What did you do in GT7 today?

Busted the steering wheel out again. It sits in it's box most times as I game in a home office setup. Quickly realized that the last chicane on this week's Daily B is a bastard with a steering wheel. I've spun or gone off 3 out of 5 races, where as I have no issue with a controller.

I've barely touched GT7 the past few days since... whenever it was. I've been immersed in writing fiction, a novel based in the No Man's Sky universe, and it has been way more satisfying than any video game. Those who create artistically - writing, art or music, I do all three - will understand. And it's been a lot of fun to consider how the only Human being in a galaxy full of aliens would feel. As long as I have the steam to create, that's where I'll be spending most of my day. I've posted a whole mess of it over at the atlas-65 dotcom forums.

However, I have been racing, though it was the usual Tokyo grind which I used to Tomahawk Chop. Two or three races a day. I've been trying out a few cars and settled on the Aston Martin DP100 two days ago, since a few people have been crowing about it. At first I thought I'd wasted a million credits on it, as it performed about the same as many others. But then I began to see how the power band was working, and that it had a lot of grunt lower in the band, most likely helped with the Power Restrictor. It also made it sip fuel, amazingly so, and soon I was laying down some of my fastest laps yet - outside of the Tomahawk. I have no images to share as the car is rather homely to me, and I can barely remember what cars I've bought over the past few days, but they include
  • Third Ford GT '06 from the Used Lot
  • 2x Ford GT40 Mk1 '66 from Hagerty's, plus
  • 3x Ferrari 288 GTO '84
Sadly, I missed the Mercedes Sauber C9 and McLaren F1. Oh well, looks like I'll be saving a lot of money for the F40 and other goodies coming up.

Quick edit: sorry "cool kids," I still love the game. It's just that I'm a creator in my soul, and I truly love bringing worlds and people to life through prose. Love making music and art too, but writing is a lot easier.

I've only done a handful of races in sport but I finally went up from a D to a C which is nice. Had 3 good races and 1 with a guy who kept shoving and brake testing. Thankfully I nipped over the line ahead of him.

Working my Le Mans lap time down, into the 1:21s. Not enjoying the night time though, during the day it's too bright in my living room and by the time the night comes my eyes are tired and my contacts are not their best...

Finally did the Sardegna WTC 800 with the BRZ GT300 on hard. The car is a beast, really killing it for me in WTC 800 events (also did the SPA 1H with it)

Went with medium tires, fuel 3, short-shifting all the way, and pitted every 5 laps. Doing ~1:39, maybe 1:40 in the last lap before pitting. If that Viper did not pit 3 times I had no chance. He also got stuck in traffic in the last 2 laps due to the Vantage, but I would win it anyway as I just needed to do better than 26:20:xxx. Did 26:17:xxx.

Will probably test other GR3 cars there, suggestions are appreciated. Thinking about going with the McLaren, not sure how it handles fuel though.

Got Gold at Nürburgring Grand Prix Circuit Experience and then put some extra effort into the full lap with a goal of hitting a 1'55.X and ended up with a 1:55.779. Still room for improvement on this lap but moving on. One Circuit Experience remaining (Fuji) to achieve gold in everything [so far] in the game.

Also, my son created a livery for me today:

Bought the AMG CLK-LM, it's been talked about so much. Knocked it down to just under PP800 by putting RH tyres on it and adding 126Kg ballast.
Took it to Sardegna - it is fast but much more thirsty than the Lexus I've been using. Needed to pit twice but still a very comfortable win.
2 star ticket gave me Cr. 30,000. That paid for the tyres on the AMG, and a few oil changes / car washes for the cars I've neglected in the garage, which is fine. 😇

So only had 1/2 hour or so today. Decided to go to LeMans with the GT40 mk1. Was leading when the rain came on lap 2. Pitted for wets. Rain stopped at the end of lap 3. Decided to risk another lap on the wets. Bad, bad decision. Dry track toasted the wet tyres. Car became undriveable. Spun 3 times before limping to the pits for RH. Finished 4th.
Yet again, Honest Tony's Used Cars had nothing new. Might need to find another dealer.
Mr Hagerty sold me an Arbath Biposto B. A. T1. He's also got me thinking about the Mercedes AMG CLK... A bit of grinding may be in order

Edit... 4 star rigged roulette ticket produced 30,000 credits. Could've been worse I suppose. Hey ho

I was saving for the 917 for when it came back around. However, when I checked and saw the CLK-LM, I had to have it. So that took most of my credits.

