What games are you playing now?

Just finished Mafia, it was much better than I was expecting but I was expecting very little. Yes it had issues and the gameplay wasn't amazing, but it also was nowhere near as bad as I'd been led to believe and I enjoyed the story. I can imagine a lot of people were expecting a GTA-like but it's definitely not that.

Not sure what to move on to next, I do have Mafia 2 and 3 but I've heard they're not as good so I might skip them. Apart from that... No idea. Maybe I'll finally get into No Man's Sky?

Basically bored of everything at the moment, so I decided to go back to Bully. Adored that game back in the day on the PS2. And I bought it on PS4 a couple of years back but didn't get more than a couple of hours in. Want to finish it this time and get the platinum.
Considering my appalling record with indie games, I'm surprised I've taken a liking to Dredge (PC Game Pass) It's equal parts cozy and terrifying.
I still need to get around to finishing Dredge. lol It's easily though one of the best games I've played in the last few years. Such a pleasant surprise.

Finally defeated Black Wind King after 1.5 hours on Black Myth Wukong. It was annoying to put it mildly.
Also, Resident Evil 0- one of the most frustrating in the franchise if not the worst. Very convoluted game design.

Mouse: P.I. For Hire - A surprisingly good FPS in a classic cartoon style with a noir detective plot. And the main character is voiced brilliantly by Troy Baker. Loving this so far.

I also grabbed Pragmata but after maybe 4-6 hours I pretty much lost interest in favor of the Mouse game. Pragmata is very impressive and I enjoyed it at first but it ended up getting very repetitive and tedious due to the hacking/ shooting mechanic. Playing on Xbox is tough for me having to hack on the spot (which feels like quick-time-events) so later in the game I started fumbling more with tougher enemies. I feel like the game would be a lot easier with a mouse and keyboard as you can do the hacking much quicker with the mouse. I will revisit another time because the exploration and world is really good.

I tried the demo of Pragmata and didn't mind the girl robot part which I thought I'd hate but I didn't like the shooting bit which I thought I'd like to (Destiny 2 player) so I haven't and won't buy it.

Mafia 2 is actually a very good game.

Pragmata. It's very good.

So, based on the posts above, we can conclusively determine that Pragmata is:
1. Very good;
2. Very repetitive and tedious due to the hacking mechanic;
3. Has bits that were expected to be bad that were actually OK and bits that were expected to be good that actually weren't.

I'm glad we got that cleared up

It can be all of those things

I think those who go into the game thinking it's a standard shooter (like me) might be disappointed.
But it's no doubt a good game for those who don't mind the hacking.

Bottom line: Watch reviews or play a demo to better understand the game first.

I got both endings in Dredge. I probably expected more of the main story, but all in all, it's a fine, atmospheric, and fun little game. 8.5/10 and I'm debating whether to get the full game with its expansions.

Of late, AC EVO has replaced GT7 as my almost daily driver, until FH6 arrives.

Finished Tomb Raider 1, dont remember being able to run through one of the levels and finish it within out retrieving my guns (I had saved up so many magnum rounds) made the last level very hard.
Cant believe this game released 30 years ago, it was truly ground breaking back then.

Moved onto Tomb Taider 2, only a couple of hours in but first thing I notice is how much more combat there is compared to 1. Problem is the combat was awful for its time and it has aged horribly, so far nowhere near as good as 1.

Also still hopping on GTA5 and BF6 from time to time for the odd mission or game of conquest.

So here is Muppet Racemania:

This was a game I got for my birthday back in 2001, and I played it a lot growing up. However, in my nearly 25 years of owning it, I have mainly just bantered around and done whatever I wanted with it, either in single player or split screen, and used cheat codes so I could have just about everything, and then in recent years, I have done occasional emulation tests with it. I don't think I have ever actually sat down and played the game from start to finish as intended. I think I considered it at one point long ago and even created a save game for it, but I later had it deleted before I could make any meaningful progress.

