What did you do in GT7 today?

So I ran a custom race in the Nurburgring GP, 3 laps, professional AI and hard difficulty. No aids except for normal ABS and TC at 1 (controller user here). Four cars only: my recently made GT4 Mustang, another GT4 Mustang in an almost identical tune (3PP of difference, 5 pounds heavier but with a racing muffler), and two of my GT4 Camaros, both with the same tune/power (359PP). They all were 6 pounds of weight differential between them, the Camaros had almost 20 more hp than the Mustangs. So...

Standing start, I'm in last position, the white Mustang flew like it had JATO rockets attached to it and one of the Camaros very close behind it. The Camaro with the same livery as my Mustang stayed fighting with me for last position. Come ending of first lap, the white Mustang was a full 3 seconds ahead, and my clone Camaro stayed almost the same time behind me. Second lap the white Mustang stayed in 1P the whole lap but by then the second Camaro was in my front bumper, my clone Camaro suddenly behind me. In the final lap, in the right hand curve before the 1st gear left-right corner, the white Mustang out of nowhere braked like it was a hairpin and I almost crashed into him but passed him on the outside and then took an almost one and a half second of distance between them. Come the final corner for the finish line, all three of them were behind me like I had a magnet attached to them. Yet the white Mustang fell behind like it gave up.

Very interesting race indeed!

I bought 2 Cappucinos, 2 Copens, and 5 S660s. I have to wait for the Honda Beat to back to the UCD to finish my Kei car collection. Hopefully they will add the Autozam Az-1 soon. I did a 7 lap custom race at Sardgena to get ready to do the 15 lap race. I came in third because in spite of doing the CE for the track I haven't learned the track well enough. Anyway I got an all credit roulette and got 10k. I hope in a future update they change tickets where you click on the ticket and you get whatever you're going to get.

Turned it on for the 3rd time in a week, looked at the used and legendary dealership, found nothing I wanted and turned it back off again.

It shouldn't have been like this 3 and a bit months in.

Started a second account so that I can play Sport Mode to relax rather than worry about getting rammed and losing DR/ SR points.

also decided to not repeat initial mistakes like tuning cars too much at the start, etc. Up to menu book 10 so far and all races are wins. Got the B and A licenses all gold too so could be that over time, my fun account might become the main 🤣

Well, I woke up and saw mention of someone winning at Sarthe with the F-150. Not to be outdone on my personal track by an American-made vehicle, I quickly juiced up my Tundra and hit the course. I managed 4th with very few adjustments to the base numbers. Ran it again with RS', was in 1st and got completely blind-sided by a ****ing monsoon at the start of L3 (weather map was CLEAR entering the pit) and dumped to the back of the pack. Clawed my way back into it and literally hopped into 5th from 8th on that last bump right before the finish line.

Got my daily which yielded a 5* and a nifty GT-R GrB which I did not yet own. Ran it, it slayed (although it's no Audi S1) at Sarthe.

Tried the C63 and started well, only to get caught by another freak rain storm. At this point the car became undrivable, the track never fully dried and I limped my way into 2nd. I pretty much tuned it myself, so either my bad or a combination of factors.

Started in on tuning the Black Series. I'm on my 3rd iteration now, the closer it is to stock, the better. It's a beauty of a car that needs next to nothing. Sometimes less is more.

Logged on in a great mood, knowing Watkins Glen is coming to GT7 tomorrow morning. I do hope they fix most of the critical issues with the game through this update, but at least a completely new track to the series is coming. A real American track too.

Anyway, I bought the SRT Tomahawk Gr.1 car (One of the few VGTs I actually really liked in GT Sport), shoved a high-RPM turbo in it, put on some hard slicks, and raced around Daytona and Sainte-Croix for the Gr.1 Prototype Series races. Managed to win both races. The Sainte-Croix race was a cakewalk since AI Wilk wasn’t even in the race, but Daytona was a close one. Overtook AI Miyazono towards the beginning of the final lap. Won by about a second. You will need to set the fuel map to 5-6 at Daytona and about 3-4 at Sainte-Croix.

