I got the idea from the thread "Games you regret getting"
Post the games that you bought, and got the most time spent and use out of it. And that you think you truly got a great game, and well worth the money.

This also may help people decide on what they want to buy next.

Well games i thought were best were...

Half-Life, and everything in that series- It is a truly well writen story, I can play the story over and over, then go play CS. It truly is one of the "Best Buys"

Battlefield Series- Lots of time spent searching the battlefields for enemy soldiers. And when it comes time to finding them, it brings you a intense fight!

SSX3- I don't know but this game is just sooo damn fun :D

Act of War: Direct Action: God i love this game, by far one of THE BEST RTS games out there, no wonder it got in the Top 10 Best of 2005!

F.E.A.R: One of the best action games! This game has such good physics, when your in a fight your heart is really beating. And when it comes to the super natural, it can really make you jump out of your seat.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit- All of the NFSHP games were sooo much fun, you now have reason to go 200mph :)

C&C- Any of them, i just love them all. When you play online, it really makes you think how you defeat the enemy, or how to defend your base.

Well there is plenty more... I'll just mention some more later.

Hmmmm, I certainly have a few that comes to mind straight away.

Lumines for the PSP - I just can't stop playing it. It's probably the most addictive game I have ever played. I can play it for hours without a break. I'm trying to reach score 999,999 in Challenge mode, but it's SOOO hard! Makes me want to play it even more. :D

FF X for the PS2 (well, pretty much VII VIII IX and X) - They have hours and hours of gamplay, even more so if you go back and re-play it again to go and do all the secrets. In FFX I've done nearly 150 hours and I still haven't even done most of the secrets! Shame, I haven't played any of them games for a while now. I should get back into them.

Gran Turismo 3 - Yeah, GT3. GT4 maybe better, but GT3 was the one I played the most. It was the first racing game I'd ever bought, so it basically taught me how to drive. If it wasn't for GT3, I don't think I'd be as good a driver as I am now.

Painkiller for PC - Yes, one of the few games that's problem-less on my PC. It's just a classic FPS where you shoot and get lots of blood and guts. It's certainly something I like. :D I keep re-playing it over and over again, and finally in the end I finished it in the hardest mode possible.

Battlefield 2 for the Xbox 360 (coming out in about a week's time!) - I haven't got it yet, but I have the demo and it's probably the most played demo ever. :D I can't put it down! If I like the demo, I'm sure I will play the main game over and over again and really enjoy it.

Well. I'm gonna say it: the GT series. I think I've spent 75% of my entire time playing games(since before having my own system) playing GT. It's not that it's addictive, it's submersive. It's almost become part of who I am.....and it's only a videogame. At times, I'd rather not be elsewhere, other than glued to my tv.

Truly an exceptional thing. Or I am just a sad individual.

Lets see:

The Pro Evolution Soccer series. Without doubt the best soccer games ever and i still play it every day.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time (N64). I really loved that game, shame i don't have my N64 anymore :(

GTA: Vice City. I loved it, such a cool game. I enjoyed building my own porno empire etc.

Shenmue (Dreamcast). I wouldn't be suprised if no one here's played it but i really liked it and played through it a good few times.

I think that's it.

Since I haven't really been a gamer up until now it takes a lot for me to want to play it much less buy it for that matter.

The GT series has been the only real game that I've constantly played from it's inception untill they die out.

Other games that have been pretty satisfing are...

F.E.A.R.
Killzone
GTR

GT1, 2 and 3 (not really played 4 as much as the rest)
TOCA 1 and 2
V-Rally
Grand Prix 4
Formula 1 '97
Minesweeper (didn't pay for it, but I do play it a lot)

Can't really think of many others at the moment.

Hmm, good topic:D

Half life 2: Loved it, one of very few FPS games i have played through too the end and loved.

Pro evo 4: You rarely score the same goal twice, it just wants to be constantly played time and time again.

GT3: Like James said, GT4 may be better but i spent more time on GT3first racing game i had on ps2.

