Posting today, for a change. I missed abusing Blofeld at Tokyo, so I threw the Tomahawk around for a while. Rose was getting grumpy about how many incidents there were with the other racers, as I
occasionally forgot this was a race with other cars on the track and kind of wrecked them. I wanted a change of pace anyhow, so I dragged out the Audi R8 I had toyed with a couple of weeks ago. Tuned it just a scouche and it seemed to be within a half second of the Lambo, so I gave it a try. I had to adjust to the different handling, banging a few walls with penalties, so after some schooling with it, and do overs, it was time to get serious.
I was getting better at how to push this German monster around turns, and was quickly performing up to my standard laps. The first race was going pretty good. Within the first lap, I managed to be in sixth place heading into the tunnel. I was a bit worried about fuel consumption, though the Murcielago seemed to be the gas guzzler of the litter. I was doing pretty well, though I could get nowhere near V. Gallo and Suwillo. But I had fun tangling with Igor Fraga and Mikail Hizal. Nicely aggressive but I could out turn them, and lost both of them in the curves. V. Gallo and then Suwillo pitted and I thought the race was mine, thanks to some long gearing and short shifting, until I had to pit just before lap 10. Emerging from the pits, I was greeted with the white flash of Rose's RE Amemiya streaking past. I managed to catch her, and we went back n for the rest of the race, though I couldn't seem to lose her in the curves. On the last turn going into the tunnel, she just managed to draft around me for the win. She was nice enough to let me edge up alongside her, the stinker.
I decided to keep at it, after a slight livery tweak, and did another two races after supper. This time I felt a little better with it - after slamming into the wall at the top of the ramp and restarting. As usual, I had to work my way through the pack and earn every position, with the knowledge that I might well be playing overtake tag until I could win the turn fight among the curves.
One by one, I bested them, and again with a late pit strategy of long shifting, V. Gallo and Suwillo were passed in the pits and first was mine for a while. Except it ended up being the rest of the race, as no one could catch me, so it was an anticlimactic conclusion.
