Congrats and best of luck for the last gold! (A tip I had to end up using is to just try out different assists just for gold and then turn them off again)
Picked up the silver but still 4 secs off, so decided to take a break for my sanity and have another go at Watkins Glen.

There’s easier ways to make a million but that was pretty satisfying, and used the winnings towards the last car in my Japanese collection.

147 completed the hard/stupid way, no extra tickets or Tomahawk grinding. Now on to America. Feel the need for some Shelby speed.

Did my daily for a 4 star ticket which gave me a Veyron Gr.4. Having never driven this car prior, even in GTS, I decided to give it a go. Took the Veyron Gr4 to Tokyo to do a time trial. I wasn't really expecting to like this car as much as I do. I did 46 laps, and posted a time of 1.24.643 on the central loop. Not bad, in my opinion. I'm sure other people are faster than that but I still think that is a good enough lap time. :)

Finally had some time to play after being stuck at work all week.

Tested Pra's Nissan GT500 tune at Sarthe, pretty easy win.

Purchased 2 Challenger's and tuned one to Pra's LM-spec. Wonderful drive, I highly recommend it. De-tuned it for Tokyo and ran some test laps, don't have the time to run a full race right now as duty calls again.

Bought the One-77 or whatever it's called and the Citroen GT Road Car. I'll have to play with these later.

Good to get back on the game!

Today I quit doing any of the wreck fest daily races. It’s pointless for me because sim not fast enough to start out front and I’m not mean enough to get out front. And my driver rating has plummeted anyway, so there’s just no incentive to keep trying. Which is a shame because last week at Watkins Glen was so much fun.
Ok, I lied. I couldn't just give up so I've been practicing laps and just plugging away. I resorted the easiest no-stop runs with the BRZ last night because I didn't even have to adjust the FM. Just ran it at 1 (with maybe a few adjustments just in case) and let the field move along. I always caught them when they pitted. It's very gentle on the tires because it's so light. I even was P1 up to the last lap in one race, but I got impatient and flubbed it. Then I turned to the 911 . . .
I posted this a couple days ago: "I am no expert but I try to get most of my braking before turning in since they're super sensitive and get back on the gas asap - even if it doesn't feel natural - as it seems to settle them down." I think they're a completely different driving style and if you're trying to trail brake the MR cars get very unstable... which is odd. But, the way I've been able to make it work was get all but off the brakes before turning in. Then, at the apex, whether it feels like you should or not, give her a tiny bit of throttle (like at least 10%) and that settles the car down and keeps it from wanting to loop around. That was working okay for me, especially on T1.

Problem then is they love to understeer trying to come out of the turns. The only ways I found was to do a quick up shift or let off the throttle some to help dip the front of the car down, then ease back on the throttle. Feel like either one is losing time, though.

PX7 Grove Street has been using the Ferrari with a no stop and winning a lot of races pretty handily. But, you can tell he's really working for it at times.

I think your last bit is key. It's such a fine line though and not as forgiving. I also mentioned this a couple of pages ago about mitigating the slide, then understeer. "If you're really good with it and can manage both of those things at the same time I suppose it would be good." Problem is, that nice slide/rotation of the car eats tires.

Ok @Talon16 , so I finally got a feel for what you were talking about with the slide, throttle, and the apex. It really is a feel thing that I had to find doing practice laps. It's very much like was discussed in my TC0 thread. In fact, almost identical in terms of throttle control and keeping a little bit open through turns, etc. I found myself actually adding throttle when I started sliding and felt how the weight shifted and how it caught the slide. Mind blowing!

Contrary to what you suggest about shifting up and off the throttle, I found myself overcoming the understeer problem by shifting down to help the nose come around, and then shifting back up. I think everyone knows this approach, and for me it works well. I'm not sure how much time I'm losing by dropping a gear going into a slow turn, but I feel like I save time by avoiding the understeer so it's a wash in the end (I hope).

So after some races today I was able to finally snag a P2 finish. I was behind, of all things, a BRZ who no-stopped like me. I'm now loving the 911! Thanks for the tips!

I collected all 433 cars in GT7.

I'm down to needing 20 more cars. So so many gift cars last week! I never was really motivated to collect them all until now.

[edit] Now I’m down to 18 after tonight’s update! I know there are a couple really expensive ones left like the Shelby Daytona, so time to start saving.

On the GTP account, I continued my re-acclimation to the grind by taking the Focus rally car to Sarthe. It was a dry race, and I decided to leave the fuel map at 6, so the win was about 22 seconds. The 5-star Wheel of Despair gave me the low-cash option of 100,000 Cr., but it was enough to buy the 4 Challenger R/T's I wanted for engine purposes.

