I don't care what it does to my body, might aswell enjoy life while i can.

Oh the Chris Farley method.. that's good.

I was addicted to Coke through my teen years. Drank far too much of it. Then it finally caught up with me. $4000.00 worth of dental work later, I don't drink Coke any more.

Except he overdosed on cocaine and heroine. I drink the occasional coke.

There's quite a difference.

Good thing I don't drink coke then.

Holy crap, how much weight did you lose when you stopped drinking it?

I stopped but got bad chest pains after about 10 minutes of walking, which was stopped by drinking more coke =/

But when I used it to keep me awake for 89 hours, I lost half a stone.

Capitolist America strikes again! And in a different country, no less. I figured they only tried to get Americans addicted to their product, indifferent about the consequences. Or is that the American complaining that the product affected their body, forgetting that they didn't bother to exercise or brush their teeth?

That wasn't aimed at you speedy, I just wanted to vent and your comment was perfect!

It's true, though. Of course, I am the one responsible for the health problems I have to deal with due to not ingesting things that are good for me. Unfortunately, I didn't get this kind of information from my parents growing up. I remember my father driving down to the 7-11 and buying us all Big Gulps, regularly. Now, my father is type 2 diabetic, my brother is type 1, and I may be type 2 as well. When I went for what turned out to be a lot of dental work, the first thing my dentist asked was, "Do you drink a lot of coke?"

"Yes"

"If you drink Coke rinse your mouth with water or brush your teeth immediately after."

Man, I could have used that information some years earlier.

I only drink cokes and stuff like that we go out to eat. Other than that just sweet tea.

I read that whilst drinking a coke.. I think it's time for me to drop the coke habit.. thats horrible.

Awww. Now I want a Coke..... :p

I don't really care all that much. A lot of things are bad for you. Like playing VIDEO GAMES. Also, using the COMPUTER too much. :D

I go up and down with soda. I typically have a glass a day, maybe a little more or less depending on what I feel like. I didn't read anything in that little summary that sounded so bad. I'm not exactly low on calcium (I probably get 200% of my daily calcium dose anyway), and I don't have a problem hydrating... and I'm not fat. So it sounds like there's no problem.

Seriously, I love coke, and Dr.P and Squirt and Root Beer and Ginger Ale, and just about all soda. It tastes fantastic - if you don't think so, you don't have taste buds (or they're not working right). Seriously, from a genetic biological perspective sugar is supposed to taste good. That's why coke (and cake, and cookies, and donuts) tastes good.

If it doesn't taste good to you, you might not be human (check for green skin and oversized eyes).

You can't get me worked up about the evils of soda. French fries on the otherhand - I need to cut down on those.

Ummmm, is Root Beer bad? :D I just had like...a liter of it.

I'm fed up with this 'scare culture' we seem to have in the US and Europe these days. 👎 I'm going to continue drinking coke along with all my other soft drinks. :)

Amen, for all those concerned, think of all the lovely pollution we breathe in every 5 seconds or so. :)

Yummy.

Since I read this thread, I've had more cola than ever.

Has anyone else noticed that Santa coke (cans with Santa pictures on them) is even more deliscious than normal?

Yep. Thats right. There actually might be more sugar in it....now I really want one. :D

Some people don't get fat on the outside, but on the insides. :scared: I've heard that this is very dangerous. I eat junk food and fatty food all day, yet I don't get fat. After hearing about how your organs can get fat, I've been trying to cut down on fatty foods and throw more raw vegitables in my diet.

👍

I hear you on fries too. I'm the only nutjob I know who gets fries with even Chinese, or Mexican food. :p

Wow, good thing I only drink water these days, with the exception of a coke or pepsi once a month.

I only drink Coke or Pepsi if I eat at a fast food restaurant, and thats probably once or twice every few months (3-4 months). Water ftw! 👍

Water is fine, but it doesn't give you that nice little boost in the early afternoon.

A guy at work bought some 700mL bottles of Pepsi really cheap on sale, we've been sucking them back, I don't even like Pepsi.

40 grams of sugar in one serving can’t possibly be any good for your body though. In fact, that happens to be the recommended daily intake of sugar for adults. I (of course) know that that doesn’t mean you need to stick to exactly that amount per day, but I think it give some context about just how much 40 grams is to our bodies.

And really, you can easily get yourself to drink much less – when you start consuming less sugar and fewer complex starches, your taste buds “re-aclimate” themselves, and pretty soon healthy foods actually do taste good. I’ll bet anyone here that if they stay off soda for two months, they won’t miss it after those two months end. Similarly, once you start eating whole grains (those 12-grain bagels from Ralphs are the bomb!), it’s hard to like the taste of refined flours.

I still drink Pepsi Max, but a lot less than I used to. It used to be my only liquid, now I drink two cans a day, max. I know that’s still a lot, but compared to the 4–5 litres of water I’m drinking everyday, I think it’s not too bad. I probably still should cut down to 1 a day…

However, as you say, you taste buds change, and I now do not like the flavour of soft drink as much as I used to, and water tastes a hell of a lot better than it used to.

Real bread tastes better than white bread, too. ;)

*gulp* – takes last gulp of Pepsi Max for the evening.

Sure it's probably not GOOD for me. But I doubt it's all that BAD for me. Plus, I don't drink soda because I think it's good for me.

I've gone without soda for extended periods of time and it only makes it taste better. Conversely, when I have too much soda it starts to taste bad - I get sick of it.

Well, there you go – you’ll enjoy soda far more if you drink less of it. Sounds like a plan to me! :D

The mythbusters did a show on cola and found that it actually could help remove rust off a bumper. That being said I still drink at least one can of diet coke a day.:scared:

I don't drink the normal coke. Instead, I drink the diet version with no sugar.

Man, Coke is great. Nothing goes down easier than a cold can of Coke after working outside on a hot day. Not even water quenches my thirst like that more than Coke.

I found a bottle of Coke that was dated to 1960 something I think it was. Tasted a hell of a lot better than today's stuff. Glass bottle might have been the perp though.

COCAINE!

I practically never drink coco cola. I only drink bottled water and bio milk. Sometilme I drink (not too much though) vegetable juice and juice (also bio). I think I'm going to make myself green tea for a month. Now I'm going to make warm milk with honey to sleep better due to the tryptophan

You drank a bottle of coke that's 40 years old? Why?

I know a lady who drank a 20-year old bottle of wine. Amazingly, she didn't seem to mind it at all. Maybe some people have a fascination with drinking liquids that have long passed their expiry date. Though, I'm suprised it didn't turn into vinegar. Now, let's just hope the lady doesn't decide to drink a 20-year old pot of yoghurt or a 20-year old bottle of milk.
