Tried the WTC 600 round at the Nurburgring GP again. I got a clean P2 - better than my previous best of P3 - with two somewhat unusual machines. They were a Ford GT ‘06, and then a Toyota Corolla Levin; the former was on Sports Hards, and the latter on Sports Softs.
Anyway, I won a four-star ticket, from which I got my first Ultra-High-RPM turbo, and it was for the Mazda RX-7 Spirit R. That car is now the only car where I have two different parts for it, as I previously won a Racing Muffler for it. That said, I do have two Stroke Up S parts for the Honda NSX Type R '02.
I returned to the WTC 600 round at the Nurburgring GP, and decided to take a “When in Rome” sort of approach, in that this time, I tried using one of the cars the AI was using. Specifically, I took a page out of Suswillo’s playbook, and used my Nissan GT-R Nismo. It was on Sports Softs with only a ballast and power limiter installed - not even a full-customize ECU. This time, I did indeed get a clean P1!
What I found consistently odd, is that for every car that I used, I was definitely on pace to catch the leader, so I believe that if the race was longer than five laps, I could've eventually scored P1. It would've alternatively been nice to have a qualifying option, here. Another idea would be for these events to have power/weight regulations, not only to prevent certain cars from being OP, but also to get a much better idea of what to expect. The Nissan GT-R Nismo I used is probably the heaviest car I used for this event. All it had was a ballast and power limiter installed - yet it's still the car that I won with. I even had the fastest lap every time I tried using a different car.
But I think it gets weirder. When I used my tuned Ford Focus ST '15, my best lap was about 2:14, which is very close to my best time with the GT-R Nismo, yet I only won with the latter while getting P3 with the former. So I suppose I won't think about it too much - I'd chalk it up to simply starting further back in the field. This also could be due to the seemingly random starting positions of the AI drivers, as some cars like the DB11 and Huracan seem generally faster.
Oh, and I also checked out the LCD first thing. I wasn't a fan of the yellow that the 911 GT1 was, so I decided to get that silver Corvette C2 instead.
EDIT: The number of World Circuits events seems to be dwindling for me - though I still have plenty of Circuit Experiences to do. All that's left is the two WTC 600 rounds at Tokyo Expressway, and the other WTC 800 races since I already got P1 at Daytona. Hopefully, we'll get more than just three new rounds with this next update, as there are still some venues that desperately need more races. For example, the Kyoto Driving Park, Interlagos, and Monza. It's not like there are many races at the Nurburgring that aren't on the GP layout, either - but a WTC 700 or 800 event seems like it'd be a great fit.
