What did you do in GT7 today?

Set up my brand new T300 RS and started running some events. Am sliding way more often and am recovering very poorly, but I am enjoying the experience.
You need to find some kind of brake mod for the 2 pedal deck. The T3PA's are much better. Solid wheel though. I run FFB 4 or 5, and sensitivity 2.
If you want to really feel what the wheel can do, run those settings on the Mazda Showdown Rolling Stone event. Thank me later

Daily marathon on the swapped Mini, trying different setups. I have been trying this for a couple of days already. Dont know if I am driving a car or a cannon ball. Definetely, the custom engine exploit has given GT7 a second life in my case.

Yesterday, custom 2hr race on La Sarthe on Gr.3 max difficulty, random weather, on my beloved Toyota Supra '18 GR3. A couple of weeks ago I spent quite some time looking for liveries for 20 of my Gr.3 cars in order to have a very colorful grid. If only we could save custom race grids and options... and have bigger grids. 20 cars feel like a joke on bigger tracks.

Also had a play with the Mini today.

British racing green, widearch, suspension, slicks, gearbox, and an exhaust. Oh and the Honda engine, goes without saying 😏 331bhp… which is plenty!

Took it round Interlagos in the Race of Turbo Sportscars, and pretty much span the wheels the whole time. It turns really nicely into the corners if you get the back end moving under braking. Then I tended to shift up early and try to feed the power in, but with traction control off it constantly wants to spin up. Lots of fun though!

Got another daily workout 6 star engine ticket. 2nd in a few days. Which tells me things might not be so bad once PD fix the exploit - and assuming new engines become available in the future (which I really hope they do).

Ballast over the rears and stiffen up the rear suspension...

One of my Scapes is currently at the top of the 'Recommended' (Scapes) page on GT7! It's also on the main Recommended page too!!

Today we took the Jaguar XJR9 to Spa for the daily workout. Taking it from 700 to 800PP took away some of the grip in the wet that we had at LeMans. Almost monsoon conditions saw lots of cars skating around like Bambi on ice. A comfortable win tho in the end. Ticket of dispondency revealed 30,000 credits.
The "glitch" tickets gave us an invitation to Aston Martin and the engine was yet another Mustang. Got 5 now. Still no 787B tho.... Patience is a virtue, they say.
Took up the invite from Aston Martin but the cars they wanted me to buy, I've already got, so bought the V12 Vantage. Took it to Red bull ring for the Human Comedy mission. Best previous result was 2nd in 34 laps. Today, 2nd in 36 laps. Go figure. Obviously I'm quicker in the Aston, but so is Mr Beauvais. Somehow, when the rain stops, we both pit around lap 30, I'm leading, for new slick tyres, RS for me, but the AMG Mercedes is like a rocket sled on rails. Still finished 18 seconds behind. Just can't work it out.
Went to see Mr Hagerty who sold me a Nissan R92CP and a Renault Gordini.
We'll see what the Nissan can do tomorrow.
Ttfn

Some tokyo expressway races, messing around at Nurby in a couple of cars just for fun, love the sound of that NSX 17, gathered 1 new engine model and umpteen dupes plus some nice 4 star prizes of 500,000 and Beetle GR3 which I didn't own plus parts for various cars that were not for sale. Oh and completed 1 or 2 circuit experiences and TT in sport mode in the Escudo, enough to get a silver for now,, reckon a Gold is reachable.

The Honda engine puts a load more weight up front, increasing understeer. It's worth getting the weight balance more neutral and stiffening the rear...

Understeer isn’t the problem. I think you might have misread my post?

Like I said, it turns in fine. It just spins its wheels, right up the straight.

Sounds like you need to give the diff settings some love and go gentle on that go pedal! Stiffening up the rears also helps keep traction on the front end though - the more compression available at the rear, the less traction on the front end.

Yeah I haven’t tuned it at all, just a quick upgrade of a few parts. It’s still pretty quick if you drive it how it likes to be driven.

I get the feeling it’ll be less of a challenge than sorting out the V8 MR2!

Had to work late last night but that did not stop me from jumping in for a short session of my immersion week with Mazda.

I started the build on my Gr5 Miata, and I built two 600pp RX7's. I modified the Re Amemiya RX7 and built a stock one. I raced the RX7s a bit to sort out set up. Pretty quick but admittedly I would like to build a faster more aggressive, 700hp monster for fun. Most I could do with each was around 500hp which I'm hoping is good enough to win 600pp races. That said, driving them indeed made me feel like a more powerful rotary would sound amazing and be great fun. So I want to get that 787B engine and see what I could do with that!

Tonight's racing will be the Tokyo 12 Lapper with both RX7's and maybe Sardegna with the RX Vision Gr3. I also want to build a 600pp RX8, that may have to wait until tomorrow.

I'd also like to complete the build on my Miata. Long range plan for the weekend is a Miata cup custom race where I will build 10 old and new (mixed), Miata's at Gr5 spec. This first one will set the tone and then I'll just copy set ups and make 10 different cars with different liveries. Should be a creative project.

A few firsts for me in GT7 today...

1. Got a Scape featured (at the top of the page!) in Recommended Scapes
2. (and as a result of above) Got my first 100+ likes for a Scape photo

but my favourite:

3. Revisited Fuji Circuit Experience, but this time using the wheel. Got the three individual sector Golds pretty easily, and then had a first attempt at bettering my Full Lap time that I set a few weeks ago with the controller (having not bothered with the individual sectors). That original Gold took me ages - I don't remember exactly, but it was at least an hour, but probably more. Tonight - Gold and faster by 0.5s on my first attempt...

Old School Reaction GIF

... I can't believe how much better it is running around my favourite circuit with the wheel. It's awesome, and I'm staggered at being quicker than myself with a controller.

Certainly a nice way to cheer myself up on my 4th day isolating with COVID...

Bought the R92 and that funky little Renault.

Setup the swapped Integra for Sarthe with Exeter’s tune as the basis. First run was good, but I screwed up the trans and something else I don’t recall, I just felt like there was more to be had. 2nd run was about 3-4s quicker per lap, just missed on the 4:10’s though. Due to fuel economy, I think it would struggle on the other big tracks.

Spent a lot of time dialing in the F40 in for Sarthe. I really like the results as compared to everything I’ve tried so far. The tune is pretty forgivable, yields very consistent times and I even got it under 4:10, so happy camper. Posted results are in Exeter’s tuning post, although I used a lot of ‘input’ from a number of tunes published by others, so thanks to all for that.

Put he finishing touches on the Watkins Glen Championship ‘2nd Draft’. If you’re interested or have input/feedback, please do so here.

I’m afraid I still won’t be getting to that Veneno test at Spa or the ‘84 GTO Grand Slam attempt today. Thats what tomorrow‘s for I guess!