WRC3: So many stages, so many difficulties, it just keeps on going and i still go backt o it a lot.

Oh! How can I forget V-Rally 2! <3

Diablo II - I've played through that game so many times it's almost stupid. Every character, even the Lord of Destruction expansion.

Forza - Almost a year old and it's still in the Xbox

Knights of the Old Republic I & II - Played through the first one 3 times and the second one twice.

GT3 (PS2)
Half Life (PC) (All of them)
F.E.A.R. (PC)
Battlefield 2 (PC)
Halo 2 (Xbox) - My friends and I still have Halo nights.
Demolition Derby 2 (PS1) - I still play this game.
Twisted Metal 2 (PS1) - Must find this game again.
Tomb Raider: Legend (PC) - Just played the demo, can tell I'm going to spend alot of time with this one when it comes out.
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (PS1)
Live for Speed (PC) - Best racing game.

BlazinXtreme
Diablo II - I've played through that game so many times it's almost stupid. Every character, even the Lord of Destruction expansion.
Ahhh, yes! The classic Diablo 2! That's got to be one of my most played games ever, even though I never even bought it. The graphics are too dated now for me to like it again. :(

live for speed...i payed 36 euro for stage 1 and 2, and i have been playing it for over three years now...and before i bought it, i played the free demo for a whole year...

I agree with the diablo 2 comments. I still fire it up every once in a while to keep my 86 sorc from being deleted.

On a similar note WOW is the friggin best game ever. Its pretty much DII in true 3d and in the warcraft world. As I play I realize how much they've recycled from DII, alot of voices, the change sound when you buy or sell something, the thing on the right that shows you the damage on your equipment. And unlike DII its much better balanced and the battle grounds are amazing. They even brought in some of the pieces from DII like wirt's leg and the cow king's hide.

GT4 - I put at least a hundred hours into that game.

Star Wars Battlefront II - Awesome game, it's something I play for at least an hour every single day. Nothing like shooting Ewoks with your shotgun. :D

Star Wars KoTOR I - Possibly my second most played game, played through it 2 and a half times (never really cared for the second KoTOR).

The Whole Pokemon Series
- Oh boy, I remember putting 180 hours into the Yellow version by itself. But I gave it up a few years ago; it was a drug. Caused mood swings, played it when I woke up, played it when I went to bed, too addicting.

We ALL have to admit that... I got Sapphire for a gift a few years ago  And yes i DID play it.

Well i have more games...

Rise Of Nations: Gold Edition- Possible Microsoft's best title (to me). I really love the game, went back to it this afternoon, and played an hour of it! I really love it, and i still play it alot these days. I love the battles they go one for more then a hour each. But the 200 pop limit sucks... it's why C&C OWNS!

and to me (ANY Tom Clancy game) i love his books, along with his games. (Specifically Splinter Cell Chaos Theory)

Diablo II, i cant believe i played that game till 6am time after time(before i became a school bus driver) online. 2003 was the last time I played it. I miss my pair of lvl 90 something Assassins, my favorite class. I dream of a psp port. I'd start playing it agin knowing i can get my D2 fix anywhere near a hot spot with lugging a notebook around.

GT2 got a lot of my time more than GT3 to date.
HL and the Day of Defeat mod, fireArms and Wasteland.
BF1942 and its Desert Combat mod.

Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 (put over 150+ hours in it)
X-Wing alliance (or x-wing vs tie fighter, classics)
Half life (soon to be half life 2)

Console games
rock n roll racing (another classic)
super metroid
legend of zelda link to the past
gran turismo 3 and 4

X-wing
Tie-Fighter
Renegades
Outlaws (before 1st person shooters started making me nauseous)

GT 2, 3, and 4.
Ace Combat 4 and 5,
Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance and Dark Alliance 2,

Pretty much covers what I've liked and do like. Everything in the 2nd group gets played when I'm not playing GT4.