On the Plus account, I fitted RM tires to the BRZ GT300 and headed to Lake Maggiore to try the 1-stop strategy that got me the gold in the Human Comedy event on the GTP account earlier. It took a few tries to remember and properly implement the strategy (FM1, pit lap 15 for a fresh set of RMs and fuel), but I held off a hard-charging Beauvois for the last race win there.

I felt like 007 as I took delivery of the Aston Martin DB5 (and the 1969 Fairlady Z). The feeling didn't last as the 4-star Wheel of Despair gave the lowest-possible 10,000 Cr. Time to spend some of the 10,526,168 Cr. I have and add to the 144 unique car/18 duplicates collection.

This morning did the Sardegna WTC 800 on a full-powered, fully tuned Camaro ZL1; 776.55PP, 955hp, 3104lbs weight. Did 4 pit stops for fuel, all the time using fuel map 6. Won by three seconds ahead of Portilla who only pitted once. This was on hard difficulty, and a few close calls with the barrier at the second to last hard left before the main straight.

This car is amazing, more and more I’m racing it everywhere and more I like it. I know it’s overpowered with it being close to a thousand horsepower but still weights a lot and drinks gas like a fraternity member drinks beer. Now I’ll repeat this race a few more times and then will depower my ZL1 and see if I can win it a bit more fairy this time.

But most important thing, it sure was fun really battling the AI which this time it did battle with me.

Spent all day making E30 Group A Project Cars 2 liveries. Spent time balancing the Alfa 155s, so they’d not dominate my DTM races. 309BHP/PP 623 seems like the right setting. Over 309BHP(UP to 330BHP) and it uses that AWD grip to blitz the field. However, found the Nordschliefe is its weakest track at the 309 power setting.

Today I wasted an hour proving that I'm a complete idiot. I tried to finally get the last gold mission in Lake Maggiore. Two and a half seconds ahead of P2 halfway through the final lap, I tried, probably unnecessaryly, to adjust my fuel map, in a turn BEFORE reaching the back straight. Came onto the grass and spun out.

I don't think I'll ever try that race again.

Practicing Daily B with steering wheel, managed a qualy time that put me top 5 in the following race. Dropped back so I crossed the start line in 16th, as I'm only interested in rebuilding SR right now.

Next race, slightly different crowd, but my time now put me on pole. Commented in the pre-race lobby that I'd drop to the back at the start. A few people commented that I was pole, so all I had to do was stay ahead. Dropped back anyway.

Next race I was pole. Decided to stay ahead. Got punted wide by a dive-bomb on the first left after the straight, knocking me clean across the track into the green. Rejoined the track in 5th and the penalty system smacked me with a 1 second penalty. Continued the lap with 6th trying to push me off the apex on most corners. Served my penalty and pulled over to the side until I was back in 16th. Raced from there and finished 11th.

I get the problem PD have with the penalty system - they don't want it to be so harsh, like iRacing or ACC, as that drives the more casual racers away, but with it being as weak as it is right now, a lot of racers know that punt-to-pass is a viable tactic, which just doesn't make for good racing. As the track limit penalties are very particular, it's easy to get forced wide and pick up a penalty even if you've done everything possible to avoid it (like rejoining at a crawl, so you've lost time and not gained it).

I'd personally be okay if PD flipped it back to harsh for a few weeks, just so the bad and dirty racers get punted back to the lower lobbies, leaving only those that are capable of clean racing in the higher lobbies.

Well it was an enjoyable night with a buddy of mine doing some custom races at The Glen. After that we went about our merry way completing missions on our own and such.

Started the CE at the High Speed Ring. Only thing left is to gold the one lap. I was surfing the tracks and realized that I have a lot of CE's to do... 🤣. I raced at The Glen a few times, raced once at Sardegna came in 3rd. Then went to the Dailies and raced A, B, and C. Middle of the pack in all 3. Really enjoyed Nurburgring GP, didn't think I'd enjoy it that much, that's a cool track! Ran the 911 no pit strategy. Didn't think I could do it but I did! Really wore down the tires though, came in 7th I think.

Overall as always, just a great time on GT7!! Oh, and I picked up the 1970 Plymouth Superbird or as I knew it growing up, The Roadrunner!! Now I just need to find a perfect livery for it. No, not the King's, it's overused. I was thinking of one of Ramo Stotts. We shall see!!!

