I think that the SLS AMG is the best because it has brilliant handling (when tuned right) but it can also offer a challenge if you want it to

Define 'Supercar'.

The McLaren F1 would definitely be my favourite, but I don't really see it as a super car - its more like a highly focused sports car.
The F40 would be my next option, I think this fits better into the super car class than the F1.

As for modern I really like the SLS as you've said.

 I STILL bust up laughing when I see that.

There is no one answer to you question because everyone's opinion will be different. It would have been much better to have a poll asking 'What is your favorite supercar?' and list all of the supercars.

Has to be the Lambo Aventador, or the Murcialago LP670-4 SV. However the Nissan GT-R Black Edition can keep up no problem at all and is the car I would buy.

Agree with above posts. We need to define "Super Car." For me, Super Car is different than "Exotic." This is how I categorize cars:

A Super Car in my point of view, is a car that has been made to break all the limits of performance leaving behind luxury, efficiency and practicality. SOME (not all) of these are not even street legal. A good example of these could be the Dodge Viper ACR or the more extreme Viper ACR-X. The Saleen S7, Mostler MT900 and Pagani Zonda R. In very rare cases the practicality has been taken care of, making them more then a fair daily drivers, just like the McLaren F1. But that's a very rare case.

An Exotic could be defined as a car that doesn't compromise anything, and it's all about high end technology and features. These cars might exhibit flamboyant design, rediculous amounts of horsepower, or extremely unefficient engines. In some of these, the high end luxury and comfort features makes them great daily drivers. A good example of this might be the Bugatti Veyron or the Mercedes Benz SL65 AMG. Others might sacrifice a bit of luxury for performance like the Lamborghini Murcielago. And some have evolved thier driveablility thanks to technology, leaving them between the Exotic and Super Car category. Example, the Lamborghini Aventador. Their prize is in most cases far beyond what the car might deliver and it's just based on how rare the car can be like with the Lexus LFA.

There could also be another category which I like to think of as Specialized Sports Cars. These cars are somewhat accessible to the general public(in some cases) asince they can be based from really cheap economy cars as the Honda Civic to luxury sedans as the BMW 5 Series. These make also great daily drivers as most of them are based on regular models, though they might also sacrifice comfort and effeciency for performance. Example: BMW M5, BMW M3, Dodge Viper SRT/10, Corvette ZO6, Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari California, Mercedes Benz SL55, Mercedes Benz C63, Lotus Esprit, Honda Civic Type R, Ford Focus RS, Nissan Fairlady Z, Nissan Skyline, Lexus IS-F, Nissan GTR.

Another category would clasify as Purist Sports Cars. These cars do things the wrong way for good reasons. Luxury is not their strength, comfort is not an option, efficiency and durability is not the most important aspect either. Safety is a joke. Their performance is often way below what their numbers might suggest in some cases, and in some they might be faster than one might think though demanding the driver more than he might be able to acheive. But these are probably the most enjoyable sports cars. Examples might be all the TVR models, the Lotus Elise and the old Ruf models.

So my favorites would be:

Super Car: Dodge Viper ACR
Exotic: None really. If the electric Citroen GT would be real, then I would consider it.
Specialized Sports Car: BMW M5 and most M models, most AMG's and some Audis RS models.
Purist Sports Cars: Ruf BTR, TVR Tuscan.

Note that my method of classifying cars is not very exact and some cars might be stuck between categories.

Heavily depends on which track your racing on. None of those cars will touch my Ferrari Enzo at Daytona Super speedway.

This is how each of these cars are categorized.

Supercars: Bugatti Veyron, McLaren F1, Saleen S7, Viper ACR
Exotic Cars: Lamborghini Aventador, Murcielago, Ferrari F40, F50, Enzo
Sport Cars: Corvette ZR1, Z06, Dodge Viper, Lexus LFA, Acura NSX, RUF CTR, BTR, TVR Tuscan
Grand Tourer: Mercedes SLR, SLS, Ferrari 599, Ferrari California
Sport Sedans: BMW's, Audis, Mercedes, Lexus

Nope, supercar, exotic, hypercar. At the end of the day its the same category

True, they are all still considered "sports cars". The term 'Supercar' is used mainly to describe the expensive high end of the 'sports car' category.

Supercar=cars we dream of ha,hence why we bought GT

Exotic= cars you may see once a month randomly driving around

Sports cars= cars you see rather frequantly and you lust for, maybe you could swing monthly payments, but your eating ramen for 3 meals

Yes, you are absolutely right. I know my method of categorizing is not the correct one as I mentioned below my post since I think of performance vs price vs efficiency and type of equipment instead of the body, but I rather stick to it.

I noticed that many consider the 599, SLS and SLR Grand Tourers, but a Grand Tourer is quite difficult to categorize. For most, a GT is actually a luxury two door 2+2 coupe. For others, a 2 seater high end coupe could be also be considered a GT. Speaking of Ferrari, I would take more in consideration the 456M, 612 Scaglietti, California (like you mentioned) and FF as authentic Grand Tourers.