I tried to do the Alsace one hour race for gold, but for the life of me, I can't drive those old cars. I struggle so much, then I tried to get the gold on Le Mans circuit experience. I did improve my time, but the gold still eluded me. I will get it, eventually, as I get better on the track. At least I improved my silver time, quite a lot, so I don't feel too bad about it. Will keep on trying, though.

On the GTP account, I did some preliminary testing on the WRS Week 10 time trial after buying 2 RCZ Gr.3 road cars and creating a WRS livery for the time-trial car (not as elaborate as @Allibubba99's). I then did the (dry) Sarthe grind with the Gr.B Focus, and it is indeed faster than the Focus RS I had been using. On FM6, which is good for better than 4 laps, I had an assisted 4:25.0 lap, and figure a 4:27.0 unassisted lap is probable as that is what I was on track for on lap 4. On FM3, which is what I ran the last 3 laps at (after a full fuel), I turned a pair of unassisted 4:20.5 laps to close it out, and almost made Indianapolis on lap 7 before the clock ran out. In the RS, I would have needed to run FM4 on the second stint, and barely make it to the end of Mulsanne in 30 minutes.

The 1-star marathon roulette gave the usual low-cash 5,000 Cr. (I guess I should be happy it wasn't 2,000 Cr.). Even if I didn't burn 600,000 Cr. on the Peugeot, I wouldn't quite have had enough for the cheapest Hagerty's car I don't already own (the DB3S).

I'll work on the Plus account later.

@Marts - You're right; it could have been worse. I got a 10,000-Cr. 4-star yesterday.

@BloodRaven - You'll have plenty of time to save up for the 917; it only sold out 5 days ago, and it takes 6-7 weeks to work through the order in Hagerty's (assuming no "skips").

Edit - Later became now. I first went to Kyoto to redo the Japanese 4WD Challenge that I took 2nd in with the R32 earlier. As I changed the R32 to a 600PP monster, I sent the R34 to reclaim Godzilla's crown. I then went to High Speed Ring to do the 2 races I hadn't done previously. The Ford Mustang Gr.4 with @Jump_Ace's tune did nicely in the GT Cup Gr.4 race, even though the competition used the high line as well. The Radical SR3 handled the Clubman Cup Plus despite being overpowered as the competition there didn't know about the high line. The 3-star marathon gave the usual low-cash 5,000 Cr.

I might have to give that tune a go at Sarthe. I almost feel dirty using overpowered cars there...almost.

Edit 2 - The Mustang Gr.4 is, at best, marginal at Sarthe, at least at stock power. I can't quite keep up with the Huracan for a 1-stop strategy, and it's too slow for a dry 2-stop one. I did, however, manage a 1st because the rain came in the middle of lap 2 and I was the first to pit at the end of the lap for IM tires. BTW, that was done on the GTP account, and I decided to get a third Huyara as long as I had the invite (1 to keep stock, 1 to tune with the standard body eventually, 1 to tune with the wide body eventually).

Took me ages to complete this. Won it finally using the De Tomaso Pantera with wide body and tyres. Have a look at Praiano tunes on here and Unleashed Drivers and Hsg Automotive on YouTube. They all have some excellent tunes which should help.

I have gold on sectors 2, 3, and 4. I have bronze on sector 1. I'm close to silver, but the Dunlop Chicane is where I'm losing time. I haven't attempted sector 5 or the full lap, yet. I will say that the Peugeot is easier to driver than the Porsche we had to use in GT Sport. Well, it is for me anyway.

Threw together a really basic carbon livery with minimal powder black decals for the GR4 Subaru.

Decided to run one Daily A for the hell of it. Hit the midnight slot and it was dead - 7 of us in total, me as the only DR B racer, everyone else was C or D. I won by about 5 seconds.