On the GTP account, I burned a bit too much gas at the Sardegna WTC 800 event in my Tomahawk S on a no-stop strategy as I ran out coming to the checkered flag on lap 15 despite short-shifting the last lap and running FM6 the entire time. Still, a 1:40.9 fast lap, a 25:40 time, and all but P2-P5 lapped (on the usual normal difficulty) was well worth it, as was, at least if it can have the wide body, a second set of titanium connecting rods/pistons for the 2014 Jaguar F-type R from the 4-star Wheel of Despair. Maybe I should have made it a fair fight...nah; I'm in collection mode and I still have over 319 million Cr. worth of cars to get.

On the Plus account, I'll wait until I complete golding the Circuit Experiences I haven't before buying any more cars there. I golded the Blue Moon Infield and Daytona Infield CEs, and the 4-star Wheel of Despair gave an almost-worthless (only "almost" as I didn't already have it) full-custom computer for...wait for it...wait for it...the 2014 Jaguar F-type R. I belatedly realized I hadn't bought a second Pagani Huyara, so I did as I had an invitation.

Sometime over the last month, I got a cake and birthday cars on both accounts. The "better" (read, more expensive) car was on the GTP account, the Suzuki SUZUKI VGT. The Plus account got the (2014) Gran Turismo Red Bull X2014 Junior.

Some fun stats from the Plus account:
  • Of 213 races run in the World Circuits menu, worth 30,481,960 Cr. (of which 3,228,550 Cr. came while working through the 88 races required to complete the original 39 menu books, each enough to meet the goal the first time if not win outright, and another 1,007,000 Cr. came while winning the 9 races required to complete the 3 newer menu books):
    • 159 have been "clean" races.
    • I won 159 of the 213 (not all of them clean), including every possible race at both the individual tracks and in each championship, and 56 while working the menu books.
    • I took 2nd in 24 (21 while working the menu books).
    • I took 3rd in 21 (19 while working the menu books).
    • I took 4th in 4 (1 while working the menu books...during a championship, so I didn't have to re-run it at that point).
    • I took 5th in 2.
    • I took 7th in 2.
    • I took 8th in 1 (my worst showing).
  • Speaking of championships, worth another 1,128,000 Cr. (503,000 Cr. while working the menu books), I won 13 of the 17 I participated in, took 2nd in 2, and took 3rd in 2 (all of the 2nd's and 3rd's came while working the menu books).
  • Golding every license gave me 483,000 Cr. and 10 cars (of which 2 are awarded for doing the minimum to complete the menu books).
  • Golding every mission gave me 10,518,000 Cr. and 14 cars.
  • The 93 Wheels of Despair tickets gave out a total of 5,147,000 Cr. and 5 cars (more details in the Daily Roulette Ticket/Prize Log thread - Part 1/Part 2).
  • The Circuit Experiences, which are a work in progress, have given me 14,322,200 Cr. so far.
  • Completing the menu books and missions required the purchase of 11 cars at a cost of 2,206,952 Cr. (including a starter car that is out of the budget of those that didn't get a pre-order bonus or the 25th-anniversary edition, the 1998 Subaru Impreza at 61,500 Cr.), and the spending of 50 Cr. on a required car wash and 242,400 Cr. on required tuning to either complete a menu book or attempt a menu book race on dirt.
  • To attempt to be competitive in various races, I spent an additional 2,412,790 Cr. on tuning and 157,200 Cr. on maintenance (most of the latter was to give the aforementioned Impreza a new engine and body, as menu-book special used cars are the only ones that have any wear and tear on them coming out of the UCD).
  • In addition to the 24 cars won from the missions and licenses, 5 cars won from the Wheels of Despair, 11 cars bought so I could complete the menu books, 3 cars gifted for the "pre-order" bonus, and 1 car gifted for buying the 25th Anniversary edition, I won 72 cars from the menu books, was gifted 1 car for giving Sony a date for my birthday, and bought 46 discretionary cars for 48,284,100 Cr. The high cost is mostly because I bought 2 of each of the invite cars, and the sole 2001-2010 non-invite car I did buy came from Brand Central, not the UCD.
  • My garage has 163 cars, including 19 duplicates, at a current replacement worth of 82,437,090 Cr. That leaves 289 cars to get, at a present cost of 389,845,565 Cr.

Decided to buy a whole F1 grid worth of Super Formula cars and did a hypothetical F1 Sprint race at Fuji Speedway (22 laps). The only thing that spoils everything is the weak AI. Other than that, it was fun. I portrayed Sergio Perez in the race, starting out at the back and working my way to the front to win.

