i just got mine on thursday for my high school graduation and as an early birthday present...and i gotta say, i'm loving it. but i hate windows more than ever now since winxp pro doesn't recognize my usb2.0 ports properly. soooo, i'm slowly transferring my minimal 18 gigs of music at an alarmlingly slow 1.1 mb/second :'(. that compared to the 50+megs/second that usb2.0 is supposed to handle.

but...looking at my ipod...i gotta say, it's the most sexy piece of electronic equipment i've ever owned. it's just a beautiful design...not to mention it's almost the same size as my cell phone (about half an inch wider).

the headphones that came with the sucker are the best earbuds u could hope for, and the amp on the ipod can go deafeningly loud if you want it to. combine that with a noteviewer (to read text files), calendar utility, alarm clock, games, an equaliser i haven't had time to play with, and normalizer...u gotta love this thing. oooh, and the backlight is so bright, u can almost use it as a flashlight.

The headphones on the iPod are supposed to suck horribly. Go out and get a decent pair. No one gives you good heaphones with audio devices.

I have an ARCHOS MP3 jukebox. It holds 20 GB of music. I replaced the firmware with better opensource firmware @ http://rockbox.haxx.se and this improved it tremendously.

It was good when I bought it, but there are much better MP3 players out there like yours.

actually...in comparison to my sony earbuds (they were better than the ones that come with the Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen)...these rock them. i already spent $600 on the ipod, $30 on the usb connector, and possibly another $60 on a firewire card for my laptop (all canadian dollars) if ibm can't fix my usb issues. i'd love better earphones...i'm actually looking at a pair of sennheisers, but i spent so much on the sucker as is, so i'll wait on the earphones. quality isn't exactly noticeable on subways anyways
 
I'm getting a pair of Grado S80s soon. I've read some reviews and they are the absolute best headphones for the price. No one even comes close. They retail for about 95 USD, but I've seen them for about 80 USD
 
Basic whitebread sony walkman. $50 dolla, don't you holla.

I think im going to buy a minidisc player becuase I heard how good they are for the money. And that RCA one that uses a 128mb memory stick that puts 4hrs of music for $80 bucks.

I don't know what to go for...Any advice?
 
md player holds 90 minutes of music per disk but it has interchangeable disks that sell for 10 bucks a pop. rca holds 4 hours (varies on mp3 quality) of music but i'm assuming u can put bigger memory cards into it? a 256 meg Compact Flash card runs for about 80 bucks (canadian) rite now so...it's ur choice man.

oh, and the mp3 player is significantly smaller. if you look around, u'll see them the size of a pencap with more or less the same capacity
 
i bought an ipod at the end of summer. it is the best gadget to have imo, especially if you smoke a lot of pot. hahahha.

the earbuds that came with the ipod actually sound pretty good. but the left driver blew out within a couple weeks, and now the right one is just as horrible when you turn it up.

i bought a pair of sennheiser 280 pro's a month ago. i was looking for the ultimate, and this is the best any place around me had. They are pretty good, but i think im going to get some 580's off ebay with a portable amp, mmmmmmmmm.

the 280s were 100. the 580s are aon ebay for 120-150 i think. for the best sound you need a protable amp (maybe $80), but this setup is supposed to sound amazing. besides ive learned how much difference a clean powersource can make to audio, with my car.

i had to use musicmatch before i bought my powerbook, but now i just use itunes. musicmatch was so confusing, unstable, and limiting. now it looks like itunes comes in a windows version. i suggest trying to get your hands on it. apple software works with the ipod much better than that musicmatch ****.
 
i'm using ephpod...i don't like the ipod marrying to my laptop and not letting me transfer music from my desktop machine

my last post for tonite...
no need to laugh...i was saving for EIGHT MONTHS to get ipod even though my pc desparately needs a new PSU right now. then my parents bought it for me as a present...now, i got a pile of saved money and have mostly gotten my PSU running safely. so that'll go towards an overhaul of my pc in the summer

oh...since it's what do u listen to music on, my pc speakers are as follows
altec lansing 500b (it's their base 4.1 system)

in the end, they got AMAZING quality for the 50 bucks i spent on them last year. the bass is deep...but it's shake the table andhalf the basement deep...not pound ur chest and make ur body REALLY feel the bass deep like the Klipsch Promedia 5.1's i wish i could afford.

Granted it's a bit small, but on a Win2K, XP machine it needs no software whatsoever to use. You just plug it into the USB port and it recognises it as a removable disk, which can also store files. So it's pretty nifty.

I also have a Sony LP minidisk player which you can either double or quadruple the recording time. Although the quadruple setting doesn't sound very good, so I usually put the thing on double. Only thing is it's a pain in the arse to record things onto.
 
I believe in good old fashioned Hi-fi sound quality. So i listen on a Sony Fhb1900 Hifi system. More importantly for the loud stuff, I have Sennheiser headphones, which last time I checked, retailed for about $200.

Depends. At home, I use my computer for, uh, all my stuff on the computer, and if I want to say, play games and listen to music at the same time. For CD's I use my Sherwood reciever, hooked up to a pair of 5 year old RCA 5 1/4" speakers, and an even older 10" sub.

Not at home I use my Panasonic CD player. I've had it for 3-4 years, broken it apart 5 or 6 times, and it still works good.

Mini-None! The JVC head deck was stolen while the car was parked at mums work, now theres 2 JVC 3-ways sitting on the rear parcel shelf, doing nothing!

Mostly on my laptop through a external HD and played though Winamp 2.90. At home I have my laptop conncected to my stereo which is a collection of a receiver and 4 speakers.

I have an iPod too, you should get a FireWire card, emad! I don't like the traditional walkman-ish headphones, whilst iPodding at home I wear Sony MDRV700 headphones.

I often just listen to the radio through my cell phone when away from home.

At home we have several sound systems, which I never use. It's pretty much either iPod or desktop.
 
I have a 200 watt Technics Amp, Phillips 5 disc cd changer, and 15 Inch Subwoffers, 3X7 Inch Horn Tweeters and 4 Inch Midrange Merak speakers. :D