I've had games like Dragon Quest V(Super Famicom), Dragon Quest I(Famicom and NES), Street Fighter II(Super NES).

For current systems, it's "Gran Turismo 3". I've been a fan of the GT series since the first one, but I don't think I was ever hooked on a game like I was with GT3. Definitely only game that made my head spin. That was a trip. I didn't care for GT4 last year, but now that everybody around me is interested in it, so am I. :D

Let's see...

The first really great game I've ever played was GT2. That's the reason why I'm so interested in cars today. However, GT3 and GT4, somehow, don't live up to the experience I had with GT2.

The next one is Half-Life 2. My PC doesn't even meet the recommended system requirements, but I still enjoyed it thoroughly. I haven't played it in months, but mainly because I'm waiting for dad to upgrade the system.

And finally, Winning Eleven 9. I've been playing FIFA soccer games since the 98 version (I've also played the 2001, 2002, and 2004 versions), but these games ain't got nothin' on WE9. I got it only a few weeks ago, and I'm already hooked.

Here are mine:
Vigilante 8 for PS1: great car combat game in the same vein as Twisted Metal and better too.

Gran Turismo 2,3,4: very awesome games and the main reason I like cars.

GTA: Vice City: Christmas 2002 I got my first PS2, I went to Blockbuster that night and got this game, (this game is the very best in the GTA series IMO, much better than SA) I proceeded to play this game for two weeks straight and I only started doing missions on the second week! A year later I got held back in seventh grade, sole reason: too much damn Vice City!

Resident Evil 4: The most accesible game in the series and one of the most fun (though it's not really scary anymore) spent good time on it and still do.

Halo 1 : got a XBOX June 2004, bought Halo and PGR2, Halo didn't leave the system until 2 came out.

Games I got the most out of hmmmm...

Well GT3 I played for like 2-3 years just slowly completing it, in the end I was playing it waiting for GT4.....

NFS HP2.... (PS2) I love that game, still playing it loads, way more so than most wanted which I feel is to undergroundish... plus its got ferrari!

Vice City (PS2), my favourite GTA still play it, love the 80's setting with lots of neon pink things!

Star Wars Episode 1 (PC)....the RPG/FPS type one.... was quite good, story was interesting and I played it through like 2 times... was a nice simple game... unfortunately there was no sequel for epsiode 2...

..... and abit of an odd one.... SIM TOWER! (PC)
boy I love that game... its still works on new computers and is just still just as fun (well as far as building a 2D tower can be!).... never completed it... still trying to reach 5 star status and put a chapel on the 100th floor roof!

EVERQUEST (PC)

My EQ character had... at least 4,800 hours played (no joke) i played it over a 4 year period, and off/on ever since.

Counter-Strike (PC)

It's extremly old, but the gameplay keeps me going more than any other FPS out there. It's because it takes so much skill to aim, and its cool.

Legend of Legaia (PS1)

An underrated PS1 RPG. Nuff said =)

Final Fantasy 5 (SNES)

With over 30 jobs to play!? Beat the game over, and over... and over... same goes for Final Fantasy 1! (NES)

Gran Turismo 1-4: Mainly because they are so in depth.

GP500: Fun game, great racing.

Falcon 4.0: Extreme detail in this game, hell, the manual is nearly an inch thick!

FIFA06: Always love to have a kick around on PS2, regardless of my mood.

Need 4 Speed Underground1/2/Most Wanted: I love the genre of the game, successful street racing game and fun multiplayer.

Burnout Series: Again, really fun game for the takeouts and jumps, all the stuff you can do.

Mercury for PSP: Mercury is to me what Lumines is to G.T.

Far Cry: Detail in the game is amazing, environments are the best I've seen.

GTA Series: Always worth the money because they are so big.

ToCA Series: Always loved the games since buying ToCA 2 Touring Cars.

Definatly GT1-4 becuase its made me a better driver
Driver1,2 and parllel lines- madest polices chases ever
GTA Series- Always find somethign new to do

there are more but cant think of any
