What is your alcoholic beverage of choice...?

Mine is rum

There is a "GTP Drink" thread, I believe.

I'm a simple beer man myself. Fave would have to be MGD in a bottle.

Course my favorite alco beverage (that I only drink every so often) is Apple Pie. Apple juice, apple cider, cinammon, and everclear. :D

I'm fairly certain MGD isn't beer.

Beer, usually. For those times when you need more, vodka or whiskey; it depends on the time of day.

Your poll is missing "all of the above" :sly:

Bourbon and Scotch are both whiskey, just made in different places with slightly differing methods and ingredients.

Guinness of course is a beer. Maybe you could have a 'lager beer', 'stout or porter beer' and 'ale beer' option. Of course, most people consider a beer, just a beer.

Also missing wine, which is a hugely broad category....

I enjoy gin on occasion, myself. That should be on the poll.

This could probably be combined with the existing drink thread.

Whether I'm just having a drink at home or out with my friends I'll only drink beer, pretty much. I really just can't stand the taste of most other drinks. But if I've had a little too much to drink I might find myself downing a shot of Jager...

Gin should be up there, but I had to vote for vodka. It's such a versatile mixer, and the quality ones are good on their own. Truly the jack of all trades of getting slammed. I don't think I'll ever get sick of it.

Frankly, I got sick of getting slammed in and of itself after about a year of doing it once a week. It's just so damn boring after a while. Though I do enjoy a nice buzz now and again, and a decent slamming once a year or so.

Guinness is a stout. They are darker beers made out of roasted malts or barley. The term beer is a generic term covering anything brewed by fermenting starches. Really are tonnes of different ways of production.

I cringe when I hear people say, "A beer is a beer."

Me, I prefer ales.

I found that vodka was great for getting slammed and nothing else. I "augmented" my lager-drinking regime with regular (i.e. every round) double-vodka-and-limes, and it was spectacularly effective in rendering every Friday night as blurred as the previous one.

Now I drink lager pretty much exclusively, but I'm drinking in a week what I used to drink every night, and that's without the vodka augmentation.

Right you are, but I get the feeling you're correcting me on something I don't feel I got wrong? Guinness is a stout, which is a beer. I suggested an option for "stout or porter beer". Some people prefer lighter beers, while some prefer darker.

My only point was having a poll option for "beer" and another for "Guinness" is like having a poll options for "sports car" and "Porsche".

Although I quoted you, my post wasn't directed at you. We shall call it friendly fire-posting.

Your point in that post is very valid. If you were to have beer as a category. You'd have something like:

Beer
Whiskey
Vodka's
Liquor's, etc.

If you want to split it into a finer selection (which would make for a better poll) you'd want to use the different sub-categories of beer.

Guinness is not a beer, its a meal in a glass:sly:i voted not a drinker, because i am off the drink two years now..

Actually, it's ironic because Guinness is the only beer I can drink anymore, without needing a front-mounted radiator on my face.

Aging isn't always fun.

Of course using the same beverage every week solely as a tool to get drunk will wear out. I guess it's like that with everything, I'm over amarettos and many rum drinks because I've just gotten bored of them.

I've been drinking vodka for longer than any of the above and it's still what I buy when I'm not feeling creative (then it's another story, better shared in the other drink thread). `

 10-4.

Yeah, I can see needing 2 or 3 sub-categories for something as diverse as beer. Wine as well. For example, I know several 'wine-people' who do not enjoy sake, which is also wine.

I've been drinking a lot of wheat beers like Hoegaarden and Paulander Weiss Gold this fall, myself. Completely different taste profile than a stout, but I get the same 'meal in a bottle' sense of satisfaction.

Yes sir, majored in Guinness as a Food Group in college myself. Congrats on staying dry.

I chose Rum as Mojito's are usually made with it.
But I add a twist (when the bartender lets me) and make it a Vodka Mojito :D
Dr.Jager used to be my friend but let him go as our friendship was running out of course! :D

So the real question: Do you have you drink before, during, or after a good game of GT5P?

Of course using the same beverage every week solely as a tool to get drunk will wear out.

I didn't use vodka that way. I used everything from vodka to bourbon to gin to tequila, plus lots of cheap Stroh's longnecks. Drinking to drunkenness itself is what got tiresome and dull.

I'm glad you have a 'don't drink' option. Some of us are scarred for life...

I must say its a pretty poor pole, but it just so happens my favorite drinkis in fact on it :D Jagermeister

I went for beer, but only because Larger isn't on the list.

I would at one point drink anything and my top tipple was JD and Coke but that made me throw up on my first ever photography lesson at uni all over the floor in front of the tutor :D since then I cant touch the stuff without feeling ill.

Now I just stick to Corona and pints of Stella. I do like a glass of wine now and again. To be honest I haven't had more than one pint for over a year so you could say my drinking isnt what it used to be, especially at uni.

in all honesty i can hardly stomach arrogant bastard.

and i really just get whatever is on sale at Safeway.
