Having a lot of fun with FH5 on PS5. Pre-ordering this game on the Xbox One was such a traumatic experience; I ended up selling the video game.

It is such a completely different experience on the PS5. I was kind of jaded after playing FH3 and FH4 back-to-back, and now, even though I still think they should have gone for something like Japan, the formula is still very entertaining and I can just race for fun and collect those barn finds. Much better than the crew.

Hooked on Skin Deep, love it. I just had a very fortunate pair of accidents involving wire grenades and a pirate incursion, I'd never used them before and set one up as a trap next to a piece of TNT I'd set down before I called the cat rescue pod, the pirates almost walked right past it but for some reason two of them turned around and triggered it. The resulting explosion destroyed basically the entire room, luckily I was watching from a vent and was somehow unharmed. I grabbed the skullsavers and went to dispose of them but on my way to the nearest available airlock I got a notification that one of them regenerated, so I must've missed one.

The info panel said he was standing right by the door I'd need to use to get back to where he was, so I waited a bit to see if he'd follow the bloody footprints I'd left after stepping on some of the glass left by the explosion, but he'd actually gotten stuck walking into the lost and found machine because he was too keen to check out a broken light instead of the blood, I was able to walk right by him. I could've taken the card for his ship off one of his vaporised colleagues to complete the level but instead I decided to win by killing him, so I set another wire grenade just in case, picked up the rifle I'd gotten from the cat rescue pod and dropped to carry skullsavers, stood right next to the wire grenade and shot the guy dead. As he fell he triggered the wire grenade and at the exact instant that it exploded, the game ended the level.

The level complete screen enables a free camera so I had a look to see what happened to Nina (the player character), and right next to the exploding wire grenade was a cloud of red mist and lots of indicators saying "giblet destroyed by explosion" right where I had been stood. Pretty fortunate timing!

Been playing Boltgun the last week. I have had it on my watch list for a while as I have been waiting for it to go cheap, so rather pleased it was on PS Plus this month. Quite an enjoyable blast so far, although I am nearing the end of Chapter 2 and starting to find it a little grindy at this point. I'll definitely complete it, but not sure I'll go back to it again any time soon.

Also got back into Assetto Corsa Competizione again. Takes a bit of time to get back up to speed after a few months away, but totally worth it: still one of the most rewarding racing games I have played.

The weather has been great in the UK lately so not a lot of gaming for me.

When i have been playing it's been a mixture of GT7, EA WRC, AC and ACC. All on the wheel of course.

I've just seen that Deliver at all costs is being released next week and is free on Epic so I'll be playing that on the Steam Deck as it looks like great fun and well who doesn't like a free brand new game 😎

Ridge Racer 2. In the pro tour level 21 is Ridge Racer, 22 is Ridge Racer Revolution, 23 is Rage Racer and 24 is Type 4. So the first four Ridge Racer games are all recreated in this game. After that is a bunch of two car races against boss cars.

This game is worth the asking price several times over. £7.99 you get a lot of first class arcade racing.

When Arcade Archives release the arcade version of Ridge Racer I'd be interested in how the PSP version stacks up. Do yourself a favour. Buy this game.

10 years ago, one of the best games I've played was released so I launched one of its DLC that I've not played yet. Of course, I'm talking about Gwent and now I'm prepping for the big Toussaint tournament. I might play some of its rather generous side quest later... something, something about blood and wine.

Assassins Creed Shadows

Loving it. At least as much appeal as Odyssey for me.

Playing as an Explorer Assassin in an easy mode, seeking out the seriously high level areas where a sideways glance from a guard is fatal. Started with guaranteed fatal hidden blade to polish up my stealth moves.

The world is very rich. Seasons and weather make for variations in stealth. “Shadows” is a good name. For a reason.

Finding ways to climb the rocks is a good puzzle, not as easy as the earlier recent games.

One day soon I might pursue the main quest. Maybe. Having too much fun simply opening the map up and strategizing the assassinations.

The Midnight Walk (PSVR2) - I don't play VR often but this game looked really interesting and so far I love it. It's an adventure/puzzle game set in a creepy world with a "hand-made", clay style to it. Reminds me a bit of The Nightmare Before Christmas or Little Nightmares.

Also got Doom: The Dark Ages (Xbox SX) and will give that a go later.

Still playing and being staggered at the sheer scale and scope of RDR2, it’s just mind blowing the amount of things you can do without even touching the main story and it looks simply stunning on my pc, why I waited this long to experience it I’ll never fathom and it’s getting dangerously close to both of the Last Of Us games which, in my humble opinion are the greatest games ever made, it’s astonishing and I’m nowhere near completion yet..

I couldn‘t agree more. I took a hiatus from gaming between 2014 and 2019 when I bought my PS4 Pro. RDR2 was one of the first games I played on it and I remember thinking that this felt truly next gen, like a new era of gaming. Rockstar‘s attention to detail is unmatched when it comes to open world games.

It should be even better soon for PS5 and Xbox. There are very strong rumours it will be getting a current-gen update/release in the near future, to coincide with a Switch 2 port.