Finally got this after 3 months of waiting 🎉

Making her earn her keep 🙂

Le Mans: Hard tires, run at map 6 all race and no stop.

Sardinia: Hard tires, map 6 till lap 10 then pit and fuel for 7 laps, keep tires. You can then enjoy the last 5 laps at map 3 and 4.

Hard difficulty, no assists, manual gear changes. It's an amazing car, worth the credits 😁

We must be running vastly different tunes on this car!

LeMans for me is FM1 for 3 laps, pit for fuel and finish. Fastest laps in the 3:43 range.

Sardegna, I 2 stop. Again FM1 the whole way, very comfortably get 6 laps out of it. You don't need too but I change tyres on the second stop, like the fresh rubber to basically time trial the last few laps. I'm quite regularly hitting 1:35 and a fastest race time of around 25:14-25:15.

I'll share my settings once I get home in the morning, I'd be interested to see yours.

As for what I did today, not a lot. Had time for a quick blast at LeMans 800 in my CLK before heading out for work. Got the clean race bonus which was a nice little boost. 4 star ticket for my efforts, won a KTM X-Bow. It's a car I don't have so I'm not complaining.

It's probably the fuel map. When I take my Tomahawk S to Sardegna, I can do either a FM1/1 stop or a FM6/no stop at roughly the same total time with the same tune.

Didn't have time to fiddle about in too much detail. Added 140kg, reduce the accelerator sensitivity to 35 and the power/ ECU until I got down to 800PP

Bought the CLK LM. Now I get the hype. What a car!

Used it to blitz Sardegna with about 90kg of ballast and a slight power reduction to get under 800PP, and within half a lap I knew that my trusty NSX GT500 would now be taking a break from the WTC800 events.

Got a 2 star ticket and won an exhaust for a car I think I own but doubt I’ll ever drive.

Now to sort a livery for the CLK 😁

Since I got a Ferrari invitation this past week, I decided to buy another Enzo, in Nero, to keep stock. I took the one I bought before then, in Rosso Mugello, and tuned it for the Le Mans WTC700 race. Won by a comfortable margin.

I also did a couple of runs around Sardegna for the WTC800 in a nearly maxed-out BRZ GT300 and enjoyed it. Definitely one of the best Gr.3 cars in terms of handling in the game. My first run ended in a fifth place because I didn’t realize that I was almost out of fuel when I started lap six…D’OH! My second run was far more dominant.

Btw, is anyone else shocked that they didn't include a LeMans event this week?

Still farming. I had a few Race B this morning. I am trying to get back to A/S after I sent a dude into the netherverse a few weeks ago. They sure made it tough to climb back out of a hole. No complaints though. I campaigned for that change in GTSport

I'm B/A, was B/S for the longest time. As far as I know, the only reason my SR dropped to A was due to track infractions, and only a handful of them, as I haven't had any other types of penalties.

I've thrown down 3 clean races so far and still B/A, so yeah, PD make it hard to dig yourself out of the hole.

If only KudosPrime was running so I could actually see where I'm at...

Today was a nice relaxing way to end the weekend. Started off doing the 1hr Tsukuba Mazda Roadster mission only for my battery backup surge protector to call it quits and shut everything down with 20 seconds and one corner left of the race.... Changed it out with a regular surge protector and completed the race without issue.

Also did some other races at Spa and DT Gardens to complete some of the events that I haven't raced. Used the TVR Tuscan Speed 6 with a @praiano63 tune which was amazing. Once those were done, did the Mazda Moby Dick cone challenge and beat it by 0.050 seconds! Finally did the NSX one lap magic around Suzuka to finish the night. Just have to gold the 30 min Tsukuba in Moby Dick to complete that mission set.

Finally golded all circuit experience. Tokyo expressway layouts were incredibly frustrating. Kept on hitting the walls when going flat out in most of the layouts. Then I golded the dirt courses. Fishermans ranch was quiet the workout with my clubsport rs wheel. I also bought the clk LM... wonderful car. Wish there were a trophy for golding all circuit experience. I appreciate the money though 😁.
