What does everyone here do for work?

Pete works in a warehouse, I work in a factory making flight cases. Here's one I did earlier this year.

I see those type of equipment on aircraft all the time, and part of me wishes our household had those types of wheeled cases, with lockdowns when company arrives (in case our domicile starts to bank 10 degrees) so clean-up is a snap. Kids make homes messy.

I travel the United States, training employees at automobile dealerships and service departments how to use the new (or upgraded) software they just bought. Lots of travel, get to take pictures, but little in the way of free time at most locations, so I can be home to be with the wife and kids on the weekends.

Do I need to post in the Ludicrous Claims thread?

He's 20, according to his profile.

Kind of like saying I test aircraft because I sit in the seats and try out the overhead bins...it's sort of true.

Seems to fit with a test driver. Agree he could show some more proof, like the one that designed the livery of a car and just linked to the press article when asked.

I'm a Unix System Administrator for about 3 years now and work mostly with Solaris and Sun/Oracle hardware.

I'm now working in a warehouse for a company that distributes electrical components and cable ties. We're the biggest manufacturer of cable markers in the world, and the company is constantly expanding. We get treated really well since it's a fairly small company, and even though I currently only do the picking and packing of orders I've been promised forklift training which I can't wait for :)

If anyone here does electrical work in the UK and uses cable markers, they've probably been ours!

I'm a Clinical IT System Manager. Basically I'm system admin for IT systems for the Health Service - Patient Admin Systems (for booking appointments, managing waiting lists etc.), order comms (blodd/ urine / whatever test requesting and results), operating theatre management systems, trauma nd ortho list management and so on.

It's quite interesting work and I get to see some cool stuff (I sometimes get to hang around operating theatres - it's nothing like you've seen on TV) but it does carry some responsibility. Getting things wong has the potential to kill someone.

Sounds like we do essentially the same thing. Do you work with the Cerner suite by chance?

So were you wanting cases to keep your things safe, or ones to actually put the messy kids in to? That could be arranged! :)

I could even install an air vent, if you thought one was necessary. 💡

I'm an athletic trainer(sports medicine) for a rural Hospital and High School in western Wisconsin. It's a fun job with really great hours. I even worked for NFL Europe as an athletic trainer way back in 2006.

Still a university student.. I have to survive two and a half more years, still. But I'm getting there!

Tattoo Artist. My father has done it for nearly 20 years so I've been around it all my life. Because of that my entire childhood was sort of my apprenticeship. I knew how to do everything BUT tattoo by the time I was 15. I've been committed to actually tattooing for the past 2 years and feel I've come a long way, and I'm looking forward to being able to say I've been doing it for 5, 10, 20 years hopefully.

3 years now.

Monday to Friday, I'm a hardware engineer designing (well, correcting) components / assemblies for full flight aircraft simulators. Would love to say it involves me testing aircraft sims, but although I've flown a few and know the basics, its a desk job.... Technically not an apprentice anymore, but still do a college course alongside this as well.

On Saturdays though, I'm a race instructor for a formula 1 simulator centre :sly: Mainly involves doing a briefing for new drivers (99% of customers on a Saturday) and helping with the driving in car and between sessions.

Military been in 6 years spent 3 years in Iraq.. good times bad times... live in Japan.. Happy getting out to live here to continue my D1 drifting career.

Working for Target about 4 years now/ Working on a IT certificate.
We have alot of ITs on this site...

While I'm not in the UK what's the company/brand name of the markers?
I'd hate to think of how many bazillion markers I've used in my working life.

Cheers Shaun.

Oh on topic I'm an Electrician.

I help manage the risk capital and funding for a division of an investment back. Before that, I was a management consultant focusing on what else - risk :dunce:.

Now I work at UVEX Saftey, Technical Sales Rep for Central Queensland!

We provide safety equipment to all the big mines out in this area.

I just love reading through this thread and seeing the changes in the long term members, especially those of us who "grew up" on this site :D

To all those involved, how's IT working out for you? Seems like an interesting (and popular) career path choice.

I'm an MDSA (Mid-Day Supervisory Assistant) at the school I graduated from last year. I stand by one of the school gates at lunchtime for 40 minutes a day and make sure that only staff members or sixth formers go in or out. Most students mistake fore a paedophile and teachers were once asked to search for someone 'lurking in the alleyways with a fake staff badge' that fit my description perfectly. You think after 5 months they'd have worked out why I'm there!

During term time, I study for a degree in Business and German at the University of Bangor, Wales. Out of term time, I work in a McDonald's; it's a crap job but beggers can't be choosers and we manage to have a laugh on the evening shifts that are dead.

Almost a year on, I'm still a student at Bangor but I'm currently on my year abroad. I'm a language assistant at a school in Germany and help out with English. Been there since September, will be there until May.

Then it's back to Maccies over summer, before a final year at Bangor. After that? F knows.

I'm a self-employed Window Cleaner at the moment, before that I was an electronics engineer, before that a trainee Mechanic.

Soon to be unemployed when my visa runs out on Wednesday. Also means I have to leave the country to get a new one, if they give me a new one!

Where is this center?

I work in the service department at a Nissan dealership. After working at a grocery store for almost 3 years, it's a huge improvement. Plus, I get to see GT-Rs all the time. :D

finally got myself a job as a CNC machinist. probably thanks to me already having a freind who works there who put in a good word (or three) for me.

pay is being discussed tomorrow, bearing in mind that its an apprenticeship. probably no more than £7.00 an hour, but enough while im living at home with my parents.

these jobs usually fetch between 25-30K per year (pounds, english currency)

I presume there's a plan here?

edit: Oh, and no change here, still the advertising world's unholy overload and scourge of hipster designers trying to get home early. ;)

Sounds like you're about to be the victim of a bureaucracy attack. Good luck.
