In todays news, Took the Sauber Mercedes to Spa. Don't know what it is, but for me, when it rains, not just at Spa, I put full wet tyres on, Lower the fuel map, brake early, stay off the kerbs, and stay in a higher gear so that I have traction & torque, but whichever car I'm using, just seems to slide & not want to turn. Is it me? Or are the physics shot?.
Anyhoo, won the race, so all good.
Again Honest Tony has nothing new in used cars. Must be a week since he had something. Mr Hagerty sold me a Chaparral 2J though. He could sell snow to the Inuit, that bloke

Edit. Forgot to add that a 4 star ticket got me Titanium conn rods for a Charger Hellcat safety car😏. Do I really want one? 🤔

Akf grind again.

Turned the ffb down to 1 on the gt pro wheel turned on every single assist, painted a fiat 500 panther pink, found a 'Charlotte' decal which I plastered on the bonnet. Then my 6 year old daughter slipped into tge drivers seat for the first time and did a few laps of the tiny oval circuit! (After I tested ffb of course ;)).

As she grew more confident, moved into the an older mini, then a newer one. Had to head out to her gymnastics for a bit, but she's talking about how much she loves 'tge driving game' :D.

Did Monza 800pp with the BMW VGT , 10 laps of missing my brake points and a solid 3rd place..

3 star on the Wheel of trolling gave me the lowest prize (what a surprize!) 10k just as the 2 star card gave me yesterday. Right now i can't remember when the Wheel hasn't been making a fool of PD and their crappy game design.
I wish they would just let skip the formality of the "spin" when you know good and well what it is going to be. Just let me click on the ticket however many times to just see the "prize" at the end. I know what I am going to get but when I watch it go around I always hold out hope I will get something besides the lowest prize. It always goes to something I want then at the last minute 2K :banghead:

I did the Kyoto Driving Park One Hour, using my Ford Focus ST '15, and I won it on the first try! Even though I used Sports Hards, I still felt like pitting at one point, not to mention I needed more fuel. I was surprised how slow the refueling rate was for this race, but I eventually passed the leader towards the start of what ended up being the last lap. All that's left now is the Alsace One Hour, the Maggiore One Hour, and the Red Bull Ring One Hour. And for the Alsace One Hour, I plan to try using a tuned Ford Mustang Mach 1 '71. Funny enough, I think that car has over 30 more HP than the Focus I used for the Kyoto Driving Park One Hour, despite the Mustang having almost exactly 100 less PP!

I began a series in Single Player that I hope to continue with the same gusto with which I've started...
I'm compiling a list of garage cars eligible for each event. The aim being to try out as many as possible in each race, spending the least possible credits.
So, I'll begin with the car with the lowest PP closest to the recommended, race it Stock (with appropriate tyres, depending on the car), then gradually tune up providing I actually enjoyed driving the motor in question. If not, I'll move on to the next lowest PP car, or a different event.

Yesterday I did a couple of European FR 550 races and Ferrari Events at Dragon Trail.

I'll be tracking my progress through Race Photos, sharing the details of each car after each attempt. This is the part which will test my commitment to the 'project'.

When it rains at spa you imagine you are driving a race in slow motion. Slowly you will gain confidence learn the dryer line and get more speed in the car

It's pretty tough but very satisfying when you get there.

Not much, just made a livery for the R8 EVO since I plan on using it a bit.

Thanks for the advice. It seems like every car I use in the wet has the same characteristics. I slow down brake early, stay in a higher gear at corners so I have the torque & traction for exit, but they just don't seem to want to turn. I've tried changing brake bias too. It's cost me many a race win.
I use the race radar in the wet. The grey line seems to be the safer way around & staying off the kerbs.

If everything fails, enable TCS. I am far from the rain champ and i can handle it, to some extent :)

I'm working on a 600pp version of the Peugeot RCZ Gr B Rally Car. Completed the livery and ran a couple other races to tune out some understeer. Ready to do the 600pp Tokyo 12 lapper tonight. Hoping this could be another car that I can add to my list of capable cars for that race. I like having a variety of cars I can use to make $$$.

4 attempts for the GR1 race at Daytona with finishes in 7th, 6th, 4th, and finally 2nd. I think over all I have run it 14 or 15 times always ending outside of 3rd. Hyundai was ok but just wasn't getting it done so ended up going back to the trusty 908 for the podium finishing race.

Today I bought me some nice and good looking VGT Cars, only to find out that they still don’t have a modeled and proper Cockpit View…ah well there go my 3Million…wasted for nothing.
PD, these Cars are Fantasy Vision Cars so how hard can it actually be to render a Cockpit?! It has been like that since GTS…what are you Guys actually doing 😅

Got 4th in the Tokyo WTC600 12 lap race in the Huracan road car.

I was within 6 seconds of the lead on lap 11, pushing hard on FM1, then on the last lap came off my line slightly and clipped the barrier. 5 second penalty, and that was that!