The Gr.1 Tomahawk is a fantastic car. I love the handling and the V10 sound from the cockpit view. One of the easier Gr.1 cars to work and race with.

Logged into GT7 today hopefully to find goodies in the new update patch, but lo and behold they haven't released it yet and i feel like a right old melon, they say early morning like 7am BST in the UK (via the PSblog), so I chugged about in a few CE trials to better them in golds liek the nurburgring one.

Then I decided to chug on the SPA WTC800 1million credit race with the MAZDA LM55 (my new go-to-car) dropped it PP to 800 i think it was the entry requirement and chugged on for an hour. What a tricky race, was leading by the 6-7th lap then it started to chug rain and I got stuck as I quickly realised I had zero Wet tyres lol, did a quick pit but it didnt help, so I chugged on, spinning and sliding in the wet, till it got dry again and other cars started pittting aroud the 12-15-20 lap mark.

Then the time passed and the heavens opened for sunlight, now I got my mojo speed back, did a quick refuel and had only like 6-7mins countdown till race end. Was chasing the Portilla Viper for a few laps to get him and clock into first place, Finished 1st and the stupid penalty system popped up, but it didnt matter as I had a 12min lead, was so happy I got 1million and extra 500,000, not sure what for, as I was shunting the AI hard lol.

But was a cool race and a nice little prize before I broke for the night. :P

Mine did!

On the GTP account, I took the Tomahawk S to Spa and clubbed some baby seals. I probably didn't need to pit for intermediates on the first round of rain (it started raining lightly as I worked lap 8, I came down on lap 9 with the rain gauge about 1/3rd, and it never really went above that, so I came back down for hard tires on lap 11), but everybody else did as well. Everybody else also took intermediates on the second round of light rain, but I stayed out on hard tires. I eventually lapped the entire field before the supposed rabbit's 4th stop to put dry tires back on, and decided to same some fuel in case the race went 26 laps. Said fuel saving went out the window when I saw that I could push it and have the clock run out just before the end of lap 25. The fast, last lap was 2:16.5, and I lapped P2-P14 once and P15-P20 twice.

That resulted in the usual 1-star/2,000 Cr. insult from the Wheel of Despair. I splurged on the AMG CLK-LM, even though I suspect the Pikes Peak will be in Hagerty's on Friday at an 8-figure amount.

On the Plus account, I went for an all-gold S License, something I haven't done on the GTP account because some of the early WRS time trials were S-license events and I had went through them with a less-forgiving version. I needed to turn on the aids for Spa, but I squeaked out all the golds. That Red Bull had better be worth it because the lowest-possible 5,000 Cr. from the 3-star Wheel of Despair certainly wasn't.

Last night I managed to get the Ford GT to a win in the 12 lapper at Tokyo. It was good but decided I could probably make it better so I fiddled with set up and tried a couple smaller practice races. I think it will be pretty dominant tonight.

I also revised my set up on the Boss 429 Mustang and it feels much better, and was pretty quick too.

After I race the GT tonight I think I'll grab a GT3 Mustang and try the Sardinia grind.

Watched a friend do Daily Races and finally did my first Daily Race. I did the Spa Gr. 3 race, as I am quite good on the track, and used my friend the Subaru BRZ '21. Did a 2:23:500 on the qualify lap and started on 4th. Did a big mistake at the bus stop at the end of lap 1 and came up in 7th place. From there, I tried to be as consistent as possible and manage to do on FM1, short-shifting when needed and trying to conserve fuel on the turns, hoping to gain time on straights and manage a podium at least. Climbed 3 places until 4th after a big fight with a Genesis Gr. 3 where I came out on top. On lap 4 and the start of lap 5, everything happened. On lap 4, on the Pouhon, the 3th place spun. The 1st place had to pit as had only 10 fuel for lap 5. The new 1st place spun before Eau Rouge. Had enough fuel but went FM3 as I had a distance of 4 seconds to the 2nd place and ended up with 2.2 seconds in 1st place. Wasn't expecting to win my first Daily Race!

