My mind was blown when I saw this.

Look to the upper right of the steering wheel.

I do not think Lexus designers drew inspiration from the Chevy but the similarities are pretty apparent.

I'm pretty sure that when they were designing the layout of the switches and buttons and stuff, a POS Chevy did not come to mind.

To some extent the Nissan 300ZX has them as well. Only difference is on the LFA, it's some switches. On the 300ZX it's some mountains.

Yeah, that POS Chevy...

Which beats a Supra.

I read an article in popular science the other day where a few experts (including former GM employees) were asked and they said that GM has the poorest engineering of any western or Japanese automobile manufacturer.

I think I would only take 2 cars over an LF-A. Zonda F and Mclaren F1. I adore the big Lexus.

And how is pretty obviously modified Chevrolet Beretta relevant to this thread? And the steering wheel trait seems to have been used in pretty many applications. Somehow... Nice find.

Cause that was stock...

Don't worry, he just can't stand anyone making fun of something from the good ole' US of A.

It seems this was fairly popular in Japanese cars back in the early 90's. Probably earlier than that.

Pretty sure the side-knobby thing came from Japan to begin with, and the domestic companies copied it because it was simple and intuitive. I prefer my FC's auxiliary controls to every other car that I've ever driven. Everything is at my fingertips, within plain view, and easily manipulated with either my fingers or thick winter gloves.

Plagiarism? lol. Japan, America, and Germany have very different concepts of what luxury and performance are. I doubt Lexus was trying to copy Chevy. There have been studies done about this "accounting for taste" of different countries. If anything nowadays the Americans while have a distinct style(muscle car Ford GT,Challenger,Camaro). All other models seem to try to imitate the europeans and japanese. The new Cadillac ATS is a classic example copying the M3 to a certain extent. The identical supension and steering rack of the M3 and this new ATS is downright uncanny.

Your sarcasm radar must be malfunctioning.

Better than any foreign car though.

Wait, forgive me for being slow, but what car is better than a foreign car?

If your talking about the Chevy, well explain how they only got 160 something horsepower out of a 3.1L, while Japanese cars at that time were getting 276 Limited out of a 2.6L? Or the fact that the build quality is about as good as, well there's nothing really to compare it to, besides saying it's just not good. And reliability isn't too great either. Anyway, it's not like any Chevy anymore is actually domestic. Most of the parts come from some other country, and are just assembled here in the states. So, those "Foreign" cars, are also your precious Baretta.

Just don't bother. Those 2 appear to be all about, "MURICA!"....

The funny thing isn't how this lighthearted thread made just for fun has turned into another SRSBSNS "'Merica versus the world" mud slinging contest.

No. The funny thing is that people seem to think that the Chevrolet Beretta is the car to pick this fight over. Not the Corvette. Not the Viper. Not the Mustang. Not even a Cadillac. The CHEVROLET BERETTA! What the hell is wrong with you people?

You know I also see they had the audacity to use a similar tachometer and the same shape of steering wheel.

But seriously, I am not seeing the point of this thread continuing.