It’s a tough race. You need a car that will carry speed on the straight, but that means it’s not going to be brilliant in the bends to stay under 600PP. I ran the Huracan with stock brakes and suspension, sports hard tyres. I might experiment with dropping the power slightly more to allow maybe sports medium tyres or uprated suspension. I don’t think the brakes need touching.

I’ll keep at it!

5th day without launching the game. I did update it, which is still a stupid process. Small patch, wait 15 minutes for the entire game to be copied. That SSD isn't that fast, and it won't download updates for the next game until it's finished copying the game. PS4 would update 3 games at the same time...

On the GTP account, I did the usual Tokyo rain dance and saved the best lap for last (sub-2:13.5). The 2-star insult was a 5,000 Cr. one.

On the Plus account, I went to Autopolis for a 1st in the Clubman Cup in the 2020 Toyota GR Supra RZ (previously 2nd in the 2008 Fairlady Z). I then tried the WTC 700 in my usually-Gr.4-beater Focus RS and found it too slow. I instead used the suspension/LSD/downforce settings from Praiano's tune of the 2019 Toyota GR Supra Race Car (for 639.41 PP) and a no-stop strategy (FM6) to easily blitz the WTC 700 race. Once again, the 2-star insult was a 5,000 Cr. one.

I went back to the GTP account to buy the Daytona Yellow Corvette convertible as that is one of the 2 used cars over there which I tuned and didn't have an unaltered duplicate.

Of the last 19 roulettes on the Plus account, 17 have been the low-cash ones (including the last 8) and 2 have been worthless invites for cars that I already owned thanks to the auto-granted invites (1 of which extended an invite time frame for a second time).

I did the WTC700 race on Deep Forest in the Lamborghini Huracan Group 4 and the VGT race on Interlagos in the Lamborghini VGT. Won them both without much trouble then proceeded to take my 972HP Nissan GT-R R35 Safety Car (or rather Danger Car) to Daytona which was rather frightening. I also drove the Alfa Romeo 4C on the Red Bull Ring and my modified Porsche 911 993 on Dragon Trail. The 4C is a great car to drive with excellent road holding and agility that puts some of the bigger, more powerful supercars to shame. We really need more cars like this in GT7 (looking at you Lotus).

This is similar to what i am doing, i race with all the appropriate cars and suggested PP, this way i get to drive all the cars not just once but lots of times. I have only 135 cars in my garage and most of them were gift cars from menu books, I’m in no hurry to purchase all cars, in total i have only brought 3 cars from Brand Central, and 2 of those i had no choice, Hoping you finish your project and enjoy your racing.

Decided to try the WTC 800 Sardegna 15 lapper in the Lexus Petronas Tom’s without handicapping it to FM 3 and make 2 stops if needed. Left it on FM 1 and let rip. Amazingly it could do 8 laps on a tank - well not quite true, half way through lap 8 I upped it to FM 3 as it was marginal! Lapped everything up to position 2 today, and would have got that one too given another half lap! The car's amazing.

I think I wasted an opportunity at Spa on the hour long race. I've tried it a couple of times before and it's started raining AND got dark very early on. Today I did about 15 minutes and it was still bright and sunny. However, I was punted off at a corner. While trying to get out of the gravel, with my foot on the accelerator, I got reset onto the track and promptly crashed again (because my foot was on the pedal! 🤣 ). That set me back from 4th to about 15th so I called it a day. Does this track have variable start times, i.e. is it possible that the full race can be done in daylight???

Got a 4 star ticket, didn't expect much, 2 piles of coins, 2 cars and 10 gold bars. I couldn't't believe it when it stopped on the bars! 1 Million Credits, thank you very much!!!!

Just to add, the PS5 makes sharing media a doddle!

Did 2 runs @ Sardegna 800pp race with the Toyota Hypercar i can hit 1:40:XXX with this car and you only need to pit once, i am pretty certain you can do a race without pitting with the right fuel mix.. but a bit boring. There are plenty of other cars that can do it quicker (afaik) but anyway. It runs out of battery on lap 9/10 and then you are doing laps +5 second laps.

Fun stuff

It's always nice to see when someone gets a good prize from the shoddy ticket system. Great luck @seadog777 Enjoy that gold!

For me, these last few days I've been making a lot of my cars all rusted up beater cars. Why? Because I'm finding out that I personally have more enjoyment thrashing around a rust bucket than I do a shiny car. I also seem to have greater connection to a car that's seen some wear and tear than cars that look showroom quality.

I really wish we could scuff up the interior of these cars too, make then look used and abused because as it is now they all look like nobodies butt has even been in the seat once.

My friends used to make fun of me for not washing my car once a week. They also thought I was a bit sub-human for leaving dents as is. Well, guess who had no problems travelling up the dirt roads to go to people's cottages in the summer? I love cars with character. Showroom shine is nice but if it's always showroom shine, then are you even driving it?

