DS3.

Don't really have the space for a proper wheel and seat set up.:grumpy:

Nor the cash.:ouch:

Nor the time to enjoy it.:guilty:

Same boat my friend. I earn pittance. Have a tiny bedroom. Work weeks and busy weekends. I don't see why I'd spend a months money on a wheel to not play it and stub my toe every time I go to pee.

Pretty pointless for you to post your answer twice in the same thread for the sole purpose of using your second post as an excuse to take another one of your cheap digs at me. Grow up my friend and forget about the past, I have.

Stop quoting me and telling me what to do. Your not a moderator.

If you feel that I make two posts in the same thread and you have issues with that, please contact a moderator.
But please be aware, not every post I make has hidden messages for you.
Your not that important.....

EDIT: Looking up my old post, yeah seems my brain is in-sync with how I post. Memory lacked of cells to remember I already posted it. Damn, more luck next time!

When I first started playing GT5 I used the ds3. Then after a few months I started to get some hand cramps so then I got a DFGT and I cannot and will not go back to a controller. If the wheel I got craps out then I will buy another one pronto, or upgrade to the G27. I've heard good things about that wheel.

Well, I just logged a few hours with my new DFGT I received in the mail from Nissan. I must say that I am VERY impressed. The build quality is a lot better than what I was expecting. If this is one if the budget wheels, then those high end wheels must really be something.

I'm still trying to get the hang of driving again, as to be expected. But it's coming along quickly. I'm still trying to get used to FFB, the different view (I was using follow mode with the DS3), and shifting. I tried using MT with the controller, but it didn't feel as natural as the stick in my Mustang so I usually went AT until recently. The slap shift style stick on the wheel and the lack of a clutch pedal still isn't like my car, but it's a lot more realistic than the L2/R2 buttons.

I'm hoping it won't take long so I can get back to competing online. I really don't want to muck up anyone else's fun, so I'm being respectful of other gamers by staying the eff out of the lobbies for now.

However, because I'm using the cockpit view now, I'm starting to see what all the hubbub is about with Premium cars. The lack of interior detail makes a bug difference with realism.

But all in all, I love the wheel. I hope I never have to go back.

You got your wheel from Nissan? They don't make them :odd:.

I won the Grand Prize during the GT Academy Twitter viewing party Nissan and GTPlanet hosted during the final episode. Nissan sent it to me via Amazon. It's not a special Nissan edition, just the one anybody can buy. I was just giving props to them...Maybe a shameless name drop too. Haha.

I envy all your guys with a wheel. Space and family (my small children) mean its not practical at the moment. I do look forward to the day - maybe GT6 perhaps! I also look forward to reducing my lap times - though I'm very chuffed at completing gold in all the events on The Grand Tour with a DS3! I think it might help gold some of those really awkward licences - 11 silvers to convert!!

I have only used the ps controller. Used a wheel once did not really like it.

It took me a couple of hard driving weeks to get into the wheel, I was level 36 when I bought it, so plenty of DS3 km behind me! I can and occasionally do drive lower pp value cars with the DS3 but for real power and tracks like the Nordschleife the wheel is great.

G25 with playseat Evolution.
Bought it especially for GT5, but due to the long wait I used it on Prologue too ;)
Haven't raced anything with controller since.

Congrats on your new wheel. I think you will really like it, once you get used to it. My only recommendation is to experiment with the settings to determine what works best for you.

There are fast drivers with either, although I suspect the fastest use a wheel. I've used a wheel since the early 90's, and would be totally lost with a controller.

I have and use both, but I only really use my wheel for serious races, of which I don't do a lot these days.

Normally it's just so much more convenient to use a DS3, I'm more consistent with it too. So that's what I voted for.

I use my DS3 if I'm racing for serious or doing seasonal TT's and I use my G27 with the clutch if I'm racing for fun or cruising in a cruise lobby :)

i use my ds3.

cannot stand the stupid amount of force feedback (eveon on 1) the DFGT has.

game is sposed to be a real life driving sim. far friggin from it with that stupid wheel lol

i think mine must be broken

Congratulations on winning the prize, I'm glad it went to someone who didn't already have a wheel.

I'm happy to see you ordered a proper stand, having a secure mount is really important in getting the full effect of a wheel. I struggled at first with a quite weak sewing table, and had to turn down the Force FeedBack to 2 so the table wouldn't jump around. My next upgrade was some weights stacked on the table which allowed me to increase the FFB to 5. I noticed right away after adding more FFB how much better I drove. Having finally upgraded to a proper stand, I'm once again enjoying the added immersion and feel from turning up the FFB.

My current setup is a DFGT mounted to an Omega wheelstand. If you ever find yourself wishing the shifters on the wheel were paddles, I suggest getting the Granturgismo paddles, they've worked well for me.

Used DS(1,2,3) for all Gran Turismo games, then I got around buying a G27 for my GT5 last year...

Im never going back! :dopey:

Same thing I did. I got my G27 about 2 months after gt5 release. It is a learning curve with the wheel but the more you use them the more natural it becomes.

I used the DS3 for a year before upgrading to a Logitech G27 mounted on a Playseat WRC. Going to upgrade to a Thrustmaster T500 and shifter as soon as I feel comfortable that my economy can support it.

I'm getting a G27 for X-MAS, and I'm quite exited about it. The only reason that I got a G27 instead of a DFGT was that the G27 was only 50 more bucks, and a much better wheel.

I needed to change the DS3 into something more fun, so I'm happy to have G27 baby!!! Makes the games more exciting.

I do own a DFGT and the Wheel Stand Pro. But as i cant leave it set up all the time, (due to lack of space, and the mrs bugging me....lol), i just use the DS3 for now. We plan on selling up and moving south into a bigger home in the new year. So maybe then i can get it set back up, and leave it up for good. I do prefer the feeling of playing GT5 with a wheel, but the DS3 isnt that bad at all actually.

AngloAmerican

I have owned a G25 since the release of GT5 Prologue and can honestly say it has made the Gran Turismo series far more enjoyable for me. It is really a great investment and a must for anyone looking for that extra realism from the game.

This is almost my exact same experience. But I'll go through stretches where I leave it up for a couple days and just work around it, occasionally. Need to get another TV in the other room so I can leave it up without getting in the way.

I really injoy my wheel and i find it so strange going back to a controller after having a wheel. All i would say to people which have just bought a wheel is just stick with it u will get used to the feel of it and start to drive with a very smooth racing style.

My G25 is still powering on:tup:
I shake my head sometimes and wonder why all things can not be made like this. Then I remember CONSUMERISM.:ouch:

I think of buying a wheel (a better one)
I'm currently using a Logitech Driving Force EX,
and i think of buying a G25
