combos.

For S-Class, I tried an old Porsche, the 1993 Porsche 911 Turbo Leichtbau, and what a peach of a car! Could brake much later than the ZL1 GT350 opposition at the front, and apart from at Hakone, had more than enough pace and cornering speed to hang with the best. Great car.

I then succumbed to temptation and took on R-Class with the Diablo GTR, and though I love the look of them, I was expecting the driving experience to be akin to skiing while drunk with a full keg of beer strapped to your back. All that V12 weight up high and ready to pendulum you into a wall at a moment's notice. I couldn't have been more wrong. With the few limited performance upgrades available to it, the car has a very neutral to slight-understeer balance, and is an absolute rocket in a straight line. And it sounds fantastic. Running it in this livery helps too:

Did a couple of races in the RC-F Spec Series, in preparation of this week's Casual Racing Monday. Decided to throw a quick livery on the car - I'm quite pleased with the result, and so I've decided to release it to the public.

For those who may want to grab it, the filename is #39 Gzox.

I saw this car when I was like 3 years old.

I'm gonna age myself terribly here. I used to watch it race in the Australian Nations Cup series back in the early 2000's against Viper GTS-Rs, Ferrari 360 Challenge/NGT racecars and a whole bunch of other miscellaneous supercars...

the game being closeted 😵‍💫
Erm... I don't think that means what you think that means :)

Aaanyway, did the R-Class category last night in the F40 Competizione and what a car! Throwing the upgrades at it to bring it up to 900 points, it not only sounds fantastic and goes like hell, it actually drives pretty much the way you'd expect from an F40. Very boosty, a little bit of body roll, and tail-happiness on WOT, but very much in a hunkered-down, far more serious racecar fashion.

Can I reiterate how brilliant it sounds? The very best of flat-plane V8 Ferrari, and loud and angry enough that it doesn't get smothered completely by the turbos. Chasing down the T50's for the wins last night, the angry little 2.9 litre V8 more than held its own against the howl of that brilliant Cosworth V12.

Now what to choose for P class? Group C madness? Modern GTP? Or maybe some kind of WSC grip monster? Methinks a shootout is in order...

It is decided. After a quick test drive of both the 333SP(the heart's choice) and the R91CP around Mount Panorama, the Nissan was almost 5 seconds a lap quicker with no tuning! How could they make such a rocketship so damn driveable?

So I've bought one, and yanked the restrictor plate and put on wider tyres. Full Blundell spec.

Just reached total level of 1,500 (*1 and 500), I love to do a lot of rainy racing so I did a bunch of it.

Also I unlocked the Lambo Reventon by doing 10 laps on Yas Marina in an Exotic GT Car. I'm currently driving it and I like it! 👍

I picked the Lotus F1 car for the final X-class open series.

EDIT: Turns out I might not be. This thing is way faster than anything else in X - provided you can deal with the immense lag and explosive levels of boost. And Hakone for the final event? Really? After Yas Marina and then Le Mans?

And then following it up with a feature race in a much slower car on the same track? Give me strength.