In the end, I think that categorizing a car has become very difficult in the last decades with all the parts sharing, cross-overs and many variations of one model, sometimes even going as far as being shared by two or three different manufacturers.

Exactly. This is more like I see it 👍

Agreed x10

I think it's a subjective thing, as the lines are too blurred. Personally I would categorise Hypercars (very few of these, but include the Veyron, F1, Speed 12, S7 in GT5) then Supercars (pretty wide category but most cars that'll top 200MPH and break under 4 seconds 0-60) then exotics (180MPH+, the likes of the Spyker, Alfa 8C, TVR Tuscan etc) then come the sports cars (slower but still made to get around a track quickly, rather than pick up the groceries)

Aside from this there are Grand Tourers and Sports Sedans etc. which straddle the performance bands of the above.

But like I said, there is so much room for argument and contention, ultimately there are Cars and any classification, as is the case with so many other things, can be very subjective =)

^These two posts +1000000000

That how I categorize and distinguish between supercars and Exotic/Hypercars and other types of cars. So my choices are here of supercars:

McLaren F1

Ferarri F40

Lamborghini Mucielago LP670 SV

Pagani Zonda R

Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

These are the choice IMHO, are true supercars.

Actually Black Box for me I'm referring to NFS The Run but I just post my opinion of what my favorite car is not too concern on what car goes in what category

I have seen maybe a dozen Ferrari's in my lifetime on the streets, and when I hear "exotic" that is the first brand that comes to mind. Where on earth do people see them once a month? Unless maybe someone who lives near you has one, and you see them drive it once a month?

*edit* - I would have to name the Corvette ZR1 as my favorite super car, and the ENZO as my favorite exotic car.

Let me start by agreeing with whoever stated they are all sports cars, but I see them in different degrees that can be summed up by simple definitions.

EXOTIC- Intriguingly unusual or different; excitingly strange and/or rare.
Ex: Bugatti Veyron, Enzo, Avendator, XJ220, Pagoni Zonda just to name a few.
These exotic sports cars are the benchmark for top rate performance, some comforts, and boat loads of technology to trickle down to lesser cars. They offer the exclusivity and rarity that other cars cannot, therefore demanding some of the highest values/prices. Exclusivity and performance benchmarking is the point of an Exotic. General cost: $500k+

HYPER- 1. Having a very excitable or nervous temperament; high-strung.
Examples: Saleen S7, F40, Mclaren F1, Mosler MT900.
Hyper exotic sports cars are purpose built ones that carry the same exclusivity and sometimes price, but with one main focus: outright performance while sacrificing some civility. Light weight, obscene horsepower, and grip on the edge of racecar, defines a Hypercar. General Cost: $300k+

SUPER- adj.
1. Very large, great, or extreme
2. Excellent; first-rate
Super Cars for me, over excel in every category or test it performs; performance, handling, speed, comfort, usability, and affordability. These are practical sports cars compared to exotics, that perform well beyond what their price tags would suggest, some costing 1/2 the price of an exotic, and some like the GTR costing a 1/10 of some exotics. Most supercars barely fall short, and in some cases exceed some exotics in performance, but sacrifice the exclusivity of those unique, rare, and expensive exotic cars stated above. Supercars typically are the first ones to recieve the technologies and innovations implimented by the Exotics.
Examples: ZR1/ZO6, VIPERS(all), Porsche 911's, Nissan GTR, SLS, 458 italia, f430, Gallardo, R8, and the list goes on.
General cost: $70k-$300k

I could go further to define more sports car categories, but the question was pertaining to the best Supercar, so this is where I'll cut off.

With all that said, I'd have to say the best "Supercar" in game is the
Ferrari 458 Italia: 1/4 the price of an Enzo in game, yet out performs it and other exotics.
Best Supercar in real life:
(991) Porsche's new 911 Carrera S. everyday usability and comfort with heroic levels of performance.

Example of a supercar?

Novall's summation of Supercars is pretty much the same as mine:

SUPER- adj.
1. Very large, great, or extreme
2. Excellent; first-rate
Super Cars for me, over excel in every category or test it performs; performance, handling, speed, comfort, usability, and affordability. Although my definition of Hypercars and Exotics differs :)

But like I said, different strokes for different folks, not sure anyone can claim their definitions are "right" as the lines can blur in so many ways. Ultimately do we need to categorise them at all?

And we've digressed from the OP (partly my fault), to which I would probably answer the 458 or GTR, in GT5 and using my own definition of "Supercar" anyway, although I prefer the 458 as a driving experience (demands more driver input). I also like the Murci LP670 though by my own admission i'm not sure if I would class that as a Supercar or Hypercar, it seems kinda borderline, as historical context makes a difference too. It's been surpassed by the Aventador, just as the F40 was once a Hypercar but now I would describe it as a Supercar :)

Ok,disregard my exotic summary,im changing my tune.
Actually i have seen a lambo gallardo around, and a ferrari tesstarossa zooming around my area, and some goon has an Audi R8 which is a fantastic car,but he likes to drive it in the snow