Well, after nearly 25 years, I think it's time I finally play the game the way it's meant to be played now. Ever since I played Spyro 3 a while back, which was a game I frequently played alongside this one in my youth, it's encouraged me to come back to this one again. I think now I am going to give it a proper go! 😎
So I posted about this earlier, well, I gave it a proper go just as I said I would. And for the first time ever, after almost 25 years of owning it, I played it as intended without using any cheats, and I beat it just today! :D That said, here are some thoughts I had about the game as I played it:
  1. While I am not too into the Muppets outside of this game and don’t know how they compare to the movies, the track designs in this game do look pretty good, and I think they do a solid job at the theme they’re going for.
  2. The music in this game is very well put together, and while there are some that are “okay” at best, namely New York, Mallory Gallery, and Treasure Island, I don’t think this game has a single bad tune in it. Some of them go way harder than expected for a game like this.
  3. While I don’t know what my favorite race track is, I do know my least favorite is probably Mallory Gallery since it doesn’t have nearly enough food on it, no decent shortcuts, and the straights are just too long in my opinion. I really struggled with that one during the tournament.
  4. I wasn’t crazy about the battle mode at first, but once I got better at it, I enjoyed it. Though I don’t think I liked them as much as the races.
  5. Of all the battle maps, I think my favorite one was probably Theatre since it had a lot of food and a great place to avoid getting hit.
  6. As much as I love the look of the chamber, it’s my least favorite battle map simply because of the inconsistent elevation, making it hard to see the AI.
  7. Not a big fan of the stunt courses. The idea of doing this with a kart racer is an interesting one, and they did pretty well, but I just did not find myself enjoying them much.
  8. Speaking of stunt courses, while I can remember nearly every track in this game, and I have listened to the music to this one a lot lately, I actually had forgotten what most of Muppet Labs looked like. Not much of it looked familiar when I revisited it.
  9. While revisiting Muppet Labs was nice, it is easily my least favorite stunt course simply because it’s so tedious to navigate. If it were even half as good as the music, it’d be great.
  10. While the camera is okay most of the time, it has times when it doesn’t move the way I want it to, and it makes some things difficult as a result.
  11. As far as the collection tasks go for each, I don’t mind most of them, but I really hate having to rescue Doozer the most, simply because it’s mundane and tedious, and on some levels, it’s extremely hard to do.
  12. While I understand the bosses are a bit larger than the other characters and may not work well on some levels, I do wish they had been utilized more outside of their intended levels.
  13. Of all the bosses, Marley and Marley were the ones I had the most trouble with, and the aforementioned elevation changes in the chamber really didn’t help.
  14. While I remember all the other bosses, I have no memory of ever taking on the boss at the lagoon. Either I didn’t fight him much, or I never fought him at all, because I did not recognize him when I saw him.
  15. I must say the tournament is pretty daunting, having to earn points by doing other things besides winning. It’s made even harder by the fact that they want you to get 30 of them, and you can’t save in between races, which it should’ve had. I know one thing, though: if you wanted a challenge, this will certainly provide it because I spent hours trying to get 30 points on the race B tournament!
  16. Man, I had only raced on the disco track a handful of times, and prior to this playthrough, it had been a very long time since I had done it again. I forgot how much of an acid trip it was to race there, but it’s a fun track!
  17. I do like how you have even more bonus tracks at the credits you can race on, I just wish the main menu could be played on too, since it looks like it could be.
Overall, I had a total blast playing through this game, more so than I thought I would, and it was nice to finally see this game for what it really is after all this time! And it was a good thing too, because without saying too much, I had some unfortunate things happen shortly after I started the game, and it helped me get through them! Despite having it for so long, I really didn’t realize just how much depth this game had until now, and honestly, I kind of hate myself for not playing through it sooner, because I feel like I have missed out on what this game truly was all these years. Unlike some games from my childhood, I feel like this game has aged very well and would be a solid choice for a remake if they were to do it today.

Would I play through the entire game again? Honestly? No. It may have been fun, but the collection tasks got pretty repetitive after a while, and some of those Doozer rescues, bosses, and the tournaments didn’t help either. At one point, I nearly gave up on the tournaments, but I persevered and managed to beat them. If my save game corrupts, I am just going to use cheats to have it all done, so I don’t have to spend 33 hours or so to do it all again.

I still need to unlock all vehicles for every character, but I think I’ll save that for another time because I might get burned out if I try to do it right now. What I will do for a bit is probably just banter around and enjoy everything I have unlocked for the next few days, and I think I am going to move on to another game next week.

I should perhaps add that most of my progress was in the last three weeks though as I needed something to play between Forza Horizons. I love the way the game taunts you by putting you up against unicorn cars you could only obtain by visiting Xbox 360 booths in US chain stores in the nineties. I hope they aren't a requirement for the 100% necessary to get the Revenge Racer.

Today I played the Reset your PC game after all the troubleshooting failed to restore all network connections (the Wi-Fi adapter is not broken), sigh. Well, I finished it because it's a short game, and now I will play its expansions Reinstall and Backup the rest of the day...

Playing Halo ODST, it's... OK, I guess? It feels like a wasted opportunity, I thought it was going to be the Halo universe through the eyes of a squishy human who is weak and small, then after the opening cutscene I thought it might be a squad shooter, but in reality it's just Halo but you can't dual wield. Everything else seems to be the same. I think it's pretty funny that you play as an orbital drop shock trooper but your orbital drop goes wrong and you spend zero time shock trooping anything. It should've been called LRFF (lonely rookie finding friends).

Well, I said this, but me being the overachiever I am, I decided to do it anyway since I found a very fast means of doing so and was able to get them all in rapid succession. :P I even went through and played every level one last time and tried to top all the best times in all of them. I got all of them done except for the Arches because the time on that one is unnaturally low, and I could not for the life of me beat nor could I find any evidence of anybody actually doing it. Although I really wanted to beat it, I didn't think it was worth spending hours on in hopes I would get lucky, especially since it's not essential to the game's progression, so I let that one slide.

Now I've moved from that game since it's more or less done and dusted, and I can't find much I want to do in it anymore. So now I am back to making hybrids in GT5 again since it's been on my mind lately. Going to do that for a while, and I am hoping to get back to Star Wars Battlefront II (2005) soon, since my interest in it has been growing lately.