Gr.B cars work quite well at the Le Mans WTC700. So well that you could do an eighth lap if you wanted to…or wait until the timer runs out without any worry of people passing you since they are over a minute and a half behind. I would do the latter to save the time.

The Audi Sport Quattro S1 is a fantastic choice for this race and I highly recommend it. A really skilled player can easily crack a sub-4-minute lap.

So, as promised, something a bit more exciting to report today... my first lap(s) in Gran Turismo using a wheel since GT4!

Thanks so much to @daan for the wheel, pedals, cables, nuts, bolts and for delivering it to my place - it looks and feels brilliant, and I'm delighted to have a real driving rig after all these years of button-pushing.

The wheelbase and pedals are Fanatec CSL Elite, and the wheel is the Fanatec ClubSport BMW M3 GT2 - frankly, I couldn't have wished for a better set up - and it's great to know that this set-up has been in such capable hands previously. The stand is a GT Omega Apex and little did I know that they are based within walking distance of my apartment - though it would not have been fun trying to walk home with this bugger under my arm.

The set-up folds away, but I'm able to just shift it in and out of position, so it is very handy being so compact, and my long-ignored IKEA chair is perfect for a cheap alternative to a racing seat.

After a slight snafu with needing a 3 mm Allen Key* as well as the 4 mm key provided with the stand, and all the others that come with the wheel and that I had in my 'utility shoe box of mystery', I managed to get everything set up and working, and took the BMW M3 GT2 out for a drive around the Nurburgring - and got my first indication of just how much of a mountain I have to climb in terms of re-learning my favourite game!!

-

Ironically, the last time I ever had a shot of a wheel to play Gran Turismo was probably at @daan's house many moons ago when he hosted a mini-LAN at his place. Prior to that, I had a wheel for GT3/GT4 when I lived in London ca. 2005-2006, but didn't use it so I gave it away, never to be replaced. I've always thought that the learning curve was too long to bother with, so I continued to play the game with the controller, but now I figured it was time to move on and start playing with a decent wheel.

* Luckily, my old lab is only a 20 minute walk away and they have more Allen Keys than the Greater London phone book. I still have access to the lab, and so I popped in this evening to get the 3 mm key that allowed me to hard mount the wheelbase to the stand, and it worked perfectly.

Glad you've got it up and running. There's always a worry that I forgot to include an important cable or something.

Hope you enjoy it. 👍

On the Plus account, I did the 2 races at Suzuka that I hadn't done before (WTC 800 and GT Cup Gr.3) with the 730PP-tuned Corvette Gr.3. After finding out I needed to push a bit harder at the beginning of the WTC 800 race, I pulled off a no-stop FM6 win. It was very dicey even though my best lap was within hundredths of the rabbit, though I managed to hound the 2 front-runners into stopping a second time at the end of lap 9. I had forgotten Suzuka was a variable-weather track, though the sprinkle that showed up mid-race didn't hurt the track any.

The GT Cup was a laugher, which I needed after the ultimate booby prize of 10,000 Cr. I got out of the 4-star marathon roulette (there weren't even any gold bars as an option). Ten ****ing thousand credits? Seriously? I guess I should be thankful it wasn't even less, or yet another Porsche invite as I got the last of the 3 Carrera GTs I wanted (1 to keep stock, 1 to eventually tune all the way with the standard body, 1 to eventually tune all the way with the wide body). I also bought 2 more Silvia Q's to eventually do the same treatment to drain the rest of the bank account as the Bugatti invite I won earlier in June disappeared.

On the GTP account, I decided to try a different Focus on the Sarthe WTC 700 race after seeing Exeter's tune (I deleted the high-RPM turbo to keep the PP at 663.58). I found I really needed to shorten 6th gear, so I tried 0.974. It isn't as fast on the straights as the RS, but its better speed in and coming out of the turns and slightly better mileage (I could probably do 5 laps on FM6 with short-shifting) makes up for it.

As for the race, I screwed up the strategy and the drive, staying out on lap 3 as the rain came down, didn't move the fuel map up from 6 when I did pit (for wet tires) on lap 4, then spun at the entrance of the Porsche curves on lap 5 to eventually erase an 11-second lead. I forgot the field came down on lap 4 for mostly intermediates (some did full wets and some stayed on their hard compounds, so I was surprised when the rabbits didn't pit on lap 6. I turned up the wick, a bit too much as we all went off at Mulsanne, and Portilla got out of there first. I turned up the wick some more and nipped Portilla in the Ford chicane. It still didn't affect the "clean" race bonus.

The 2-star workout roulette disappointed, with a semi-racing muffler for the 2008 Nissan Fairlady Z (guess the GTP account is at the point where the Wheel of Despair has decided to start giving me useless parts rather than a pittance of cash).

At least I improved on this week's WRS time trial.

Played a few Race B but really hoping next week we have a better selection. Did the Le Man 30 min event twice and the Spa 1 hour once, winning all 3 with clean bonus so got a nice 3M from that, or close to it. Didn't really need to farm credits, its just that those 2 races are actually races, not sprints!