The podium was Checo, Charles Leclerc, and Fernando Alonso. Max Verstappen, the pole-sitter, dropped to fifth in the race behind Checo, Leclerc, Nando, and Carlos Sainz. Oof…😂

I also won a Jaguar F-Type Gr.3 car in the roulette today. It’s been a fantastic day! Enjoy the screenshots! Credit for the F1 liveries goes to mht-8810

I beat the stupid first eco mission that’s been taunting me for months. Hate those ones.

Already had the RX7 reward car but I hear it’s quite fun with a new donor engine.

On to Rolling Stone golds - oh god, a pass challenge at the Ring. I hate whoever designed this part of the game.

I bought the Corvette Gr.3 car and did the Watkins Glen WTC800 race completely stock, and got some interesting results.
  • Race 1: 3rd place, got three penalties (first ever race at WG, and got the obligatory 3s penalty for crossing the pit line on entry...) but I also got 2 penalties for track limits as I was pushing nearer the end of the race.
  • Race 2: 1st place, despite a spin/crash as an AI car shut the door on me as I passed them before the first chicane. Luckily I held it together and only lost a few seconds. I won the race with a total time of 19:09.xxx and Fastest Lap on Lap 10 of 1:48.7xx.
  • Race 3: 3rd place, no penalties or crashes, perfectly clean and a total time of 19:08.xxx and again a Fastest Lap on Lap 10 of 1:48.7xx... but this time, the AI didn't pit again and so I lost the race by 10 seconds.
I'm quite glad that it is not totally predictable, and that the AI behaves differently from race to race. The weather was dry for all three races, but in Race 3 it did cloud over.

I absolutely love Watkins Glen, fast becoming a favourite, and the Corvette Gr.3 really is a dream to drive around there.

I just wish there was a track temperature indicator... it's annoying because I know that this information is in the game (you can see it in the lap records in Time Trial mode) and it definitely changes your lap times etc., so it would be nice to either have some record of it, or to have some mention of it in the HUD.

Ended up having two interesting online races. Yesterday ran the daily race at Watkins Glen and decided out of morbid curiosity to run the Viper tune, unfortunately had two other people think the same thing and the car was a nightmare to drive as expected. Still finished 2nd after one of the other Vipers spun out of the last corner. Not doing that race again.

Then today ran the daily race at Nurburgring with the VGT Gr.3 Suzuki and the car wasn’t really competitive. Was running towards the back of the field nearly the whole race and had other people disconnect and found myself battling with a Mazda for 6th. Then the guy in 5th spun three times on the final lap and I passed him as the timer ran out. Good fun in the that race regardless of the fact that the top 4 were miles ahead (same with the 5th place guy until he spun).

So this afternoon after getting some groceries and finished house chores with my kids, I decided to skip my Camaro ZL1 test on Sardegna and decided to try the NSX GT500 '08 which oddly enough I haven't used it yet. Found a tune for the Spa WTC 800PP 1-hour endurance and was impressed with the car. Very stable, fast and agile. Since I didn't used it before I went kinda blind with Fuel Map 4 and when rain started after ten minutes I thought this car being so light, I can go on IM no problem. Man, I was so wrong in all levels!! Spun out almost everywhere, and honestly I spent more than a minute and a half of the whole race just doing doughnuts at the La Source like a total idiot. That wasn't water, that was oil in the surface!

But that was not the worst part. The worst part was that I WON because the freakin AI LET ME WIN the race. After almost a lap ahead of me, the #*%$@ AI just started coasting like it went on a holiday trip, and I "won" by 15 seconds ahead. Even got the CRB too. I was so mad, I went at it again no-mercy-cobra-kai style. This time on Fuel Map 1 the whole race, and when rain showed up, stopped for Full Wet tires and just kicked the AI's butt without any remorse. Stayed the rest of the race on FM1 and Full Wets, and not only I won by a whole lap but also got my dignity back.

Freakin' AI.

Continued my quest to get back to SR S by doing more Daily B and dropping to the back of the pack, racing from there. Managed a 5th to 16th to 6th followed by a 5th to 15th (someone quit in pre-race lobby) to 8th.

Respect to Ches and Brutal for making it an interesting race, making me work for the pass and keeping it clean!

Also... Finally back to SR S!

Really, really cool!!

I did some testing with my swapped Beetle and it will turn. I think I need more toe and maybe some ballast. I check the forums out to find a tune I can look at to give me some ideas to fix that. I started the WTC world championship and won the 1st race but I realized my time playing GT would end soon so I did the Trial Mountain championship to get my ticket which gave parts for a car I don't own. I bought 2 MR2 to use in swaps and Silva Qs for swap as well.
