What driving aids do you use ?

Some people just want to get up on their high horse and call anyone who plays the game differently to them noobs! I thought that kind of idiotic behaviour gets you banned.

The key word for aids is not real but "HARD", no aids means HARDER than using any of them. That means it's a preference, much like when you start a game, and choose difficulty level.

No Aids is best for me. I would rather tune out any control or stability issues I may encounter.

In LMP competitions we are allowed TCS as these aids are used in real world competition.

Comparing to the real world use is fine, but the bottom line still the same, preference. Want to make it harder on the driver, disable all aids. Want less burden and easier to handle car, use aids. That ends there.

This is gt5 not real racing.
So what. You want realism, go put aids on next time you drive a car with aids only.

Well, maybe. PD increased NASCAR difficulty by turning ASM on, which was one of the worst decisions ever made. ASM is car destroying. Then there's TCS which makes any kind of throttle steer difficult.

I agree that it's preference, but not so much about difficulty. Aids might make some cars easier to drive, but if they slow you down, they might not make racing easier.

It makes sense if I say certain aids do come with flaws, it takes away certain control and involvement in order to make it less demanding and easier on the driver part, but it also comes with certain disadvantages, SRF not included of course ;)

Does a professional driver turn off any aids allowed in his discipline that allow him to lap faster just so he can feel superior to the rest of the field using said aid even though they're faster than him or do drivers use any aids at their disposal to make them go faster?
I suppose if you were an f1 driver you wouldn't use kers or drs as they're aids, right?

What a load of CRAP!!!! F1 drivers didn't turn off Traction Control nor ABS while they were available.

I hope you are being facetious?

Exactly! I didn't mean to imply that they did, I was asking it as a question to make a point.
Point being in real life drivers use anything (within the regulations) including any aids to assist them to lap as fast as they can.

This is very true, however it does not in any way imply that if those same drivers were the ones in charge - with no outside influence - of setting what the regulations allow, that they would necessarily choose to allow all of those same things.

Oddly, the higher grip tyre, along with how unruly the car is, will determine how/what I use. A Sports Medium Yellowbird would need TCS 2-5, whilst a Gallardo on CH wouldn't need anything.

It's a matter of drivetrain, really.

No assists except in my F2007. SRF and ABS is all I prefer to use on my F2007... with all other cars, I use ABS on 1. that's it. A good tranny layout and suspension will keep even the craziest cars on the road. I can drive the Speed 12, the vertigo, most LMP cars, and the FGT on a DS3 controller with out too much trouble, but I prefer my wheel.

I'm using a G27, with only ABS and TCS set to 1. Very rarely, I'm using Skid recovery force to drive the car full beans ;)