Then I learned that always going with the TCS 1 was making me not competitive enough, did a new time trial and did 2 seconds below my first qualifying time and so, right now, I will try to manage to learn at playing with TCS 0, maybe balancing with TCS 1 in tighter turns if needed (such as the bus stop at Spa).

Gawd damn I love this game, soooo addicting.. LoL.. took my 3 AD's (American Dawgs)

BB-USA-mid-level.jpg

outta the kennel once again to Trial Mountain for some ez grinding.. about an hour's worth.. to get my next German auto... yeah, the 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport..

Haven't played for a while - been dropping into Grid Legends and have become a bit obsessed with Snow Runner (quite the change of pace), but noticed the update had dropped so went in for a look.

The new extra menus are a bit underwhelming. I was only two cars away so grabbed those for my 4-star ticket, which game me a Bore Up tuning part for the boring Peugeot RCZ and 6-star Engine ticket, which gave me the Hellcat engine. Meh.

The new circuit is nicely modelled. It's not a circuit I have much knowledge of or any real affinity for, having never really got to grips with it in another game (maybe Project Cars?) and mainly just have vague memories of it from the NASCAR Racing 2 game I had way back (1996 season). Would have been much happier with a return of Grand Valley!

So I did the three races at Watkins Glen; two wins and a third place in the WTC800 race - my wildly inconsistent lap times suggesting I need a bit more practice to familiarise myself with that circuit. Will probably have to give it another go for a win, since that's all the new race content we have for another month. Also just spotted that my AMG GT3 had 'worn' engine oil, which may have been losing me some power.

Daily ticket was a wheel loaded up with stacks of gold bars, so obviously I only came away with 10k.

Honestly, the best bit of this update is that you can now move the chase cam around to look at the side of the car - that's been sorely missing from this game!

Anyway, this isn't the daily play chart of someone who's still engaged with a game. Sad that there were only three more races added this month. Other than trying to learn the new circuit, there's not a lot to draw me back in. A proper championship structure to give us some sense of progression can't come soon enough...

Edit: tried again on the WG WTC800 race, this time in my de-tuned XJR-9 (200kg of ballast and 70% power). It can go the whole 10 laps without refuelling in FM1 which, in conjunction with finding my way around the circuit a bit more consistently, resulted in an easy win, 47s ahead of second place. So now there really isn't much left to do until next month's update! 😐

Some people actually like this nonsense. I can stand the rain, but like the state of the world lately, it's bad for my peace of mind. MEH on this weather.

Still just doing Tokyo on occasion, still in the thick of writing, and this may be my natural state for a few weeks. I found that writing combat isn't as hard as I worried. Making every scene a movie in my mind for years has been a big help with tricky scenes, and even helps with dialog and humor. So, after morning tea, back to being R R Stryker.

Last night went well. I had to work late so I only had time to win the Tokyo 12 lapper with my revised set up on the Ford GT. I think I had a 10 second lead or so. Then I grabbed a GT3 Mustang and with only 40 mins to go before the update I rushed through the Sardegna race to get the big payout and won it.

I will do the Sardegna race again tonight as I was not very tidy last night, with a number of misplaced wheel drops and some late braking, it was a bit of a mess. I'll tidy it up and this car with the supercharger added can pretty much destroy this field.

As I did with the RSR, I'll keep this blown version with the super charger for grinding and a stock N/A version for testing my skills.

Looking forward to racing Watkins Glen and then I think I will see how well I can do with a Focus ST in Gr5 spec, on the Gr4 Le Mans 30 min race.

