What happened to 900 degree steering in motion in?

OH, I was just going to make a thread about that! I also watched the same video a few minutes ago... I wonder why they didn't include it in Prologue but I read somewhere that it will be included in the Full game! Cheers

You can clearly see, that it is far from perfect so they took it out in GTP. When they managed to do it right it will be back in GT5.

So... why they included in latest builds that ugly paddle shift animations, faaaaaar away from perfection? :indiff:

I want full 900 steering wheel animation.
It will be in, it's the 3rd time I repeat it.
Data logger video shows the first 1:1 scale rotation and at CES a guy from SCEA confirmed hand crossover.

No, the data logger video is not 1:1, watch it again. It's only 180 degree steering and the real car's steering wheel goes farther in some corners whereas the GT5 wheel stops perfectly 90 degrees.

As for the SCEA guy, he was talking about the demo and he was incorrect as well. He didn't say it would be in the full game -- referring to the demo at the show, IIRC he said something along the lines of you noticing the driver cross over his hands when he does sharp corners, expanding on a comment from one of the guys he was talking to. However, in that demo and every other demo we've seen this is plainly not true at all.

No, the data logger video DOES show 1:1 rotation, only for 180 degrees but it does, that's why I added to my sentence the word "first". If it was finished we would have seen hand crossover, which is not the case.

SCEA guy: funny, he talks about hand crossover... but as you said, and as we all noticed, hand crossover is not in the demo(s). He knows his stuff so he is 100% talking about the full game.

It's not 1:1 if it's not 900 degrees. And what everyone wants is 900 degree steering, not 1:1 with 180. As for the SCEA guy, you're just assuming things. I would love for it to be in the full game and hopefully it is, but he didn't confirm anything. I dont remember exactly what he says and I don't feel like listening to it again, but he does not say that it will be in the full game. He talks as if you can already see it in the demo but you can't. If it were going to be in the full game, he should have acknowledged that it's a work in progress or something and that it will be in the full game. He did not do that.

This same guy also said 1 location for example is Daytona which would have 2 variations, whereas Kaz isn't even talking about this yet, so we can't take everything he says very seriously. He may be right but the creator of the game is being very unclear about this for a reason. I highly doubt regular SCEA representatives would be able to say more than him. PD is working on the game and know the most about it. I'm sure Sony educates him about the game and he learns some things on his own but a SCEA representative is a far cry from a PD employee or someone who's actually working on the game.

Most race drivers seldom use the the cross-over arm technique when it comes to steering. It's partly due to the size of the steering wheel in most race cars but it's not always the determining factor. Personally, I've never ever used the cross-over method but instead prefer to keep my hands in the same position and in tight turns use the one close to my knees to guide while steering with the other hand.

A couple videos to illustrate that- in the first one the driving starts at around the 3:00 mark:

Even Yamauchi-san himself uses the same technique while racing the IS-F at the Nurburgring:

1:24 into the video is the tight turn at the Castrol S (on the shortened GP circuit for the race).

I'm pretty sure that PD can easily implement a 1:1 steering without resorting to cross-over arm thingy which can look both strange and clumsy. LFS has the non-crossover arm technique but it's quite primitive at best.

Check again, even in the first corner it doesn't match (very subtle but it does not). Check from 1:06.

I already thought i was crazy. I knew i saw a demo of gt5p doing 900° steering, or crossover. Would be sweet to have it in the full game. If it's included we can be sure to not see it till gt5 is out or very close to release date 'cause gt would be the first to get it right... so the demos saw now are not representive. They clearly are doing try outs now, that's why in every vid, something new seems to be in the game in cockpit view.

Of course it doesnt match... in the game video the rotation is locked at 90 degrees left and 90 right, we already said that.

Bingo!
Just like damage and other features.

I ever wondered why they dont put this into the game.... Ok, some DS3 users would complain about, but thats easy to fix... just leave as an option for wheel users, thats it. Problem solved.

I want visual Proof, the gut game show knows crap.