Well, what a day today was. Got home from night shift this morning, set PS4 to download the update and went to bed. Got up a bit earlier than usual, must be the excitement. Went through the cafe menu updates. Much disappointment. Thought there might have been some new challenges. Already had the 3 Rotary cars and the 3 Civics. Just 2 Toyota 86 to purchase. So ended up with a Honda NSX Grb rally car and a 6 star ticket with produced an engine for a BMW Z4 gt3 and a 4 star with gave 30,000 credits.
Went to Watkins Glen and Bronzed the CE. I'll go back to it later.
Won the American FR race with the Viper srt.
Won the 2nd race with the Ford GT mk1 66 and won the WTC 700 with the Ford GT Lm spec 2 test car.
The long track at Watkins Glen looks to be an amazing track. Looking forward to more races on there.
All in all, a pretty good update in my opinion. Should keep many people happy, but no doubt there'll be those who want more right now.

On the GTP account, I went and golded the Watkins Glen Circuit Experience, then went to town on the 3 new races there. The Mustang GT was more than enough for the American FR Challenge, the Camaro ZL1 was sufficient for the American Clubman Cup, and the BRZ GT300 (stock) dominated the WTC 800 on a no-stop/FM5 strategy. Yay to another 3 sub-1 million Cr./hour races, especially with the 2 new Hagerty's cars likely costing 8 figures apiece </sarcasm_dripping>.

I then bought the 2002 RX-7 to complete the 3 extra menus (I already had the other 8 cars), and took delivery of the NSX Gr.B, the 4-star Wheel of Despair and the 6-star engine roulette. The 4-star workout marathon Wheel of Despair was the usual lowest-possible 10,000 Cr. on an all-cash wheel, the 4-star Wheel of Despair for collecting the Toyota 86 cars was an even-more insulting semi-racing muffler for the Aventador, and the 6-star engine roulette for collecting the Mazda rotaries was the Z4 engine (which I didn't already have).

On the Plus account, I bought most of the cars I didn't have for the extra menu books (2015 Toyota 86 GT, 2021 Toyota GR 86 RZ, 2002 Mazda RX-7 Spirit R Type A (FD) and 2012 Mazda RX-8 Spirit R; the 1992 Honda NSX Type R isn't in the UCD. Speaking of that, neither of the two used cars that you can't win and are needed for the extra menu books (also the 1983 Toyota Corolla Levin 1600GT APEX (AE86)) are available in the UCD at the moment, and the Corolla won't be for a while as it last sold out on 6/18. BRILLIANT time-gating, Wile E. Yamauchi; sheer, unadulerated BRILLIANCE!

I then took the Mazda LM55 VGT (Gr.1) to the Gr.1 Prototype Series to do the races on a 1-stop strategy. Daytona fell with a 17-second win (FM5), St. Croix fell with a 9-second win (FM1; the rabbit pitted for a second time on lap 7 to help out), and Suzuka fell on the third try (didn't get through traffic cleanly on attempt 1, one of the cars did a 1-stop race on attempt 2) with a 7-second win (2 stops because of rain, FM1, IM on lap 5, back to RM on lap 8).

The Wheels of Despair were:
  • Workout, 4-star, 10,000 Cr. (lowest-possible)
  • Toyota 86 collection, 4-star, 30,000 Cr. (small cash option)
  • Mazda rotary collection, 6-star (engine), LS9-Corvette engine
  • Menu Book 41, 6-star, Jaguar Jaguar VGT SV

Well, yesterday i had a first. Decided to do the short course nurburgring for CE. Golded all sections + lap in 1 try, laptime 2 seconds under gold. Anyone else think that the times for this track are way to easy? I mean, i drove that tack a lot in pc2, but not much in gt7 and never in that car. Anyway, was a quick bit of cash. Then had a nice challenge on the le mans CE. Gonna try the new content today!
IMG_20220622_125139.jpg

Same as everybody. Had all the “extra menu” cars so picked up the rewards, bought the Suzuki Gr3 (great noise) and then messed about at Watkins in some classic muscle.

Also, thanks to my new friends for being slower than me in the CE - I’m off the bottom!
